What I always find interesting are moves that were good early on, but have since been powercrept or functionally replaced by better moves. Submission for instance was gen 1's "best" fighting move, but it's terrible and I don't think anyone's used it since then. I'm using Brick Break a lot in my gen 3 playthroughs now, but that's been largely replaced by moves like Close Combat. It's interesting to see these staple moves just kind of ... disappear

steel roller is a forgotten gen 9 move that nobody uses. it is the signature move of iron treads. it has 130 base power and in order to activate it there MUST be a terrain arround. it ends the terrain. in the "shared power" format (a format where the pokemon share their abilities with each other) I tried to make some use of this move by giving my iron treads steelworker and touch claws ability thus turning this move to almost 255 base power. this gimmick was trash. I wasn't expecting much anyway.
@Portobello-MushroomАй бұрын
Steel Roller is unfortunately too specific to see any sort of broad use. I could see it being a fun bring in a draft game or monotype but other than that it's just too niche. Also fun fact, it was introduced in Gen 8, but for some reason they changed it to the sig move of Treads in Gen 9
