Slow living isn’t a trend for me. It's a lifestyle I have embraced for years; I learned it from my mom and grandma. We always just took our time to enjoy the beauty of the everyday. I’m a romantic at heart, with a practical lifestyle approach to “keep it simple.” I grew up on a farm, which furthered my love of simplicity and back to the basics mindset.
We moved two years ago to our cozy cottage aka - "mobile home", and we are in the process of fixing it up. I strive to make our home cozy and inviting no matter what remodeling stage we are in. Making a home hygge and cozy is just a normal way of life for me, and I can’t imagine it any other way.

There's nothing embarrassing about using something until it gets as worn as that towel. I actually admire it and think we need to do more of that. We have become such a throwaway society.

My favorite towel is an old linen printed with fruit. At some point it belonged to my MIL and she was born 1922. I use it every week to cover my bread Doug on its final rise. It’s tattered and worn but I can’t bring myself to toss it yet. I think now that I’ve made this comment, I’ll do my least favorite job and darn it to make it last until my kids probably throw it away upon my death. Or, might they ask, “what was so special about this towel that Mom would keep it past its time.”

My towels are worn and full of holes, and that's when they become absorbent . You shop the way I do, very practical but with a little home decor mixed in😊. Your kitchen is beautiful!

I chuckled at your very calm response to your Spode dishes. I watch a gal who collects Spode and just about does back flips each time she scores a piece of Spode from the thrift stores. You might want to do a bit of research on your very nice find…you might be surprised. I also have to congratulate Hunny for the copper find which is also a very good score. I absolutely love thrifting and getting things at very reasonable prices, it makes my heart happy. I have been married for 43 years and still go thrifting mostly at Habitat for Humanity these days. Most of my thrifting is done during Jacks dialysis days but I prefer to thrift with him. Life has really changed in our home in the past year with all the health issues Hunny has been through so now thrifting is a way for me to shut my mind off from so much uncertainty. Some days I just look and sometimes I find great treasures. I so enjoy all your vlogs but when you go thrifting it is a joy to see what you find. I am also a gardener and books are my winter gardening. I am so glad your daughter loves to get her hands in the soil, it’s a worth while skill for her entire life to have and it really helps the household budget when we grow right down to the flowers! As a master gardener I always want to see more young gardeners. Sending you many prayers and wishes as we are now deep into the holiday and winter season. I think of you often as the weather reports are heard knowing you get far more winter white up in the UP than I do down here in the middle of the mitten. I love your new work area! So perfect! I think we have the same wishes for our Birthday’s! My Birthday was early November and my husband and I went to the Amish Countryside near us. I was able to go thrifting, and have lunch, and just did simple things. My husband who isn’t really a shopper always acts like it’s the best thing he’s ever done on my Birthday.😁 I love the red dishes you found! I think a studded orange with cloves, and pine on the side in that soup bowl would make a beautiful Christmas decoration! Thank you for a great video! It was wonderful!

November is also my birthday and wedding anniversary month! (Belated well-wishes to you on both of yours!) I love your plate rack and back splash! I had been thinking of putting up a brick back splash in our kitchen because it reminds me of my childhood home kitchen--and we finally did it this summer! I love it. Now for that plate rack....someone tell Santa! Love your channel. Our family is walking through a bad time with my Mom right now. She has Parkinson's and isn't well at all and just got out of the hospital. I'm trying to make Christmas--the lead up to it and everything--nice even though we are all a bit sad about my Mom's state of health. We still have a 140yo at home and I want her to have good holiday memories, and we have 2 grandchildren as well. Thanks for a calm, relaxing, hygge break in my day! God bless you.

Happy birthday and happy anniversary!! Your house after thrifting and doing a grocery haul looks very familiar. We do the same thing by buying bulk and it takes a while to organize and put up but it’s so worth it. It keeps you out of the stores weekly so much. Your kitchen work area turned out great. Salt boxes are perfect. We have two of them. The wool blanket is beautiful.

I really enjoyed this video. (I actually love them all!) This time of year is so special and we love it. We are thankful every single day. These cooler seasons filled with family, blessings & thankfulness are our favorites. Your views of homemaking are much like mine, even though our decorating and design "styles" are different. Just like you , we make sure any towelling is used to its fullest before replacing. Sometimes, like our bath mat a few months ago , it then didn't even have enough of itself left to move to the rag box when i finally replaced it . Haha. I love your thrifted pieces. I cant remember ever seeing a copper salt pot but its gorgeous and in fantastic condition. I finally got my ceremic white one with little blue flowers😅 and last week found a vintage sifter with a similar enough pattern to go on the kitchen shelves when we eventually do them. All the food looks incredible! ❤❤❤ The green bowl is the perfect size to catch the fresh ground flour too. Thank you for a beautiful video sweetheart ❤❤

I purchase mine in bulk because I use vinegar (that may not always be fully diluted😬) to wash dishes and clean the kitchen with. Happy Belated Birthday. I haven't seen you in a few months.So glad I happened up this November video. Love how your daughter helps you with baking. My daughters were not that interested in cooking when they were at home, but now that they are married, they are all good cooks. I also love ALDI's. I live less than two hours south of the bridge. Wouldn't it be fun to meet at a Consignment shop? Maybe we could plan that sometime in the summer. also, can you post your pie crust recipe, mine does not roll out as easy as yours looks.

Salt corrodes copper and there is controversy regarding salt in copper. I love aldi as well. Great towels and linens. Looking forward to your decorating and holiday baking and all the coziness to come.

I did, on Etsy. Where I am so far south I never see the really good antiques that the northern states have an abundance of, it seems and the items you find when thrifting. By the way, did you ever finish reading Cranford? I did and came away that although I did like the book, I like the series better.
