Good video on how it should be done. Now let's talk about the general Forza driver : * If there is a wall, don't worry about braking, just use the wall to take a corner * In Street Scene, there are no walls, just use other players as your "wall point", which will help you take turns * Slowing down before a corner you do best by hitting other players * Concentrate on checkpoints and hit other players just before it, which will slow them down or take them off track, which will give you the edge. ** Obviously I am being sarcastic here, but unfortunately my hints are closer to the reality ingame than yours :( **

I have been practicing drifting a bunch. I went from only being able to throw the tail end of the car out and lose control but now i can confidently say i know how to manage throttle control much more now. Not only that but i have a better idea and grasp on throttle management. Which in my case means i can drive my car knowing how it will react to my controls. I'm far from perfect and haven't done any street races recently but i think any practice is still good practice. I found that in edinburgh you can drive between powerlines or whatever poles they are to get a very good feel for how your weight transfer handles and at speeds which your car can handle. Also you can step it up by going faster and going between every other pole. But that requires more skill so start slow and easy first

Yoo... I do this too much. I don't typically follow proper racing etiquette because I find it too difficult (which is why I'm usually a solo or ghost player), so when someone gets in my racing line, it can be difficult to slow down in time to not wreck into them, especially when they're braking. The result is usually a lot of *bump, bump, slide, bump, slide, slide, hit wall against them, pass, apologize, continue to race,* all while cursing at my own inability to correct the situation properly. Getting better, but no one else follows the racing techniques I've been using for 15+ years. It can be hard to adjust.

John Smith It doesnt have to do with “getting good”, when youre being hit by two or three cars at once. If all three are squeezing you out, going through a corner, youre going outside the checkpoint. You cant push them all around, you cant warp speed ahead, and sometimes you cant get behind them if there’s already a car blocking you in back.
@dustinhertel72613 жыл бұрын
TL;DR - Thanks! This really helped my racing! Full version: I've never been good at racing games, to the point I usually just avoid them. I tried Horizon 4 on a whim and loved how huge it was, but I still sucked at driving. I had to co-op most championship series' cause if I got 4th or 5th I considered myself lucky. Any corner 90 degrees or sharper I just resigned myself to hitting the wall (or another driver) and it became about trying to plan the hit right to knock someone off course, and myself back on course. Drifting is hopeless for me as I can't control it worth shit, and I just assumed drifting was the secret to the game. Anyway, since watching this video I went from averaging near the top of the bottom 3rd (around 8th in a 12 car race) and occasionally hitting 4th/5th, to pretty consistently managing 4/5 and sometimes getting higher. I obviously still have a lot of work to do, but just these few tips have already made a HUGE difference, since I'm no longer trying to either drift or smash my way through every corner.

about ideal lines: also take notice about what comes after the corner. because racing line its not about the shortest route around the track, but the fastest route. for example if its a straight line after a corner, you better get late apex so you will get the longest straight line as possible so you can get longer time on your maximum speed. but of course it will changed if what comes next is changed, also the grip level of track, also lateral G the car can handle picking when & how to turn is driver's ultimate skill

I've never played a racing game using manual transmission I've always been a automatic type player but for some reason your video got me to try and man the difference is amazing! After a couple hours I was flying through tracks with cars higher than S1 class without ramming the wall over and over again. I wont ever go back to auto after this. Great video!

Took me a while to understand that a more defensive and careful way of braking is a lot more effective than hitting the brake hard in the last second and sliding into the wall every.. single.. time. :D

Old man noob here and I really appreciate the tips. If you go in depth more can you explain the controller actions in just a bit more detail.

which actions?

@@Uncle_Glock Was thinking a bit about acceleration and braking. I struggle with the buttons a bit. I tend to go full on or off which is not most effective. Also gearing is my next thing to learn. Im just using auto and hope to go to shifting soon.

@@dgs127 since you struggle with accel and braking (which uses the triggers), you should practise enough to know how much you have to depress the trigger according to your car. going slow for a start is really helpful, its forgiving because low powered cars dont spin out as often but that doesnt mean you dont control the braking or accel strength of the car. i use the wheel and pedals, and from my exp its all about holding back on your input right at the moment you feel the car is starting to slip, at that point u can still save it and prevent it from oversteering. braking is actually the hardest to master, with sport/race brakes and sport tires/race tires, your braking strength can go up to 92%. accurately hitting this value on the first depress of your trigger will be achieved thru muscle memory! so practise. tl:dr practise on a slow car. for accel, never start on full depress. for braking, aim to depress to 90% of your trigger without needing to find out where that 90% is. im not sure if controller is calibrated the same as pedals, but basically 90% represents the pressure at which your wheels won't lock but you're braking hard.

The slow cars thing is definitely good advice. Right from the start, I chose to go with lower class cars so that I can practice proper driving and race craft. Although, I'm going with an B class NSX, it's a lot more grounded than tooling around with some super car. Feels like a normal, everyday car, and I can tune it for each race.
