A few things: 1. There is zero literal value in these cosmetics, no matter how exclusive they are. Unless you plan on selling your account, which is a _major_ violation of TOS. In fact, removing exclusivity will help curb the issue of account selling, since the biggest pull for buying an account is the rare and exclusive cosmetics they have. 2. I don't like the "Epic can just make a new variant of a cosmetic" argument. While true, that isn't enough to please most people yearning for a skin. Epic could make 100 different variations of a single skin, and they could all look objectively better than the original, but despite all of that, it's still not the original skin, and that's the issue. Adventure Peely, Toon Peely, Peelybone, etc. are all great skins, but they're still not the original Peely. For anyone who desperately wants the original skin, those alternate skins might not be enough. 3. Everyone will still be incentivized to purchase Battle Passes for three major reasons: the price, the expedience, and the guarantee. Either pay 950 V-Bucks now, get all the Battle Pass cosmetics now, and get all of them guaranteed, _OR_ wait a year and-a-half and pay way more than 950 V-Bucks for a single cosmetic... if it happens to be in the current rotation of the ever-changing, always-fickle item shop. And there's not even a guarantee it _will_ return. The choice should be clear. Take the Battle Pass. 4. The "You only want these cosmetics because you don't have them/ you won't even use them once you have them" is 100% a strawman argument. That's just your opinion. That might even be a bit of projection. _You_ may feel that way, but others may not. How can you know the reason behind someone wanting a cosmetic? How can you know for certain who's going to use what cosmetic when they finally get their hands on them? You can't. You may have seen it happen several times in the past, but those people don't represent the entirety of the community. 5. I do understand that some people enjoy the feeling of having an item that signifies their veteran status in the game, that they were there to support the game during that one specific time. I have a solution to this that Epic already seems to have thought of as well: unique skin styles for OG owners. It happened with The Paradigm. This should, in theory, please those who want a status symbol and bragging rights, but also the players that hate exclusivity shouldn't lose sleep over a simple recolor. Also, there is no way Epic won't add past Battle Passes to this new policy. Be it pressure from the community, or from third parties, I am fairly certain that Epic will let the other half of the genie out of the bottle at some point. But maybe that's just me trying to will it into reality. Who can say? Time will tell.

I think you're missing the obvious here, a battle pass cost 950 Vbucks, a single skin costs on average as low as 1,200 or as high as 2000 vbucks. Now a battle pass (which cost 950) comes with about six skins So even if you want the battle pass for one skin you're still paying less for that one's skin then if you waited two years to get them in the shop. There's also the exclusivity grace period of 18 months.

If they want to hold some exclusively to the old items, just sell the entire battle pass for one solid price, not separately. For limited time events or such. (I.E.: Chapter 1 Season 1: Battle Pass available for 24 hours in the store for a set price) can be full price, $70 bucks, $50 bucks etc etc.

What I can see them doing is just releasing the old skins for their rarity price like carbide is legendary he is now 2000 v bucks and you get his challenges to level him up. Maybe they would have to adjust the xp rates in it though since it’s so easy to get xp in chapter 5 im already level 90 in this new battle pass for season 4. I kinda want them to just sell the old passes like in halo and you can level them up whenever you want.

Most people who have those exclusive cosmetics DON'T gloat about it. Honestly, most of them have likely left Fortnite over the years and never returned. I say this as an OG player who's played through nearly every Season in the game. Most of my Epic Friends are players who haven't logged into their account in an least 2 years, many of them 3, 4, and 5 years ago. And I can at least speak for myself, as someone who owned the og Paradigm skin, by saying I wasn't upset when it returns. In fact, I even predicted 30 minutes after the accidental re-release that it would be another Purple Skull Trooper/Pink Ghoul Trooper situation lol

That's the thing that sucks is, the attitudes of the people who negatively gatekeep, are part of the reason why people want exclusivity gone. I do genuinely think it's cool that I have a virtual trophy that shows I supported Fortnite within a specific time frame, but that doesn't give me the right to throw it in someone's face and use it as a way to show how much better than you I am. I enjoyed battle pass exclusivity because it was a way that you could put on a skin and show people " hey look I've been playing since 2017 " or something like that. Which is fun. It shows people your a long term player and you may be good at the game, I also love it when I wear a super old outfit like say the og galaxy skin or rouge agent and I see somebody else in my lobby wearing a skin from that time period, it's a feeling on kin ship and now that isn't really gonna be a thing anymore moving forward. We'll for the older cosmetics it still will be. But I think that was a really enjoyable part of it.

