There are factories now coming up in India every week or so with employment generation of more than 50,000 people at single site....earlier it used to be 4 to 5 in a whole year. Even though the services sector is little bit down right now due to global slowdown, the overall mood is uplifting among general people.

India has progressed at a phenomenal pace over the past ten years particularly with regard to infrastructure. 1. The number of highways has doubled. By the end of the decade, over 20,000 km of 4 to 8-lane access-controlled expressways will crisscross the country with modern rest areas at every 50 km.And by 2045 another 30,000 km of expressways are planned to be completed. Six-laned ring roads are being planned for most major cities. 2. The number of airports has doubled, with second airports being built in Mumbai and Delhi. The second Delhi airport managed by Zurich Airports can be extended to six runways with 90 million annual passengers capacity. By 2040 fifteen cities are envisaged to have two airports, and Mumbai possible a third one. 3. Five hundred railway stations are being redeveloped , these ultra-modern railway stations with modern airport-like facilities. In the big cities these ultra-modern railway station will match those in China. 4. Double-tracking freight rail corridors with the first 2800 km tracks being ready by the end of the year. It will double the speed of freight trains. Soon to be extended to rest of country where all major industrial areas will be double track connected to ports. Ultimate goal is to reduce freight cost to 8 %. 5. Metro rail systems are being built in nearly 40 cities, with India having the second-largest urban metro system in the world ( 2000 km ) by the end of the decade. The Delhi metro system itself will be over 500 km by the end of the decade. Fourteen metro lines are under construction in Mumbai. Both Mumbai and Hyderabad are planning to have over 400 km of metro. 6. The first high-speed rail ( 320 km/hr) from Ahmedabad to Mumbai will be completed in 2028. It is being built along the lines of the Japanese shinkansen. Planning work has started on similar HSR to links to all major cities over the next two decades. 7. Fifty-three multi-modal logistic parks are being set up throughout the country - all with railway and highway connectivity. 8. Following the China model, Dozens of specialized industrial parks are being set up nationwide - bulk drug parks, pharma, medical devices, automobiles, toys, electronics, textiles, chemicals, aeronautical, etc. 9.Over 375,000 5G towers have been installed, and according to the supplier, Ericsson is the fastest rollout of 5G in the world after China.

Russia as a strategic partner is a liability for India. We're seeing that already in India's reliance on Russia arms. Russia can't deliver because of manufacturing challenges, compounded by insatiable domestic demand. The serviceability of India's existing Russian kit doesn't bode well either, since Russia has been forced to buy back spare parts from its (former?) customers. Moreover, as Russia grows more and more dependent on China, there's no question of Russia increasingly choosing China's side at the expense of India. You had better rethink your strategic partnerships.

People don't realise how quickly india is propping up its infrastructure now. In just five years some of the cities have been transformed beyond recognition, some new cities have been built that are super modern. And this trend is predicted to be in the rise meaning that the infra could only get more and more better from here. The main issue is that India won't accept companies coming to india on their terms. India wants to control the terms but companies now have no choice but to gulp it down. India has both, increasing consumer base as well as manufacturing potential. If the wstern companies want more profits then they have no choice.

@@ibrahimtouman2279 To be completely honest, India should not think of surpassing china or USA for now. The target first should be to become number three surpassing Japan and Germany ( which might happen in just three years) and improve the per capita income. I wouldn't say that India is 30 years behind but sure it's definitely 15-20 years behind china. But there are other factors. China didn't have to deal with the grave consequences of two centuries of plunder and slavery. Also china is not a democracy so it's not really fair to compare china and India in that sense, completely different countries.

india is strategically in a more better position in the long run than china. 1. democracy - in india, people can throw out any govt any time, its normal, even indira gandhi lost election; but in china if xe government suddenly falls 2moro there will be chaos and might result in soviet like situation. 2. potential - china is driving at its full speed and its close to overtaking the usa; but india has just picked up speed and has a lot of room for driving faster and faster, so there is more likelyhood that before china overtakes the usa, india can actually come from far behind and overtake china. 3. security - china is covered by risks the usa and japan to the east, russia to the north, disturbances in the west with no buffers and india to the south; while in comparison the south part of india is zero threat with small countries like sri lanka, only in the north india has to face china while pakistan acts as a buffer against western disturbances from the afghanistan and iran.

