BUT VGG's down to earth approach is my absolute favorite. He's definitely much more like your friend down the street than some guy with unlimited funds doing crazy things. In the KZbin automotive world, it doesn't get any better than Derek! This guy is a genuinely hard working, old-school mechanic with down home values! He may add a little corn for entertainment, but he's 100% authentic! And if you watch his stuff, not only will you have a good time, get a few laughs, but you will learn a thing or two about cars that are slowly going away. Many mechanics these days won't work on a carburetor, they don't know how to set points, and they are slowly forgetting what a timing light is. It's fun to work on these cars! It reminds me of better days, sitting in the garage with my pop working on his El Camino or my mom's Oldsmobile. By the time I was in highschool I could do all the basic maintenance on top of change all the fluids, change and rotate tires, do full tune ups - plugs, wires, belts, oil, even blades! I could rebuild a carburetor just sitting at the kitchen table. Damn those were good times! Thanks Derek! You're content is unmatched! 👍🙂❤️

He loves what you do and the way you do it and the reasons you do it. He always says... There should be more fellas in this world like this fella. He always ends his comments with... keep On Motoring Brother. Because you remind him of his younger brother that passed away last year. His brother watched your channel as well. They were very close brothers. Either one of them would have done whatever it takes to help the other. I didn't know his brother that well. But what I did know of him. I can surely see why my husband appreciates your channel. You remind him a lot of his brother. His brother was quite the comedian when he wanted to be. Sorry for such a long comment. And with as many subscribers that you have. I'm sure you probably won't even get a chance to read this. But I had to get it out there. My husband isn't the crying type of man. But a few of your videos, I believe when your brother appeared in them my husband literally turned his head as he was watching the video. I know he dropped tears in memory of his brother. He always tells me that he will be a lifetime subscriber to your channel. And that you're the only one that he feels is worth the little bit of money to become a member. I love this man with all my heart. He's done more for me in the last 5 years then my ex-husband did for me in 28 years. It makes me feel good inside knowing that there are good men in this world and they can make you feel more than what you really are everyday. Keep up the wonderful channel Derek for I know my husband will watch every video you put out and he tries to comment on every video you put out, as well as shares your channel everywhere he can and he tells all his friends and family to watch your channel and to subscribe to your channel. He says, if there's anyone thats a KZbinr deserves the subscribers you have, it is surely you. I want to say... Thank you for being who you are sir. More people in this world like you would make this world a hell of a lot better. Excuse my expression with the word hell. And your wife seems like a total sweetheart. And you have some great boys. Your wife and yourself are doing a wonderful job with those boys. We both enjoy your channel but really enjoy when the whole family's involved. As soon as you showed the trailer hitch I said to myself "blowing smoke and no compression from the rear cylinder". My dad kept buying these Ford station wagons in the '70s with a big V8 engines to tow a pop up trailer and about 8 kids from central Florida to the California desert and back again for summer vacation. Every time when he'd get back it would have a rough idle and blowing smoke. He didn't know anything about cars so he would blame me for ruining his beautiful car simply by pointing these things out to him. The good thing was I could always keep it running somehow, usually by changing the rear plugs or cleaning the points. I was surprised when you started driving it back without changing the exhaust manifold gasket or at least draining the old gas out of the tank. I would have been pulled over at least 5 times for noise and smoke violations. Great videos.

I had a bit of an anxiety attack at first, thinking this may have been the exact same car I had in 1983-1987. Close, but not quite as mine had the 429. Still, it's so nice to see the old girl again and it brings back so many memories and "firsts" I had in that car as a 19 year old man,... Thanks Derek. This one is my favorite!

We had a 72 ford galaxie 500 4 dor hardtop with a 351W. Complete junk, from the time it was designed until it started to rust out at 2 yrs old. We kept it until it wouldn't keep oil pressure. Then sold it to a used car dealer as a winter beater, just to get rid of it.

I love this guy and he knows that a 1972 460 plant will fire up and run fine. Big C-6 transmission, 9.3/8"rear, solid automobile. The car is designed for long-distance reliability. In comfort! I still think about a 1971 Continental that a client sold to me for $ 1 dollar. Evicted the ground-chucks, and drove it for a year. I'm 60yrs and live in Michigan, can't find them anymore. That engine & transmission went on to power a "74" Gran Torino and then a "good" Cobra replica. Nice Mercury, good job. J.

That is absolutely the most badass car ever on this show and maybe ever. Even the 4 door makes it look cool, no hubcaps, raised white letters. I would never have thought it would look better w/o fender skirts! A crate (n0n-smog) 460 and trans rebuild - possibly the best car ever. If I weren't bankrupt from my other classic gems I'd love to have it but as we know, even if it's free, they cost a fortune to own. But thanks a million for this show!

Hi there! If memory serves me correctly, you pushed forward on the turn signal lever for the tilt wheel. Thanks so much and keep these videos coming!

I was thinking the same about the tilt wheel. The turn signal lever is the lock on the tilt. I think it is to pull the lever towards you to move the wheel. I had a 76 Thunderbird for a short time, and it did have the tilt wheel.
