Additionally I saw an interesting article recently with unusual botanical names that saw some popularity during the Edwardian era; I found it interesting that Snowdrop appeared several times, both as a first and as a middle. Myrtle was also a pretty popular choice too! The names that stuck out the most to me on the list were: Acacia Harriet Alice Rhoda Camellia Theresa Megri Claude Oak Clematis Mary Claire Elm Oliver Felix Ruby Ivy Narcissus Lavender Mignonette Linden Fritz Barnabas Marguerite Gertrude Mignonette Ethel Mignonette Verbena Myrtle Irene Poppy Doretta Primrose Henrietta Rosebud Helena Esther Snowdrop Gladys Una Lilian Veronica Dorothy Violet Lobelia But the most interesting I think were twin brothers named Gladiolus Bernard and Hyacinth Joseph!

Lol....Abilene is the name of a city here in Texas. However, we pronounce it with a short A, like the A in the word absolute. Fun fact, I randomly went by Terra for about 2 years in college. Never been called that before by any friends or family but I just decided to re-invent myself after a kinda tough time/breakup, and just corrected the teacher with the new name when the first day of school happened. It was fun while it lasted but eventually came back to Theresa as it just suited me much better. Felt nice to reclaim it for myself in the end. This is probably why I really prefer longer names with plenty of nickname options because you just never know what'll feel exactly right but at least you have a solid foundation to start with.

for a new color name- xanadu! it’s a variant of sage green, almost like a light grey green, very earthy and botanical too

For botanical names my crushes right now are Thyme such as the herb. And Zaire which means blossoming flower.

Do you have a theme with the names for your other children that we could go off of or any names that you like, but don’t have a middle name for?

Calyx, the botanical term, is pronounced Kay-lix, so that's an option if you don't like the soft 'a' of Callyx. I wonder if Callyx is more of a made-up name inspired by the botanical term. I like both. I love the name Orrin. It's a contender along with Orson (bear cub) for my little one due in August :)

Abilene is a town in Texas, but it IS pronounced with an “Ah” sound as opposed to the English pronunciation that you give. AH-be-leen.

Tell me you’ve been watching SJ BabyName lists for too long without telling me. I just saw the word Whirlwind and thought “hm would that be cute in a middle spot?”😂💙

Opinions on Everleigh? Is there a prefered spelling? I'm loving the name but I'm not sure the best way to spell it. Xx
@rubymoon14873 жыл бұрын
I love the spelling of "Everly" personally, followed by "Everlie" 😊
@helgabarton73843 жыл бұрын
@@rubymoon1487 Harsh opinion alert. Everleigh is the best example of this new "white americans' name trend" - adding a bunch of unnecessary letters, loving y, z, x and silent h, adding lynn to every existing name and turning ly into leigh for no reason. So you end up with Masely, Maizely, Mayzzlee, Maiseleigh and Maezhelee in one class. Pronounced the same. And a Krisjen instead of Christian. Trying to be unique through "alterative" misspellings just means your child will have to say "hi, I'm Everleigh with l-e-i-g-h" their whole life. "Hi, I'm Jaxon with a x". The Kinzlee trend.

Helga Barton okay thank you for this! This was my concern as I love the name! I think Everly actually looks prettier in my opinion.

Allium Botany or Barley Coriander Fern Hawthorn - what I would have been named if I was a boy after my father's Uncle whose nickname was "Happy" Nantes Petal Sitka Viney - used to be a nickname for ask the old fashioned names like Malvina, Lavinia etc Wheaten Yarrow

The first way you pronounced Terra is the way my name is pronounced. My y makes the long e sound. I’ve never seen my name on a list of yours and was excited to hear just the pronunciation of my name even if it wasn’t the same spelling 😁

I love Pepper! I associate it with the characters in Marvel and Good Omens. I had a dog named Pyper so I personally can't use it, but I will always get excited about it and encourage others to use it.

I'm due with my baby girl May 31st. We are thinking of naming her Georgiana Fae. Neither are ranked in the US where we live. My two thoughts/questions are: 1: Is it okay that the name meanings aren't very special/meaningful? As far as I can tell it's Georgiana - Farmer and Fae - Fairy. 2. We want to call her Georgi for short. I love the name Georgi as a nickname. I do not like Ana as a nickname though and am I maybe setting myself up for her having that at some point? What do you all think? Georgiana Fae?
@brittbolt35653 жыл бұрын
I love Georgiana!! But not a big fan of Fae unless there is some sentimental significance ... maybe Georgiana Mae? Georgie is adorable ♥️
@harrietread22843 жыл бұрын
If you don’t like the nickname ‘Ana’, you could always name her Georgina (very well known in the U.K. at least and I’ve never heard it shortened to anything other than Georgie or George)
@lauralamming50113 жыл бұрын
I prefer the spelling Faye, but I think it’s a lovely middle name. LOVE Georgiana. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice. And Georgie is such a cute nickname.
