Don't know why everyone is NOT comparing it to a R6. Other than the extra torque from the 900 cc displacement, its very close to the specs off the 2020 R6. They even used the wheels. Once you get this girl going, its going to resemble the performance of a R6. For the money, I think its a great option. But it hurts the heart that we are losing yet another legend on the road. @@pauly1k Cylinder numbers aren't all that important. It's all about the stroke vs bore ratio. The larger the stroke, the higher the torque, at the expense of max RPM. Horse power is a function of RPM and torque. There's a sweet spot where you can maximize RPM and minimize the loss of torque, and that gives you the best HP for displacement. The downside to that is low torque at the lower RPM ranges, which is not very street friendly. Generally, twins and triples have higher stroke and lower bore than their i4 counterparts, but this isn't always the case (Daytona 675).

Just bought the MT09 SP, guess I have to take the R9 for a spin then. The engine is a hoot and even on the MT you're doing 120 mph way too fast. Most people here never tried the CP3. It's just plain fun. I just sold my '21 Hayabusa, to get the MT09 and recently rode the Super Duke 1290 R. Both 180+ hp and loads of torque and so on, but it's just too much for the road. Going fast in a straight line get's old real quick (german here, it's allowed) The difference is that you can really work with 100% of the power of the CP3 engine on the road as a moderatly competent rider. I also own a Street Triple 675. I can't imagine prefering a long geared 600 over the R9 on the street. The 675 is a great bang for the buck motorcycle, but what the CP3 does from 5k to 10k feels just exactly right for a lightweight roadbike. The Z900 with more hp and more torque feels tame and boring in comparison.

This is great and I hope all manufacturers follow suit. I’m 6’2 and always felt I had to compromise between excessively powerful superbikes or cramped / cheap 600s. The only middle ground out there was the V2. Glad this is in the mix. Hope they bring the GYTR packages to this! ❤

A sport bike that actually makes sense to ride on the street, no wonder people are hating🤣 Hardcore track bikes for the street, noone's buying them, this one actually makes sense for the performance oriented crowd that won't buy a high end bike just to get it out of their system then tire of the impracticality and sell it and never go back. I think Yamaha already pushed the boundaries making the R7 riding position so hardcore, it payed off in tracking/racing but would have had a much better life selling to the public were it not for that. They made a perfect street bike then, at the last moment, compromised it to please their fanbase and stay a little closer to their heritage, resulting in a confused product that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Can't wait for the first ride reviews of the R9

I'm still somewhat tentative. I'll have to sit on it to make a final judgemental but it looks extremely promising, even for taller riders which is always an issue for me. The larger tank with the lines up higher might work for my legs and if that's the case, I'll be extremely happy.

Ive never riden one but a drag race with the ftr1200 they are almost identical and my ftr was not short on grunt. My replacement s1000r is just more serious on the road and brings me back to the goldlocks of a road bike being fun and usuable- we're all different and get our enjoyment from different elements of riding bikes. 😀

I was a little off on the pics from last week. But your shots actualy show it look pretty damn good. The only sticking point is, at least here in the US, you can get a GSXR750 with significanlty more HP for about the same price. And who really needs more than 117HP on the street and with the R9's bigger torque lower down on the rev range will make it a blast of a street bike. Think a lot of value for the money.

@44Teeth: Thank you for this video, love you guys! I feel the R9 has the right specs, looks and price to do pretty good saleswise. With the 990 RC R and the CBR 600 RR as its closest competitors up and down the price range. I admit I"m a CP3 homer. My 2019 MT-09 SP makes 123 ps / 100 Nm now after beeing dynoed, with basically 10 Nm more torque across the rev range. Stock exhaust, modified intake. When I open the throttle your Ariel Ace R video comes to my mind. So good. Blipper is also on board finally, the bike is an absolute keeper. Cheers guys ✌️
@dawsonhill4111Ай бұрын
I think quite a bit of the moaning about bikes now comes from people that are unable to interpret the performance of a bike as the linear displacement scale of days gone. Manufacturers are now using larger powerplants to create the same power with less effort and a more usable powerband for most people. But people see 890cc and think it should scale 30% more horsepower than an r6, when in reality it can make the same power earlier in the revs, with more torque, burning less fuel and in theory requiring less maintenance. Why is this a bad thing?
@mammocasАй бұрын
Because "people" are dumb, and many of them, especially the demographic interested in sportbikes, only have enough neurons and attention span to think "bigger number good, smaller number bad".
