As a McLaren fan, this race was crazy. I really like both drivers and was really happy seeing Norris win in Miami. After McLaren pitted Norris and Piastri, I realized how stupid McLaren can be. They wanted Norris to give up his place after getting a 5s lead. Even though I wanted to see Piastri win, and listening to Norris's engineer beg him to slow down was painful, and even though I agree with Norris giving up the position, McLaren should have pitted Piastri first.

The McLaren race engineers/strategists are incompetent but as a McLaren fan I’d rather put my faith into Oscar rather than Lando next year. Lando has lost atleast 5 races throughout his career due to errors he has made and it’s always similar errors. He never learns from mistakes. Bad starts, overly aggressive attacking that results in going off track/crash, not pitting when told to (Sochi), etc. he has 1 win to his name after having the fastest car for what 7-8 races now?

McLaren and Lando took allot of the celebration from Oscars win. # The pit stop was all 100% McLarens fault. #2 Lando should have stuck to his guts and NOT give up the lead. Lando choose not to give up up until the last minute robbed every part of making oscars first 1st plain win feel like a 3rd place. Does Lando have a reason to be selfish? ASOLUTELY! What is max car crashes in multiple races not scoring points? What if the championship comes down to a few points? Oscar will never ever get back his 1st win and i don't blame him for feeling so calm, it feels gifted by him by Lando when McLaren should have not fked it up again. Its a though situation.

McLaren situation. Question: do they want to win both the WDC & Constructor's? Appropriate strategy: driver closest to the championship lead be prioritized for race wins. WRONG strategy: Creating a situation where you ask your closest challenger, Lando, to yield 7 points to Max. McLaren doesn't have the guts to tell Piastri that he is the No. 2 driver since he has no chance of getting to Max's lead! So doing the RIGHT thing is to focus on getting Lando as close as possible to Max. If Lando loses the WDC to Max by less than 7 points by the end of the season., I'll like to hear what Andrea Stella has to say. Grand Prix wins and WDC titles don't come very often. You better grab it when you have the chance

I mean the ‘Team’ element of F1 has always been a complicated one. As fan I hate when team orders are too blatant in the trying to manipulate results at the expense of racing, but ultimately it’s just a part of the sport. If you are a team then you are a team, and the constructor’s championship is objectively the most important achievement. The problem is the glory and personal Achievement associated if the Driver’s Championship will always tug on the hearts of an F1 driver. Lando is now starting to realize he just might have a chance at beating Max this year and every point matters, so I am not surprised that he acted the way that he did. The team ultimately will only matter for so much to people that have spent their entire lives trying to achieve a singular goal and events like these regardless of the outcomes erode trust and can lead to further flashpoints in the season. McLaren should have just pitted Oscar first and avoided the drama in the first place. I applaud Lando for putting his team first even if it took 20 laps but ultimately I mostly disappointed for Oscar. The guy has been almost flawless since his debut last year, and I love his calm demeanor. He absolutely deserved to win that race but now it comes attached with the asterisk.

The championship points matter above Oscar wanting his first win. He is in his 2nd year and will have more opportunities to win. He's not close enough to Max to need the points, Lando is. Lando is the lead driver of the team and should have kept the lead. If Oscar was 2nd to Max in the points, I would expect them to give Oscar the win for the same reason.

Hamilton wasn't in undercut territory, there was no reason to pit Lando first. If Lando pitted second, he would have been free to race piastre. Once they both pitted Lando was faster and Piastre couldn't close the gap, he couldn't get within 3 seconds of Lando. I saw once he was 6 seconds back. Eventually Lando had to park his car on the straight and wait for him. I feel bad for Lando because he suffered with an uncompetitive McLaren for 4 1/2 years, Piastre only had to struggle with the team for half a season. Lando has been with the team longer and should be the clear number one driver. How often has Verstappen undercut Perez?

The "guild trip" is only half the story, McLaren threatened to withdraw their "support" for Norris. That was the moment when it finally dawned on Norris that his title bid was doomed, so he might as well let Piastri by. Never has a Formula 1 driver been so humiliated in public by his own team. Well done, Mclaren. At least, Norris knows now that he is out there on his own and that he first must destroy the whippersnapper. And yes, there is method to the madmaxness. Verstappen, by so publicly "lambiasting" his team, is now setting the stage for his departure over irreconcilable differences after the summer break.

Which championship? Drivers championship for Lando is a reach. Max and RB won't crash and burn. But the constructors championship is doable with Perez as a second. That what McLaren managed for. Stay in the top 2 spots and manage the tires to guarantee top finish 1 2. Remember, constructors championship pays the bills!