"there's no point of a battle pass now" is not really true. You still get 100+ cosmetics for $10 and your money back in the form of 1500 bucks (it's also "free" if you get the fortnite crew). The battle pass still has value, the people who say it doesn't are people who purely get the battle pass for "exclusivity". It's a good change, new players who pick up the game later down the line can now buy certain cosmetics they wouldn't normally be able to get. Hoping for old passes to return someday 😭🙏. The people who want those cosmetics, want to run those items, if you want exclusivity, just lock an edit style for the OGs, it becomes even more egregious when storyline characters pop up more often, like jones or foundation, people who end up liking those characters won't be able to obtain them. People need to understand FOMO is partially still in play. Theres not a gauranteed chance a certain skin from the battlepass after a year and a half. Also, superstyles are exclusive if you bought the battlepass that season, if you didnt, and you buy the skin a year later, you just get the regular skin and a random regular style. Epic wouldnt just released the battlepass for you to grind to lvl 300 just for little old timmy to buy it for 10 dollars. Also, if epic loses license to the characters for next season, the skins will NEVER return. People need to stop getting hopes up.

My biggest question is that if you own a battle pass skin already and it comes into the shop with styles that you didn't get like most notably omega with the lights, will they just give you those styles for free or are you just out of luck? 12:25 I occasionally go through and play one match as every skin I own, what I do is I favorite every skin and after each match I unfavorite the one I just used and pick the next skin till I use them all. I don't do this too often but feels nice when I do.

This is just a suggestion but they could add titles to gamer tags to let people know which seasons they played so that if you are Og or played a certain season people would know. Like let’s say accounts pre dating chapter 2 gets a “Og” or “veteran” title for their name and you have the choice to equip or un equip it. The game Sea of Thieves has a system kind of like this where players that have reached a certain level earn a title called “pirate legend” which lets other players know they are experienced. There are also other titles in that game for different things and Fortnite could do something similar with seasons. This is just an idea though, but it could be effective if they ever were to rerelease old cosmetics.

Old Battle Passes should never return, they have been marketed and sold as exclusive limited time cosmetics and should remain that way. If they want to remove exclusivity it has to apply to FUTURE battle passes only. If they rerelease old battle passes they can most definitely get in trouble for False Advertising despite what anyone says, there’s no loophole around it.

I think this is a good idea , but what they’ve should’ve done in addition to that , is to let people who had their account exist during a certain season , get back that BP , if you bought it or not , I think you should get a second chance to buy or complete it , because you were part of that experience / you paid for it but didn’t manage to finish it in time

I’ve been playing since Chapter 1 season 5, I’ve bought every battle pass (other than C2S3) since and recently and I’m a huge Marvel and DC fan but last year my PlayStation account was banned and although I don’t really care that much knowing that I won’t ever be able to get 4 of my favorite characters of all time (Storm Wolverine(the brown outfit) Spiderman and Superman hurts so I’m sure that to newer players who this is an amazing decision for them

i started playing Fortnite in chapter 2 season 1 and have bought every battle pass since (all tier 100). I personally don’t have an issue with the battle passes no longer being exclusive, but it’d be nice if the bonus styles you worked hard for didn’t come back. for example, if a skin like dr doom has 3 bonus styles, then i think the only one you should be able to obtain should be the base style. It’s also a little disappointing that they won’t be exclusive because part of the reason i have bought the battle passes over the years is because of the exclusivity, and after these next few seasons im not sure i’ll even want to buy them anymore. With all that being said, i can’t deny that i’m a little jealous of people that have skins from chapter 1 that i’ll never be able to earn, but i think that makes me appreciate whoever owns them a little more because they spent time grinding a game for cosmetics that i just can’t go back and get.

