How will Animators make One-Punch Man Season 3?

The collective effort from series director Shingo Natsume to the talented action aces like Yoshichi Kameda, Arifumi Imai, Yutaka Nakamura, and many more showed that bringing Yusuke's Murata's work to the big screen could be done. However, with the latest chapters of One-Punch Man, questions over whether the animators can adapt the complexity of Murata's work have returned.

the problem with season 3 and more is Garou arc has so many fight and some of them are very complex, for example: -Orochi trasnformation agaisnt Garou is really complex, so there is a hugh posibility Orochi would be made in 3D. -highway pursuit where heroes are fighting psykos.

You can bet your ass that Fighter-aircraft Psykos vs Drive Knight will be cgi bc there's no way you can animate that whole sequence without sacrificing a lot detail. Also, don't forget that the Garou fights are but the tip of the iceberg, every S Class Hero has their own battle in this arc. Child Emperor's one will be particularly laborious to adapt.

I’m not too hopeful considering season 1 was a match made in heaven for the people working on it and considering how season 3 will be covering pretty much non stop large scale action, I think corners will certainly be cut and that’s on top of the abysmal state of season 2, so let’s hope this second studio change is for the better, even if it means we still can’t achieve season 1’s heights.

Some studios also make 24 episodes for one season like MHA, and it can be possible with OPM too. But if they will carry only 12 episodes for each season then we can expect Saitama vs Garou in Season 5 or 6. They can also skip some scenes or chapters if they find them unimportant.

Here’s my hopes for the material they could cover: Season 3 - adapts everything up to right when Saitama and Orochi come face to face (simple) Season 4 - first episode is entirely the battle between the two, with sone extended fight scenes that could possibly be taken from the original fight before it got redrawn. Then the season finale will be the defeat of Psyrochi and maybe the reveal of Blast. Season 5 - begins with the Cadres showing up once again, and then the rest of the arc is adapted into the season (and could maybe be an episode or two longer than the previous seasons, especially with some of the chapters being pretty long).

Then the season AFTER can start with the Cadres returning and it can cover the rest of the arc. I wasn’t suggesting to end the arc in two more seasons. I think that if they’re sticking to the same episode count as before for each season, this is what I think would be a great format for the seasons to come.

there're really great fights scenes, just good high-budget animation won't cut it. they have to catch the vision, sense of scale & wonder and superv cinematography, choreography, sequences, everything has be great. This is the hero nobody knows we're talking about, if it doesn't surpass the previous ones, then it won't feel that great.

I just saw Gundam Witch from Mercury Prologue and it still have beautiful 2D mecha. garou is not going to be that hard to animate if you know the trick behind, just draw the outline, the inner details, and for the galaxy middle, just put a layer of an image under that drawing (same principle with green screens), and you get the same affect, you can make the image track with the animation, or make it move slightly even if garou is standing still to make it look like there's an actual universe inside of him. this trick is how most shows animate lighting under leaves, or clothes. also very common in manga with mountains, which was even present in the garou v saitama fight itself

I've also thought about that, but wouldn't this look cheap? It may look much better (and harder to do) if they made static or barely moving "window to space" in him adding extra depth to this instead of just layer that stays in place while he moves. Whatever they choose I hope they'll nail it. We have to wait 1 or 2 seasons for that so at this rate it's long enough for someone to develop a new animation technology xD

A fact that you have not covered in this video is how can they animate the fight scenes with big geometry forms in sky ? Like when Saitama just show his incredible strenght and speed to Garou in Jupiter's Moon or others scenes with Psykos versus Tatsumaki At reading this, I've already some difficult to imagine movement/motion for this scene so in anime, I don't have an idea at all I'm curious to see that 👀 I hope that the third season and others will be properly animated to respect Murata's work 🙏

Also it's crazy to me that hand written drawing can put do computer animation sometimes. That Lightspeed battle between sperm, flashy and garou is another really impressive panel that I'm hoping gets animated correctly. Same with tornado lifting the coastline.
