For the comfort of your hands... consider getting a few of those light and thin cotton glove liners, the "white glove dusting test" type, and cover with snug rubber gloves, like the dish washing type. You get some warmth from the liner and protection from the wind chafing and cold water. Plus the gauntlets keep water from getting in easily, unless you dunk your hands deep in the water, plus those rubber gloves are snug enough to dig with and pick up shells, etc.

Good evening, Beach Angel! So relieved to hear that you suffered no ill effects from the last storm. Hope you find lots of goodies soon! Well, that orange edge on that lightning whelk is just gorgeous! That is a hugemongous sand dollar! You could use it at the dinner table! Looks like you're going to have a full set! Oh, what a day you're having! Low tide is so much fun, when you can get out onto the flats! You should bring some of those lightweight kitchen tongs to fish shells out of the water when it's cold. That really is a cool quahog! It just shows us how resilient life is under the sea. You go, girl, take all those pretty sand dollars you can find! You can use them to repair your roof if another hurricane comes calling! 😂 I don't think you've shown any scallops at all today! I know that they're a dime a dozen, but I still love them! We merfolk are always looking for a newer, more comfortable bra with better coverage! I personally tried a matched pair of Atlantic Cockles, but they weren't a good fit! Hey, you didn't find any, or so it appears from your end shot! No worries, I've got my own sunrise scallop on a cord about my neck. It reminds me that I am a child of the sea, no matter how far from home I wander. Thank you for taking us along with you. Maybe now I'll warm up. I got cold just watching you! Two suggestions for keeping your lower half warm in the water: wetsuit bottoms 1.5-2mm and waterproof socks (the brands I have are Randy Sun and SealSkinz). I used both earlier this month on Sanibel and stayed warm the whole time. I wore the socks with and without sandals.

Love the shells too! I went to the beach yesterday for shells and sunset! I had a guy ask me if you could eat the closed clams! I told him you can’t remove live shells from the beach, he dropped the shell like it was on fire! 😂

Dear Sharmon, Wow, I looked up the temperature in celsius: I was amazed that you didn't wear more clothes. Or a warm winter jacket. When it's below 10°C/50°F, I wear gloves and a scarf. And a big, warm coat. But I hate cold weather, I was born in the wrong country. 😂🥶 You are brave! And I can totally understand that you had to warm up after this beach trip. Thank you so much for defying the cold so we could enjoy your beach adventure!❤ And what a beautiful shells you have found!! You've got to love the albino lightning whelk. 🤩 And that huge lightning whelk as well. And all those huge sand dollars. I know that you will make them pretty after they've visited your special "spa". Same for the crown conches. I'm always surprised that you find them most of the time only in the mud. We moved to Florida to get away from the cold and snow. I will likely never shovel snow again, however I will probably get cold from time to time and that's okay. Those WERE some honkin big sand dollars!! Yeah. I didn't bleach one of my sand dollars that had that cool pattern and I think the pattern's still there. Speaking of horse conchs, my friend Lisa found 2 good sized ones last week after a wind event. It was neg low tide and we rescued about 10 big live ones off the rocks (put them out past). She actually found 2 empty ones way out after that . I was already down the beach but got a picture later. Lol. I'm laughing because you won't EVER have enough crown conchs or ffc's to stop picking them up 😂 I can't believe all the albino whelks you find down there! I still haven't found one - just a ton of albino prickly cockles... Love the terns too. You had another great day at FMB. Seems you always do!😊 Thanks Sharmon! xxoo

FMB was good to me once again. Good for Lisa on saving those horse conchs - she was rewarded with her emptys! Yeah, I am ridiculous with the FFCs and crown conchs. They're just SO PRETTY! Hi Sharmon! Oh I really enjoyed this beach tour. You found so many cool treasures. My favorites included the albino lightning whelk and the orange one and one with caramel tips and dark fudgy looking lines, the crown conchs (especially the smaller ones with the bright color rings), those big nutmegs (I love the beaded look), that cool repaired quahog and especially the sand dollar with the darker pattern and the those hinged very spikey jewel boxes. (you could glue a pearl inside a hinged one and make a necklace). Looks like the you got lots of beachy presents. Have a Merry Christmas, my friend!

You could wear some of the latex gloves used for washing dishes to keep your hands dry and they’re thin enough to still be able to pick up even the tinys. Might help keep your hands warmer

Hello I’ve been watching your video’s for over a year now & I always look forward to them. We stayed on Fort Myers Beach at the Royal Beach Club Resort in 2019. We were planning to go back the spring after hurricane Ian. Unfortunately the hurricane totaled the resort. The Royal Beach Resort was right down the beach from Times Square & the pier. I was wondering if in the videos of you collecting shells on Fort Myers Beach if it is near Times Square? I love Fort Myers Beach & hope we can vacation there again in the future. I totally understand why you love it there so much. Thanks for sharing your beach walks & shell collecting with us.

The only time I really go shelling near Times Square was if I had company in town and we wanted to be near the action. For the shells I go to the South end of the beach, towards Lovers Key. I have convinced myself all the good shells are at the south end of the island so that's where I normally go shelling on FMB.

😂 My husband walked into the room just in time to hear “Only Dead Things go home with me “ and he didn’t know that I was watching a shelling video. 🤭🤣 I had to quickly explain. Ha! All those sand dollars!!! I seem to only be able to find the living ones. I took an ecology tour years ago when my family went on a Girl Scout trip with my daughter’s troop. They showed us how to tell the living ones from the dead ones based on the hairs being present. Someone asked if it had hairs but they were not moving and it’s definitely all dried out, could you take that one. The tour teacher told us that those freshly dead ones would stink terribly if you took them home. I have only ever found 2 tiny little sand dollars that I could keep and they were smaller than a quarter and they broke before I got home with them. 🥹 Maybe on my next trip!

I have found those teeny, tiny sand dollars too and they are so fragile. Makes me wonder how on earth those critters get a chance to grow up and get big! And LOL on the dead things 😂

Hi Sharmon, I love your videos! I will be visiting the Sanibel / Fort Myers area in the middle of January this year. Can you tell me what the weather will be like at that time of year? I'm coming from Pennsylvania so I don't mind cold weather I was just curious how cold it could be.

It depends! It can be in the 40's/50's very early and it will warm up to maybe the 60's/70's - it's a hard to know so I always suggest dressing in layers!

Right now I'm using short, waterproof lace up boots. I didn't buy them for shelling but the ones I did buy for shelling hurt my feet! I will probably just keep wearing these short boots until it warms up again. I walk too far to wear big boots or shoes that aren't comfortable 😃

Bunche Beach shares the bay with the north end of Fort Myers Beach, however Bunche and Fort Myers Beach are not very close together.

I have watched you go to Fort Myers beach a lot of times. I’ve been watching you ever since you started your channel. I live in Texas but every so often I get to go to Florida and go shelling. We used to stay on Sanibel but last year we stayed on Marco Island and that was fun! This year our family is planning a trip to Florida again but this time we’re probably going to stay in Cape Coral. So I would like to go to Fort Myers Beach, Bunch beach and maybe Lover’s Key. I’ve seen your videos about all three places. Can you tell me where the best place to park is? I want to be sure to go to the right spots.

Sanibel has several beaches with parking so that's is up to you! Lovers Key is a state park so there is parking there too and Fort Myers Beach parking is really tough, but you can park at Bowman's and look for wentletraps!

This pier is on the south end of the island. There are public parking spots along Estero Blvd that you can park.

The resort is miles away from the part of the beach I like to go beachcombing at, so as far as I can tell the resort won't effect anything other than traffic when I'm trying to leave the island 😃
