You can buy the Winsor timing chaing cover aftermarket. It's a good/well casted and machined piece. By the way guys, when putting a 289/302 back together, use Anti-Seize on all bolts LIBERALLY!

Dad and used to restore classics just made daily drivers ...no trailer queens ( as dad called them) ... we'd take brackets, pulleys and other parts and pieces .. clean them up and either rattle can them or powder coat them ... some clients would want (as dad referred to) a chrome over.

In the early 70’s I prayed for a 71 Mach 1 fastback but settled for a 64 Ford Falcon Wagon.. locked up from my brothers idiocy of removing the hood and spark plugs both...I got it running after a tear down like yours here...

I paused this at 30 seconds to adjust my pucker factor. A couple years out I dug out my dad's 66 GT that hadn't been started since the last time I drove it in around 1992 (garaged because it was running rough). My dad had developed lung cancer, and I wanted to be able to give him a ride in his favorite car and let him know that it would be taken care of. Me and a couple friends worked on it for a day before even trying to start it, but somehow I'm guessing we didn't do EVERYTHING we should have.... runs well now. Turns out the distributor was seizing up for some reason, and after spending weeks on the carb and even getting a rebuilt original I couldn't get it to produce the vacuum I wanted.... Yeah, timing chain. I was pretty rough on this baby (high school :P) before she got stored.

well I tell you right now never get a 2012 Chrysler 200 because they decided to attach a clip that you have to remove said clip to get the low beams and the clip is connected to the bumper and yes the only way to remove it is to remove the bumper

I am European and my 2009 B6 Passat is very tigh and neat in the engine bay, but the 1992 Buick I bought is unexpectedly big for me. Not only the engine but the whole car, even with just being a little longer than my Passat.

I've owned 3 1966 Mustang's 2+2 Fast Back's, all 3 of them come with the 289 High Performance engines 271 horse power with the 4 speed in the floor from the factory. Back in the day when Ford started putting those 289 high performance 271 horse power engines in the 1966 2+2 Mustang fast back's, and in the 1967 Ford Fairlane's, about the only street cars at that time that could out run one, was the 1966 and 1967 SS 396 Chevelle's or the 1967 Camaro's. Those 289 high performance 271 horse powered engines run very strong!!!

Just started watching two weeks ago. I like your style and knowledge, I graduated high school in '65 and when these came out they were cool as s**t. A classmate got a '64 and a half, envious as hell. One note...the hose on the water pump looks a mite crimped.

Thank you, I wish I had grown up in that era! Best "time" in my opinion. My dad tells me stories of the highschool parking lots with 69 machs, boss 302s, hemi mopars! Those were parking lots! Not like nowadays with boring ass cars that are all the same. As for the hose, I'm not sure why I looped it like that. Not even connected correctly. I change it in the next video 👍

@@Theoldcarchannel. Yes, a lot of great cars coming out in the sixties and the seventies but most of the ones in my school lot were from the '50s. My first car was a '56 Ford businessmans coupe. Sraight six, three speed with no backseat. Just a flat area to put their sample cases. I learned to drive in brothers '49 Ford. A great time to live in SoCal

Has been off the road since 84. Black with red interior. It runs but the auto trans has issues. Will probably convert to 4 or 5 speed. Everything on hold till I get the new garage finished. I promised myself not to tear apart until its new home is finished. Have the whole floor pan assembly for it ready to go

@@jackw3990 black with red interior is sharp! 5spd is definitely the way to go, have it in my coupe and wouldn't want it any other way. Haha definitely gotta give the stang a nice place to sleep! But in all honesty your doing the right thing by finishing the garage. Saves alot of hassle doing the work now rather than trying to finish the shop around things like a car, shelving, tools, etc

North Carolina is beautiful, I envy you. There's a lot of great restoration projects in the south that look really bad to southerners, but to Canadian eyes- especially southern Ontario Canadian eyes- aren't even that bad. Especially when age is factored in.

On the carb, the little tube sticking up is the vent tube. Take a small bott6e and fill the carb bowls by pouring gas into it. Saves alot of cranking, with backfires.

Also when heating a bolt touch it with a candle and the melted wax will follow the threads. Let it cool and the bolt will come loose with ease.

2.0 litre engine in the UK is classed as " big engine" They only got serious when the built the RR Merlin. Ford Fusion in Uk has a 1000 cc ecoboost engine ! Why do they do that?

Looks very familiar. I had a 65 fastback 2+2 4v, green with the high perf tags. What a fun car that was. I tried leaving the short block in the car when I first built it but in the end had it bored .30--much easier and better. If the lifter valley was full of gunk the oil pan sure is too--might want to pull that and clean it or your oil will turn black fast. I know you guys are going on the cheap but maybe you could swing for some Ford blue paint? These motors are really beautiful when cleaned and painted.

I thought I was going to get to see somebody work on a Mustang with a 289 with hilborn injection on it. Well I ended up watching an example of how you can piece together a motor while it's in the car.. There were some good examples of methods and techniques, So this was a nice low budget build, and was very thoughtful in its presentation. Thank you.

"From the time you ordered the car till the time you pick the car up will be a timeline of about 2 years" "let's start with an Art Morrison frame" " I want it chopped, and channeled, nosed and decked, I want it stretched 3in in the doors, 4 inch wider down the middle, stainless steel exhaust, Connelly leather interior, a B&M blower, and a the Champion quick change rear end" there see I can be vague and ambiguous at the same time. I've fucked up more cars than you have fixed. It's pretty clear to me.

Not trying to tell you what to do, but it might be a good idea to have a longer by-pass hose for the heater hoses. Your kink looks pretty tight. You want that water to circulate. Looking good. I have turned wrenches on those old 289's several times. A sweet engine to work on for sure.

nice start buddy my father and I did a similar resto a few years ago on my 65 coupe was a great time these cars are so fun to work on and drive and is that hillbourne setup for a small block ford that's really amazing I was always interested in itbs on mine but the arm and a leg for cost routed me to a holly 650 on a gt350 intake manifold
