What do you think an ex-CIA agent actually does? Many like to present themselves as self-described 'experts' but they're scared to death about revealing something that's not already public knowledge. They don't want their life ruined so they tread very carefully. Anything that's not public knowledge leaves them vulnerable to prosecution. And the agency itself can continue with blunder after blunder unchecked, with an unlimited and top secret budget that even the president isn't privy to. They obviously fumbled the ball here, and keep getting rewarded for being asleep at the wheel for 911 and literally not knowing about the Berlin Wall falling until we did. “The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings...And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment.” --John Kennedy

When western leaders say Russia's war in Ukraine breaks international law and is horrible. They are correct. The problem is, when they call Russia or China thugs or Criminals, Russia and China do not care. Why? Because if the Nuremberg laws and international laws had been applied and enforced since WWII. Almost every world leader, including western leaders, would have been hanged for crimes against humanity. But since America has a monopoly on military strength, and economic influence, they can just tell international organizations to side with them, to approve of their wars. So even if Russia is a street thug, as we imply. The west is the Mafia. And abuses their power globally and against their own people. Don't get me wrong, it is still better to live in the USA than elsewhere. It's still richer, and more free than Ukraine or Russia, for example. But America has spent decades playing world police, while breaking its own rules. And now that it is weak, the other thugs are out for blood.

My first cousin's husband retired from Army Intelligence at Fort Meade when he was 59. He could not even say he was a sworn covert operative until 25 years had passed. He could not travel overseas after retirement. He has said anyone who claims to be a sworn covert employee of the US Government, isn't. At least until 25 years after leaving their service.

Meh, unless you receive something from the government that says you can talk about something, you can't say anything. Government NDAs or "sworn to secrecy" type things don't get disclosed until the government decides it can. Even if there is precisely zero chance of your information causing harm or danger to national security, say no longer used equipment or encryption, you can still get thrown in a dark hole for talking about it. Families are generally vetted for security reasons, so in those cases it is reasonable to allow disclosure if risk is sufficiently low, but most of the time that would only apply if there may be certain hazards if they don't know. And that's going to have as little information as necessary. 25 years isn't long enough. Perhaps, your cousins husband was not involved in anything that would be overly sensitive. If it's gonna be sensitive enough for a classification there's definitive time frames when things can be disclosed or declassified. MK ULTRA was ultimately "disclosed" because those with any real knowledge of it have since died. Most "Secret" information has a 50 year period. "Confidential" is as little as 10 years but usually a 15 year expiration. These classifications are put to committee for evaluation if things are to be disclosed before the standard time or at all. Operation Northwoods was declassified by committee. MK ULTRA was an accidental leak, but the original decision for the program to be released was that it was so damaging if the information were to get out that it all be destroyed. We only know of it because of careless governmental bureaucracy that what little information exists survived destruction. Seriously. The government will tell you if you're allowed to talk about something. If you don't hear from them, best stay silent. If they're willing to destroy evidence of something to hide its existence, what are they willing to do to keep a secret they don't want out?

One thing he said made sense. Putin does not mirror western values. There are no moral values in the western NATO block. If you take a look at the locations of where USA had military interventions and number of civilians they've killed in the past decades there is absolutely no comparison to anything we have vitnessed since the dawn of civilization, so yeah, your moral values do not mirror Russia's (who could raze Ukraine to the ground in matter of hours, but they've sent only like 7% of their capacity and they care about civilian lives so they go slowly towards the end goal)

Or better yet, get a frigging Russian, to hear the truth from the horse's mouth! This is ridiculous! You guys keep talking ABOUT us Russians, instead of actually talking WITH us! Watch Patrick Lancaster's videos from Donbass. Research what the Alley of Angels in Donetsk is. I bet you've never even heard of the people who were BURNED ALIVE in Odessa on May 2, 2014. They were peaceful protesters against the Nazi regime in Ukraine. Do you have even a REMOTE idea how many people have been murdered, tortured, kidnapped to be never found in Ukrane in the past eight years? Did you even know that the people in Eastern Ukraine have been METHODICALLY shelled, day after day, for the past eight years? All those people were "guilty" of was defending their right to speak Russian, maintain and nourish their culture and history, and their resentment of the Nazi movement that was gaining momentum in Ukraine by the hour. What do you know about the Crimea, other than we 'occupied' and 'annexed' it in 2014? I bet not much. Well, of course, it takes a thirst of knowledge, time, and minimal research skills to dig out the truth. It is much easier to blindly consume 'the truth' your 'freedom-loving' government keeps feeding you!
