It's freaking ridiculous how people expect Italy to hand out citizenship for free. Many people work hard to get a citizenship in Italy after immigrating legally, and somehow people who made the wrong call to take the path of dangerous illegal entry is to be awarded citizenship because they came unsafely? How is that ever fair for the people who abide law and work hard?

As a legal immigrant myself, the more I watch Vice the more I start to understand the far right. A thing that pisses me off is the fact that illegal immigrants hate the conditions they're living in their new country but then don't tell family back home that there is no point in illegally crossing the border. Additionally to this, I hate the attitude of 'I ran from somewhere so I deserve this.' No one deserves anything, you work for it. Let's be honest, entering a country without legal documentation, health records or employment/criminal history - do you really expect an employer to employe you? People need to start realising that controlling borders isn't 'racist' but beneficial to society as a whole. Do we really need more and more illegal immigrants sitting around doing nothing or legal immigrants who understand that nothing is given to them and integrate well into our society? Far left, take a moment to understand the far right. They might be too extreme and lack proper control but have good arguments at hand. I am disappointed to see how my country in Africa is fucking up and the people are fleeing instead of trying to fix things. Once I can, I will dedicate my life in helping this development. I'm tired of seeing my people having a victim mentality and treating western countries like 'gods'.

People who have 'liberal tendancies' hide their fascism better than anyone else. People should come down hard on the U.S.A. and the U.K., who have military adventures that cause multiplying outcomes. The 'liberal economics' of the 1980s was a criminal undertaking. But, is just called Liberal economics. So many of the crimes today have 'wash it off of your hands' names. 'Liberal economics' was a name for 'favourable tax letting-away-with'.

They brought civilization to the country where you are pissing over with your goddamn ignorance and stupidity. Saying that sicilians are africans? Sicilians like I am (and lives in Germany where I work 40 hours a week) are a huge mix of arabs, spanish, french, north europeans and so on, just like any other goddamn country in this goddamn planet. I understand Syria has a civil war, what are the reasons why the civil war has gone on so long? Is Russia supporting the dictator and the US/EU supporting the rebels? We aren't being given the whole scope of the problem, just shown people fleeing from the problem.

Japan accepts migrants and refugees but can't afford to accept a large number of them. Japan is the size of Montana state in the USA. It is not that Japan does not accept refugees or migrants via proper channels. It is just that Japan is not that attractive to migrants as compared to Europe and North America. Migrants also take into consideration the language of their destination. European languages such as English, French and Spanish have more speakers ( from former colonies/protectorates) outside their linguistic origin country, while Japanese language has few speakers outside Japan. Due to language barrier, integrating into Western societies is easier than integrating into Japan. On top of that, Japan is so far away from so many places. It is at the eastern edge of the Eurasian landmass.

If my country were caught up in civil war, violence, genocide making my life hell I'd get the fuck out as well, so I can't blame them for wanting to come over to Europe. That said there are several things to consider. 1. Italy can't continue to deal with this situation all on its own, it should receive aid from the rest of the EU. 2. Having all people from unstable African countries move to Europe is not sustainable in the long term. 3. Many European countries are experiencing economic crises, and unemployment rates are extremely high. Shouldn't their countries act in the interest of their citizens as well? Also, although some of the immigrants' attitudes might come off as "ungrateful" it is in their own interest to protest their conditions. Being quiet and thankful for the little that is given might seem more polite, but it's not going to change the way they're living.

If their home countries were so bad that they'd risk life and limb for safety, and they have it provided to them for free once they arrive, at the tax payers expense, you'd think they'd show a little appreciation. And who are they to talk about Europe being one nation with no borders and demanding citizenship and freedom of travel/collection of benefits in the country willing to dole out the most. Absolutely preposterous.

The problem in a nutshell is that these people are in an overwhelming majority going to take from productive society. And in Europe, there is already a scary ratio of people who take vs people who produce. And it only gets dramatically worse with migration. Some of them work, sure. But as a whole it is a big minus to the real productivity. They will not change their culture, but if they ever get the right to vote they vote socialist, thus increasing the problem even more. Its a vicious circle because the number of productive people is decreasing....

EVEN THEM ARE OFTEN SHOCKED ABOUT THIS KIND OF INCIDENTS. i mean you come hear and ask for help. but never FORCE to be HELPED. its not like italy is not helping them. You can't force a majority of local people to subscribe to the idea that illegal immigrants are welcome in their country, because they obviously are not. The compassionate thing to do is to prevent illegal immigrants from making the trip in the first place. The agenda of people who want more illegals to enter their country are often founded on the idea that they can derive more political power. Somehow in their brains they think it can be justified as compassionate when they are the source of the lies that bring these illegals to the country in the first place. I am very socially liberal and I am all for equal treatment of every ethnicity, but watching all these random foreigners trying to settle Europe really isn't right. I don't care how worse off they are in their own countries. What Europe needs is educated intelligent people, not refugees from war torn and poverty run areas. I know they're in a tough situation, but Europe can barely handle it's own problems, let alone accepting people from around the world acting as a charity for poor people. I know I sound like a dumb conservative right now, but on that particular issue the conservative viewpoint is not that bad. Not at all. Europe should start acting more like Australia. It's pretty much impossible to get a visa to try live and work in Australia. Why? Because they only accept very intelligent and well educated people that they have a need for. That's why Australia right now is the best country in the world according to the Human Development Index. Highest wages, best standards of living etc. A strict immigration policy is not that bad actually.

