What a classy and great guy Rich Fields is. I remember hearing him announce Bob's last show. Rich's opening was fantastic. It really matched the excitement of the day. Great Job Rich.

Rich should have taken Bob’s place on the show. Rich had tpir in his blood. No one loved tpir more than Rich. It showed on all the episodes. Must have been politics.

I could understand Rich's emotions as he gave tribute to Bob Barker. I'll never forget the closing of Bob's last show as host of The Price Is Right and the hug Rich Fields and Bob Barker shared. It's obvious they were dear friends. Farewell, Mr. Barker; you brought a great deal of joy to all of us.

I was really hoping he would make it to 100, so that TPIR could hold another epic birthday celebration for him in person - the only difference from his 90th was that he would be wheelchair bound (according to my prediction). Oh well, I guess no one lives forever, no matter how immortal they might seem to be - RIP Bob Barker (1923-2023). Thanks for making my childhood the best one ever!

I'm watching TPIR reruns on TPIR Channel right now, remembering back in the day when that show and Mr. Barker were the perfect companions while home from school, laying sick on the couch. I'm old enough to remember Truth Or Consequences, and I always loved that show too. This was harder to write than I ever suspected. 😢 We miss you, Bob. You were part of the family. 💯❤️

@@cricketcustomer2164 No. Mike Richards, the executive producer at the time (yes, the same Mike Richards who tried becoming Jeopardy host) wanted to take TPiR in a new direction, which included an announcer with more experience in improv.

Evelyn Warfel took over as exec of TPiR when Richards left for Sony. ... And when Richards was FIRED from his exec role at Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Michael Davis immediately took over Jeopardy, and Bellamie Blackstone took over WoF one year later.

Rich is now a motivational speaker. He moved to Tampa. Rejoined TV in November 2021. Made a remark about a colleague having a felony in November 2022. Quit TV the beginning of this year and became a motivational speaker.

I've always found it interesting how Rich talks about how close he was with Bob, and yet in this interview and others he only ever refers to him as "Mr. Barker".

Rich had a podcast and there too he would say "Mr. Barker". One can have a close relationship with somebody without refering to them by a first name. Rich does that out of respect and out of reverence to Mr. Barker.

Yes, RIch was the 3rd permanent announcer after Rod Roddy. He was the show's announcer from the tail end of season 32 until the end of season 38.

Believe it or not guys, Bob going up to heaven,wasn’t a surprise, I kind of knew he was gonna go up to heaven at 99 in a half, it wasn’t a surprise to me, and not reach a 100 no matter what, I mean the odds weren’t good at all of him reaching 100, he’s still frail as of right now up in heaven, been very frail since 2016, I mean of course it’s sad, but not heartbreakingly sad.