The reason I want exclusive skins is because I genuinely like them. I love Fabio sparklemane because not only do I like horses, but because he is so ugly it's funny (specially because his head pops out of cars). I like purradise meowscles because I already liked meowscles, and that outfit has green, my second favorite color. I like kymera, the customisable alien dude because even tho it is a generic alien, it still has a personality to me that I like. Before summer, my brother borrowed me his xbox and allowed me to play in his console; he didn't play ch4s3, but he played ch2s8, where Fabio appears, and believe it or not, I played with him. He also played ch2s7, where kymera appears, and I find so funny he is so forgettable that it took me time to realize: if he has rick sanchez, he has to have that one. It's funny that statement of "most likely they will buy it and it will sit on their locker", as if that wasn't what it happened with exclusive battle passes; my brother didn't like Fabio and he didn't even knew he had kymera, if i wouldn't have played those, it was the same as if he didnt had them. And for example, one of the most rare skins of all time, renegade raider, I WOULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THAT SKIN, I don't care about omega, I don't care about midas, I don't care about Deadpool. Also, pepole saying that "ohh why play the battle pass if I can buy it later" dude, as if vbucks were easy to get, I'm not going to spend them on something I don't care, I didn't bought the paradigm even though I could and even tho I knew it was a limited time skin because I don't care. And I've always thought, pepole who DO care for ex renegade raider should not be consider as "against exclusivity", they want that to stay exclusive, And even tho with this rant I'm talking about old skins, I accept that I won't play Fabio or kymera on my account, and I will never play purradise meowscles, like, I'm happy I have Oscar and I can play the game with Oscar (honestly if they had me to choose one and eliminate the others from the game, I would still choose Oscar). but this is a good change, because that means that someone in the future won't have to say the same about ex gweenpool or that samurai fish from survereys. And after all that, I do understand exclusivity because I like to be the one tony the tiger in the lobby, oscar is me, but that feeling is not worth other people not playing as that skin

This is what I'd view as the Perfect solution for the Battle Pass situation imo: Still have Collabs in the Battle pass, to build hype for them. But allow any Collab Characters within the Battle Pass to come back within the Item Shop at some point. BUT, make it so that anyone who obtained that Collab Character within the Battle Pass gets an exclusive edit style or Pickaxe, or backbling or etc... that way there's Still that exclusivity feeling there somewhat, but also allows anyone to get their favorite ip character that they grew up watching/playing and etc if they couldn't complete the Battle Pass or what have you. But I feel that Fortnite Original Characters within the Battle Pass SHOULD still remain exclusive, given it's an original character related to the game, so it's not as massive of a deal. TLDR; Collab Characters stay in Battle Pass, but come back in Item Shop, but give those who unlock them in BP a special edit style. Fornite Original Characters remain exclusive in the BP.

My personal take is that they should do smth like a mix of halo and Roblox. For old battle passes people could purchase them for the same price but still have to grind them for completion, and since they have so many goddamn skins now, instead of waiting months for a CHANCE that a skin you want returns, there is instead a catalogue of every skin and cosmetic introduced in the shop. Some people will be pissed that their shit isn’t exclusive/rare anymore, but as long as the price remains the same for the new buyer they should just suck it up. Only skins I could see not being added to the catalogue are ones from purchasing a console or phone, because I’m not sure how you could fairly introduce those

I think eventually Fortnite will backtrack and restructure their battle passes like how Overwatch handles their mythic skins. I think they should adopt a similar system by allowing a special item shop for collaboration items intended for the battle pass, but not a part of it

What part of illegal didn't you guys understand Paradigm was a mistake as well as it was a test to see OGs reaction, and as expected they were furious, that's just one skin, exclusive to AN EVENT not even a Battle Pass and it got them in deep legal issues. I do like that they are implementing this rule going forward, at the very least. It’s how you are supposed to do things when you come up with new rules. You can’t (or at least you shouldn’t) go back and change the history of your thing just so it’s fair for everyone. Think of it like a new government law getting passed. For example let’s say there an epidemic of people driving on the left side of the road, and the government creates a law making it illegal to drive on the left side of the road. You can’t go back and put everyone in jail who drove on the left side of the road before the law even existed. The law was created SO THAT it stops the driving on the left side of the road problem. This same concept should apply to anything that gets updated or new rules added, in any way in real life or online or whatever it is.

I do think if skins in previous battle passes were collabs, like Marvel, etc. Then they should be accessible and that the edit styles be the exclusive part of them. It sucks for me that during the first Marvel season i was unable to really play Fortnite as i had life stuff going on so i couldnt get that Iron Man, Wolverine and the other skins. But any original Fortnite skin should remain exclusive completely