I can’t understand why the Italian Government is to blame for this tragedy?!?! Fleeing your own country on a boat built for half of the amount of people who were on board, is not the fault of Italy, they knew it was a huge risk and yet they all got on the boat. My heart goes out to immigrants in these situations but these people chose to gamble with their lives and unfortunately 300+ lost that gamble. This is a one sided story, never telling the other side of the immigration crisis. It’s a very unfair story. Tragically these people died but it’s so unfair that the blame falls on Italian hands!!!

We also had to (and have to) pay for the place to stay, food, bills and the lawyer. They don't deserve to be in this beautiful and welcoming country if they can't appreciate what they get for FREE. And Vice, I don't like fairly tales, I like documentaries. I'm very disappointed.

What is happening to these poor people is NOT the Italians' fault. It is their countries that are messed up in the first place. Europeans have been doing their best, and look at how they are treated back. Have you got better solutions to house these millions of people ? Maybe we should give them appartements in central Rome, or on Avenue Foch in Paris ?? They are already given basic facilities, that's a fair start no ?

2 things come to mind after watching this. 1: The refugess are grossly mislead by the smugglers, by the somewhat truth that you get free education, free hospitals, jobs, money if you are unemployed. Overall a better life. Comparing that to the living standards of the most of Asia and Africa countries, it is much more desireable, of course. But all of this is only achieveable if you are a citizen of EU, which is hard to obtain these days. 2: A genuine, and somewhat justified fear from the EU countries that is if immigration isn´t controlled, as to a level where public offices can keep up, refugess will just roam around never contributing to society in any way. Sorting to the only means left to survive, crime. I also believe the reason why people are reluctant to accept these refugees into their way of life, is the massive culture gap, and the masses of uneducated potential workforce. It is a fact that manual and/or uneducated labor demands is decreasing, meaning they would have to offered extensive education, but firstly after the language barrier is overcome. It is a massive task, that is upon the Eu, and i am not sure EU is up to it. Only time will tell.

I hate to state the obvious, but this whole problem would be solved if Italy turned these boats back. Why aren't they doing that? Other countries have, because it's important to set a precedent that illegal immigration isn't tolerated. And the migrants in the video don't seem grateful AT ALL for what Italy has given them. VICE shouldn't act so sympathetic.

"They have a right to live where they want." But do they? Is there a legal precedent that states that an individual's desire to live in a certain country supersedes the laws of that country? You might argue some case of a "natural" law, but what does international law state? Can a country be forced to accept immigrants that it cannot support? What about the rights of the citizens of the home country?

I get soo sick of Vice's obvious bias in these videos. Jeez. My grandmother moved to the US from Germany after WW2 because she had nothing to go back to; her entire hometown was bombed flat. That being said, I've never met anyone that was against illegal immigration as much as her. Back when she moved here, she had to agree to NEVER go on welfare, she had to learn english from scratch, and had to work hard to follow the rules and immigrate the legal way. Now the small town that she and my grandpa raised my mother in is completely overrun by illegals, the town is NOTHING like it used to be. It's just another little Mexico now. Everything is in Spanish, the county had to build a brand new human services builing to accommodate all the new arrivals for their welfare. This isn't in California or Texas or some border state, nope, this is in middle of nowhere in southern Minnesota. It's just kind of sad. But I digress... My opinion is that when you keep letting in illegals, their numbers just keep increasing exponentially. And that seems to be the case in Europe. There is just too many of them! And Vice seems to report these same things over and over - whatever group of people are living in horrible conditions and the government is doing nothing about it. So what IS the government supposed to do? Give them an apartment, all the food they want, healthcare, and whatever else they need. Then what is their motivation to better themselves? Even if they want to work it's not like there are many jobs available for them - it sounds like there aren't enough for the citizens. When do we stop accepting EVERYONE and say enough is enough, it's time to focus our little resources on the people we already have? These African countries have to get their act together and take care of their own citizens eventually. Colonialism can only be blamed for so long. I'm sure some idiot will label me a racist or some shit, but honestly I'm NOT anti immigration. If it wasn't for others going to new countries, I wouldn't be here! So that's not what I'm arguing. The bottom line is I get so sick of people going somewhere illegally with absolutely no plan, and then get upset that they don't have the exact same standard of living that the others in that country do. It's something that needs to be worked for - not something that's handed to you. ...just my 2 cents
@amichair
@amichair 10 жыл бұрын
Well the reason her apartment was bombed flat is because her people invaded Poland, France and a bunch of other countries in a manner much worse than what Africans are doing. It's important to remember that even though illegal immigratione should be dealt with it's wrong to colonize other people(I'm talking about the future which I hope will not be filled with the fourth reich. Most Germans are undercover Nazis nowadays.)

Fuck, since I'm physically unable to have children, I can't even do that small part. Initially I wrote my comment to vent about the video. It was just frustrating to watch all these Africans complain about the government not helping them. What were they expecting to happen? Thanks for giving me some other things to consider st least.
