I feel he always suffered from that Austin Rivers appeal. Ppl looking at him like you alright just lucky your pops got connections. Me personally I just feel if you’re not very versatile or can score in bunches then your time in the league won’t last long as a short guard who seems to be a liability on defense especially. Also no hate on Austin he knows the game from how he speaks on first take but I believe him being undersized & nba players being to match his speed just couldn’t explode on to the scene like he did in high school. Cole to me shares many of the same traits.

I don’t think Cole’s growth was stunted at all. He’s had plenty of opportunity to prove his worth. It’s more of a fit thing as for why he’s not starting, not because of his talent. A healthy Fultz is simply a better player than Cole, but he just couldn’t stay available. Suggs is a dawg and the perfect fit out there with the starters. Anthony Black was drafted more for his size and versatility, not necessarily to replace Cole, since Orlando did extend him. Cole’s actually had the best season of his career efficiency wise leading the bench unit. He’s a star in his role.

The heat just gave up a first last year to get Terry rozier and I think tyus jones is just the type of floor general the suns need. Cole had every chance to be the guy, just very inconsistent. Plus, his best trait is his scoring and he's not elite there, very mid. needs to get the scoring down and he can lead the bench unit. I don't think the magic was the problem. he gives great effort on D but he's still hunted by other teams due to his size. once Cole's shot IQ develops, he'll be a great backup guard for years to come. this his prove it year on the magic and i hope he finds his confidence to score, facilitate, and shoot the 3 ball consistently. need 15ppg and 5ast this season from him.
