Welcome to Sea Doo Adventures - Episode 171 - Bugs, What Bugs!!
In this video, we are up in Parry Sound for the first time this season. We are here to check out the water levels as they are even lower this year. We head out to see what camping sites we could get to on Franklin Island. Then head out to see the Lighthouse on Red Rock Island. Were we see the lights hours and so many bugs it was crazy! Hope you enjoy this video. Cheers!

The levels are near normal now on the Great Lakes except for Lake Erie that is still above its average. Over the past 8-9 years we have been use to well above normal. But the past few winters and especially this past one, the regions that around the Lakes and the lakes themselves have seen well below normal snow levels.

I was reading an article recently that the levels in Lake Ontario, while they seem low, visually low, they are actually at what are considered "normal" levels. Because of the flooding in 2019, the lake was at an all-time high. A ton of shoreline flooding and damage occured that spring and summer. The joint Can/US committee that controls the levels in Cornwall had to make a decision to lower the level. Even with that lowering, apparently Lake Ontario has naturalized to normal levels. I am concerned about some of the back lakes though, that don't have means of control other than spring fed or natural drainage. Evapouration for sure was an issue this year on the Great Lakes with next to no ice levels. I've been on a couple of back lakes around here, one of which had 12" of ice for a while is kind of high right now, but it is a reservoir lake for the Rideau Canal. Once they put some of the water back in the canal, it will go back down as well. Another great video, Mark!

Nice yes I fully agree the water is just getting to the so called normal lake level again. It is just crazy to see how high it did get back then for sure. I agree with no ice on the lakes the evaporation was a big factor and no snow as well to fill those back lakes up. Oh I ma sure when they pull water to the Canal it will bring those lakes down even more. Thank so much great info Adam and as always thanks for watching and reaching out Cheers!

you should try adding locations VIA google maps so people watching your videos can fallow you on google maps. (just an idea) Your videos have shown me so much more of Ontario than i could ever see on my own. Thanks for the great content :)

Mark, can you share what 'cold weather' gear you wear while riding at this time of year?
@MarkForrestAdventures
@MarkForrestAdventures 2 ай бұрын
No problem, I am wearing a t-shirt, thin long sleeve shirt then a Columbia PFG hoodie and then a Columbia Water/Wind proof jacket. For pants I have underwear, then neoprene long underwear then either Columbia PFG pants covered with Columbia Water/Wind proof pants or I have a pair that have a lining and are water proof. For shoes I normal go with crocks and if needed a pair of neoprene socks or I have some water proof boots if it is really cold. Then incase anything gets wet I have a full change of clothes in the car. But again only going out in more or less nice weather. If it was any bit more I have a full wetsuit I can wear. But I prefer the nice days LOL.

Any reason why its down Mark ? Great video BTW
@MarkForrestAdventures

There are a few but mostly it is that the lakes did not freeze over this winter so more water evaporated than would have if the ice cover it. Then with that El Niño we have not got as much rain the last 2 years to help fill so those two factors are the main reason. Thanks so much as always Cheers!
