Mr. Mulroney stopped at a Costco store on the south end of our city a year or so back, while passing through central Alberta. He bought a soda and a hotdog. When asked if he was the former PM, he replied quietly: "I am". He was gracious with the staff. Posed for a couple of pics, then added "not too many places a guy can grab lunch for $1.50". With that, he hopped back into his rental car & headed off to Edmonton for a meeting.

@@karmas4172 It is true Bush was no Reagan, but no matter what, he was a good Christian. Not a perfect man by any means, but overall he was a good man. Good men are seeming to lack in this day and age. Reagan was a good man, Bush like him or not was a good man. Politics aside, anyone who loses a parent is feeling terrible pain, and I sympathize George W. Bush, though I did not always agree with him.

Our poor president, lacking all empathy and love for mankind is most likely to not even understand those lovely words of the Canadian Ex prime minister. I would like to think Trump learned something at that service , but he is incapable of learning and he will be going out in shame, not with accolades. There will be no state funeral Donald Trump.

@aberas Good points and well said aberas. I am very concerned about Scheer's policy on guns. He wants to take firearm classification out of the hands of the RCMP and place it with an "ombudsman", a civil servant hired by his party. You watch the gun lobby and dollars flow then and we know where. The RCMP versus a political hack? Not good at all. As an aside, the Mulroneys lived across the street from my father's family in Baie Comeau. Brian's father Ben and my grandfather had an electrician's business together. Brian was their helper and once told my grandfather that he'd be Prime Minister one day. 😊

He gave a great speech, really caused one to perhaps have a new perspective on the life of Pres. Bush. Btw, Mulroney, when he was PM of Canada, was integral to the fight to free Nelson Mandela. He refused to be stopped in that lonely fight, it says a lot about character, so I can understand why he and Pres. Bush both understood the importance of character.

"When George Bush was President of the United States of America, every single head of government in the world knew that they were dealing with a gentleman, a genuine leader, one who was distinguished, resolute, and brave." I was never really a fan a George Bush, but I do believe that whether his policies were right or wrong, they were something that he thought was for the good of his country. And while not all will agree, he did keep the Office of the President respected, not only in the US, but in the world. Mr Mulroney's words, sadly, will never describe the man now holding the office his predecessors worked hard to keep respected in the world.

Truly Canadian, This man was a great leader in the days. Those were the better days, when these old timers ruled the nations, Bush and Mulroney. No doubt, and these men had Respect for each other, and Mulroney still has, were did we Canadians go so astray with the leaders that we now have, in 2018. Canada is now in a all time low with Treadue as our leader😢😢

Trudeau fell head over heels with the ME TO movement and all the SJW. Wanting to save the world at our expense. In the over 3 years he's been in power the only thing that got done was legalizing pot. And even that is a debacle.

When you have the time watch the eulogy Mulroney said at Reagan's funeral...almost identical, Mulroney used Mitterrand and leadership as well as Yates' poem both times with just a little twist of difference. He should get a full time job doing eulogies.

Just a note; You can spot all of the Secret Service Agents in the crowd,They are the dudes with really short hair cuts or no hair at all mostly sitting on the isle seats that don't move and never laugh or show any emotion other than a blank, angry look.

Thank you Brian for making us Canadians proud. You remind us what leaders do when elected to leadership positions and how true leaders work for the betterment of all. What a contrast that when you have the Saudi's booking 500 rooms at the Trump hotel to courier favour with the President. I wonder what Trump would have done if he was negotiating a hotel in Baghdad when Saddam invaded Kuwait? He would sell out friends in allies to make a dollar. I pray for America that the will come through this and return to their leadership in the free world. God bless America.
