A demo is a tiny slice of the finished game. Early access is more like a beta release. I'm not saying I disagree with your sentiment, though. If anything, it's worse because you're essentially paying to be a beta tester.
@IndiBrony6 жыл бұрын
MrClickity knows the score. There was once a time where people were hired to be game testers. They'd go around trying to fuck up the game any which way they could and report back their findings. These people got paid a half-decent wage, especially for the fact you're sitting on your arse playing the same couple of sections of a video game for 8 hours a day, but nowadays it seems some shmuck thought "fuck it! Instead of paying a living wage to a handful of people who will test to make sure our games are half-decent before the public sees them, why don't we just release it before it's done, call it a 'beta', take everyone's money and just never finish the game?" See, the problem is exactly as described: people see the potential of a great game, they'll all scramble to be the first ones to beta-test it, then by the time the lazy-ass developers have gotten to a point where they decide "eh, fuck it, it's good enough", the hype is already gone and nobody buys the damn thing. Kudos to Mojang for being one of the few developers to do it right, but since their success it seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to just make a quick quid out of whatever half-assed idea they want to shit out at any particular moment and then just drop it because they can't be arsed, or "ran out of money".

And entirely incorrect, Jesus Christ. Some of the map design in Dusk is downright mind-bending. I get it was an incomplete version, but he's played episode 1 and 2. That means he's been though the Escher Labs, as well as the town of Dusk itself. He's been through the Thresher and past the Erebus Reactor. That said, the only really specific aspect he complaining about was the (relatively mild) key-hunting, so maybe we can chalk this one up to hyperbolic criticism for comic effect.

Yeah I have no idea why he said the traps in Fortnite were invisible. You can clearly see them before stepping into a room, whether you recognize that they're there in time is the issue. Yahtzee severely underestimates how much people like early-3D graphics, especially given the recent rise of indie titles with that low-poly look. If the sparse polygons are used tastefully, than I'm all on board for it. There's nothing inherently bad-looking about simpler graphics as long as the game has a distinct, appealing visual style.
