Footage from Brian Johnston explaining his J-Reps Johnston Rep Method from the early 2000's. Featuring Andrew Shortt. At the time the IART (International Association of Resistance Trainers) was expanding and pushing the boundaries of High Intensity Training. This method helped many trainees break through plateau's and get great results.

Brings back memories. I think I've read many Brian Johnston self published articles and books having been an IART certified trainer. He was always so thorough and definite in his writing. You can see it as he speaks. Precision matters to him. This has me motivated to get back into my J-Reps book and revisit these sets in my training. Thank you for posting.

Really happy to hear that. BDJ was putting out some really quality stuff back then. Seemed like a simpler time. I'd love to see him get on a larger social media platform and expand his reach.

Yeah, for me, he disappeared. Maybe I just didn't follow wherever he went. My guess is his justifiable lack of patience for having to argue and explain to keyboard warriors who are ignorant on the subject at hand. I remember a few of these arguments on Dr. Darden's website that were exhausting. I would love to read how his philosophy on training has evolved since J-Reps. @@STGStrengthandPower

Glad your enjoying it. I think I have some more footage of a big heavy weight lifter doing a Jrep routine in the gym. I'll try and get it posted.

@@STGStrengthandPower I plan on trying this for myself. I’ve transitioned from Mentzer ideal program to blood and guts style, and now doing Arthur jokes full body. I love hit training, and plan to implement this method into my full body routine.

Jreps are actually a brilliant combination of the Nautilus idea of fully exercising the full range of motion AND the benefits of free weights, given that cams will not be optimal for every person. Brian Johnston has done more intelligent thinking and innovation in the field of exercise science than all any of the top bodybuilders or even HIT "gurus".

Phil Heath actually uses these principles in a lot of his workout videos. You see him doing partials on different types of machines, sometimes bottom third, sometimes mid third and sometimes top third.

Brian reached all time best with this method and Andrew competed multiple times in drug free bodybuilding shows.
