A demo is a tiny slice of the finished game. Early access is more like a beta release. I'm not saying I disagree with your sentiment, though. If anything, it's worse because you're essentially paying to be a beta tester.
@IndiBrony
@IndiBrony 6 жыл бұрын
MrClickity knows the score. There was once a time where people were hired to be game testers. They'd go around trying to fuck up the game any which way they could and report back their findings. These people got paid a half-decent wage, especially for the fact you're sitting on your arse playing the same couple of sections of a video game for 8 hours a day, but nowadays it seems some shmuck thought "fuck it! Instead of paying a living wage to a handful of people who will test to make sure our games are half-decent before the public sees them, why don't we just release it before it's done, call it a 'beta', take everyone's money and just never finish the game?" See, the problem is exactly as described: people see the potential of a great game, they'll all scramble to be the first ones to beta-test it, then by the time the lazy-ass developers have gotten to a point where they decide "eh, fuck it, it's good enough", the hype is already gone and nobody buys the damn thing. Kudos to Mojang for being one of the few developers to do it right, but since their success it seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to just make a quick quid out of whatever half-assed idea they want to shit out at any particular moment and then just drop it because they can't be arsed, or "ran out of money".

@Kris-ck2md
@Kris-ck2md 5 жыл бұрын
And entirely incorrect, Jesus Christ. Some of the map design in Dusk is downright mind-bending. I get it was an incomplete version, but he's played episode 1 and 2. That means he's been though the Escher Labs, as well as the town of Dusk itself. He's been through the Thresher and past the Erebus Reactor. That said, the only really specific aspect he complaining about was the (relatively mild) key-hunting, so maybe we can chalk this one up to hyperbolic criticism for comic effect.

Yeah I have no idea why he said the traps in Fortnite were invisible. You can clearly see them before stepping into a room, whether you recognize that they're there in time is the issue. I know that the zapper traps were made quieter at some point, so hiding them around corners is easier, but you can still see them.

Yahtzee severely underestimates how much people like early-3D graphics, especially given the recent rise of indie titles with that low-poly look. If the sparse polygons are used tastefully, than I'm all on board for it. There's nothing inherently bad-looking about simpler graphics as long as the game has a distinct, appealing visual style.

Ah, the simpler days when Fortnite was the "underdog alternative" to PUBG, and not the breeding ground for every yappy, squeaky kid and tween this side of the River Styx. That's why my BR of choice is Apex Legends; it's more refined than PUBG, less silly and obnoxious than Fortnite, and less cringingly tryhard-y than Warzone. The best of all worlds, you might say.

Slight correction: At first I also thought traps are invisible, but you can actually place them on the celing. You can still see them, but look up when you enter a room.

I would like Fortnite a whole lot more if it wasn't for the building mechanic.

Fortnite would be trash without building. It gives the game a high skill ceiling and creates fun and satisfying fights

Early access games are why Steam makes so much money and why the newcomer players that are willing to try them can't have nice things.

Crazy Tim To be fair, early access games that are ftp are fine and a good way to test games until they are fully released.

Oh i don't. Easily. But 26 Million PubG Players did buy early access. And with that success showing publishers that key lootboxes and buggy games are totally okay with the consumers. And most publisher jump on that bandwagon. So it effects all gamers.

But what you don't realise: The game isn't good. Clearly Epic can't make good games that don't have the Unreal stamp on them.

You could always play and review VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartending Action. It's good writing and a good sense of humor. You might even enjoy it.
