I think the narrative that lewis would regret leaving mercedes is a short sighted idea. Lewis is leaving mercedes cause they aren't going to sign lewis long term. Lewis is signing with ferrari with a long term deal, while mercedes does not want to let another max verstappen slip through their hands with Kimi.

If I were Lewis I would have waited closer to mid-season to make a decision, but the guy has 7 wdcs over me so what do I know. It was a genuine possibility that his performance could have stayed where they were at the start of the year instead of the prodigal return now and all of the sudden the $100M Ferrari deal goes up in a puff of smoke.

For the billionth time, Lewis is not regretting his decision. It was not motivated by car performance, but by the team openly showing that they didn't want him after 2025. Not only that, but they disrespected him with refusal of an ambassador role. Ferrari gave him a contract until the end of 2027, along with an ambassador role, an obscene amount of personal money, and dedicating several hundred million pounds to Lewis's foundations. The deals were not comparable.

Problem with the cooldown lap theory is that every other team would have had to account for this as well, so if another team won, and made the same mistake, they would have been DSQ as well. So other teams and engineers accounted for this and made risks while Mercedes didn’t. Still on them.

I think the problem with George's car was that he didn't make the third pit stop, which is why his tires wore out more than the others, because no other car had that problem. About Checo's performance, specifically in this race, lets not forget that his car had the previous configuration, that he had problems with his battery, a terrible strategy that put him in traffic with medium tires instead of hards, and also the data from the practices showed that McLaren and Mercedes were faster than Max Red Bull. About Red Bull staying with Checo, I think is because it is easier to try to help him out, than to start from scratch with a new pilot... and we all know that Liam didn't have an amazing drive in Max's car at Silverstone two weeks ago.

Checo will stay till the end of the year for sure. Red Bull doesn't want to do more mid season driver swaps because it makes them look weak. However they will totally sack him after the last race of the season unless he finds some crazy performance during the summer break. Ricardo or Liam will be there next year.

i don’t think Lewis is regretting his decision, he’s always wanted to drive for Ferrari and he saw an opportunity and took it plus he’ll be reunited with Fred. Red Bull did not say they were committing to Checo for the remainder of the season, they said something like “at tracks where he’s had good results previously” and then there’s also a 3 week window where ~I think~ they’ll reassess and probably replace him before the end of the season.

i don’t feel like lewis is the type of person to make a such a big decision based on the foreseeable future. Even if ferrari doesn’t do as good as merc next year, their performance is not the whole reason why he’s moving and we literally saw that last weekend with the way they treated lewis throughout the race. People said the same thing when he went from mcl to merc in 2012 and now look at him. I trust lewis’ judgement.

The history, brand and Ferrari fans, along with his own fans and reputation, will be enough to keep his future endeavours going until he's an old man! Are you going to do a review on why Sargeant ended up flopping in F1? I’ll admit he wasn’t helped by having an inferior car for much of his time at Williams, but he did crash a lot. You could argue a lot had to do with the car and him feeling he had no option but to push it as hard as he could and as a rookie the mistakes are par the course.

FYI another F1 channel called "FP1Will" is getting copyright claimed by F1 - maybe because of the use of footage. You don't use a lot of videos of F1 but and is mostly commentary and pictures so maybe you should be safe but then again YT doesn't check anything when a big company claims it, so I don't know if using licensed pictures should help. It all comes down to fair use but the is a certified Liberty Media d*ck move.
