Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.bbtv.com/collections/forg...
This ludicrously huge handgun is actually a 10-gauge Colt 1855 Revolving Shotgun with a cut-down barrel and a newly made grip frame. The backstop and trigger guard of the shotgun were handily reshaped into a grip frame, and the finished product actually looks nicely proportional - until you try to actually pick it up, of course. .The grip is filled with brass inlay, about a third of which are missing (possibly from the recoil of actually firing?). Despite the rather poor finish condition, the gun cycles smoothly, and appears to be fully functional. Just the thing for someone who wants to make the Colt Walker look puny!

boxfox reyes I rather suspect it was primarily used for showing off or intimidation value, as actually shooting a 10-gauge (0.775 caliber equivalent) handgun would be very unpleasant for all involved (admittedly more so for the poor bugger down range).

Neat! I’ve actually shot one of these before. Outside of a saloon in Wyoming, 1874, four men cornered me and demanded money back from a poker game I’d won. Two withdrew knives, one a pistol of Colt design, the fourth barehanded, but dangerous nonetheless. Seeing I was outnumbered I took the money and tossed it to the ground. The man with the Colt looked down, a mistake that would immediately prove fatal. I drew my sidearm, a 10 gauge colt, one of a matching pair, and gunned all four men down before they could even widen their eyes in shock. It’s how I became known as the fastest gun in Wyoming, until 1889, in a duel with Keanu Reeves.

I love historical weapons that have personal touches that make them unique to other similar models of the time. This one is probably the most unique I've ever seen considering so much of it is custom modified. I'm impressed with how they used the existing hardware to make a functional weapon out of it!

This makes more sense than one might think. The cylinder gap pretty much forces to to shoot the rifle one handed. By shortening it, it paradoxical allows you to get two hands on the grip, and makes the shotgun a much handier surprise when a really big rattlesnake makes it into camp 😂

I've got to say, if you're a Wells Fargo guard, and you're going to be riding up on the box with a super cut down "coach gun" without a stock, and with a double barrel that's probably not too much longer than that barrel, hey, why not get one of these. At least you'll have more than 2 shots.

Years ago I seen a hand made 30 06 revolver in a old guns and ammo magazine, I'm sure someone was willing to shoot it, now it's how far will they go. .50 BMG? 25mm anti-aircraft? I suppose you reach a natural limit when the recoil begins to break peoples arms. Like That motorcycle with the 427 Chevy car engine in it that the builder was advertising to get a driver for. There's a limit to everything, when you have to ask if the thrill is worth the damage you know it's going to do to you.