India will never be the center of low wage manufacturing. As to make it viable, India need to change its strict labour laws and trade barriers: it has to removes all kind of labour protections and no minimum wage, no restriction in working hours (means work 70+ hour with meager wage) and removal of various customs and tariff exemption and allowing Foxconn to operate in SEZ (thereby pay zero tax to country like what currently IT companies in India does). The net result is the extreme exploitation of workers, they get peanuts while few big guys pocket everything and get super rich (this is the Foxconn model in China). Already Foxconn tried this in India few years ago, but they faced still opposition form labour and union and suspended production and closed plants. India don't need a business model that rely on low wage manufacturing with extreme labour exploitation (see the sufferings of workers in apparel manufacturing in Bangladesh !!) that artificially inflate the gdp and gdp/capita of the countries while workers starve. Rather India needs good negotiated trade deal with foreign countries so that we can manufacturer things in areas which we have strength and innovation and can compete in other market, rather than becoming a center of low wage exploitative manufacturing. There is a reason why these companies are coming out of China, as there is a time duration after which such exploitation model does not work anymore (it runs out of juice), so it need to find a new pasture where it can continue that.

Actually, what you're forgetting is that China still rates as developing country and that its economic growth should exceed that of Germany at all times. Germany is a developed country, which tend to plateau in terms of growth because there's less untapped potential left. They're constantly at or near peak performance, so gains are relatively small even at the best of times. China's main problem is that its economy is geared towards high growth. When said high growth doesn't materialise, a great many companies will collapse because they've overextended themselves in the mistaken belief that China's economy is immune to shifting fortunes. The CCP has its work cut out propping up heavily-indebted megacorporations and trying to keep the Jenga tower from collapsing. It will get worse before it will get better.

Please. China couldnt even make ballpoint pens until 2017. The ASPI is a fear mongering publications trying to spur Australian military spending. In February 2020, Australian Labor Party Senator Kim Carr described the ASPI as "hawks intent on fighting a new cold war." Former Foreign Minister Bob Carr (no relation) said the ASPI provides a "one-sided, pro-American view of the world" and criticised the group for taking what he claimed was almost $450,000 from the U.S. State Department, to track Australian universities with Chinese research collaborations, and "vilifying and denigrating Australian researchers and their work." Bob Carr's criticism of ASPI came after ASPI president Peter Jennings had raised questions about the donation of $1.8 million by a Chinese billionaire to a group related to Carr. ASPI replied that it "doesn't have an editorial line on China, but we have a very clear method for how we go about our research," and claimed that the true amount of State Department funding was less than half that amount stated by Carr. ASPI was criticized by former diplomats John Menadue, Geoff Raby, and Bruce Haigh, with Haigh referring to ASPI as serving the foreign policy interests of the Liberal Party of Australia. In July 2022 an article in The Economist described ASPI as "hawkish". In October 2018, the Australian Digital Transformation Agency criticised an ASPI report on the Australian Government's digital identity program. The Agency stated that the report "was inaccurate and contained many factual errors", which "demonstrate a clear misunderstanding of how the digital identity system is intended to work". There is much more criticism than this, feel free to read them for yourself before you post such embarrassing 'facts' again.

@@TheKkpop1 China is the land of shortcuts and facades. I'll leave you to research why China's patent surge doesn't mean much, you can start with 'strategic patenting' but here's a snippet. Most recently, Eberhardt, Helmers et al. (2017), first employing quantitative analysis based on representative firm-level data from SIPO and USPTO between 1985 and 2006, revealed that the patent surge at SIPO was driven by factors other than underlying innovative behavior, including government subsidies that directly encouraged patent filings. Different from the study by Hu and Jefferson (2009) using aggregated patent data, they differentiated between the three types of patents and focused on invention patents that represented for more novelty and inventiveness. Hu, Zhang et al. (2017) further confirmed that the correlation between patents and innovative factor, R&D, has become weaker, especially for utility models, which denoted that the patent surge was driven by non-innovation related motives. Using a more update dataset from 2007 to 2011, they justified the government policy incentive hypothesis. Meanwhile, they manifested that most of the patent growth came from firms that were not active in applying for patents in the past. They also left space for further research on other non-innovative motivations that played a part in propelling the patent boom. What’s more, there have been controversies on the relationship between the quality and quantity of Chinese patents during the patent surge. Li (2012)’s empirical examination based on the ratio of patent grants to applications also implied that the patent surge was not followed by lowered patent application quality. However, this implication was soon confuted by other scholars. Zhang and Chen (2012) estimated a lower value of patents requested by domestic applicants than foreign applicants. After assessing the quality of Chinese patent filings in EPO, Thoma (2013) provided support for the “strategic patenting” hypothesis on the lower value and quality of Chinese patents. Dang and Motohashi (2015) demonstrated that grant-contingent patent subsidies unintentionally encouraged applicants to file for patents with a narrow claim scope to increase the chance of grants, which resulted in lower economic value. Boeing and Mueller (2016) found an over-time quality decrease for Chinese Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications by international comparison, and they found evidence for a negative correlation between patent quality and patent subsidies as well. To sum up, a patent surge is not always a reflection of increases in true innovation
