I really don't get why Turn 10 has such a hard time getting lighting and painted materials right. All painted surfaces look like plastic, regardless of the material its on, and the light on the car is always overexposed. And then they go and put a cinematic, warm color filter, which looks nice, but certainly isn't realistic looking.

Car models are vastly superior as are the reflections and paint rendering in GT. I'm actually pretty pissed. After FH5, I expected a lot more out of the new Forza. It looks super mid and blurry. Maybe they'll patch it but image quality is pretty mediocre right now.

The sound quality of the GT7 replays is a huge step up. With a proper speaker setup the 3D effect is insane and some of the cars really sound like the real thing. But the the biggest plus of GT7 is the insane experience when using PSVR2. The texture quality, the lighting effects, the lifelike size/proportions of the interiour and other cars, the feeling in your guts... just about everything is so real.

Forza currently has a bug that makes the colors a bit washed out and black levels gray. I assume the footage here has that bug. Because in channels that analyze HDR they said Forza looks great, but ran into the bug themselves too and pointed it out. It'll probably be fixed soon.

If there's one thing GT always did extremely well, was its presentation. While GT 5 and 6 had dog water AI and those goddamn standard cars, graphically, the games looked fantastic. And the trend continues to this day, with GT7 being one of, if not the prettiest racing game from a graphical standpoint. Of course, the soundtracks from each GT game also contributed hugely to making their presentation memorable. GT7 is far from the best game, hell I wouldn't say it's a good game; the single player menu book system was incredibly linear and as a result, sleep inducing. But when it comes to the actual driving, music, and its overall presentation, GT7 is awesome.

I think the exterior of the car on GT7 looks amazing (photo realistic) I play both and definitely give the edge to GT7 in photo realism mostly their choice of color palette but Forza feels more real in cockpit mode when driving the way the sun reflects and the way glare hits your eyes is definitely more life like. FM8 needs some touch ups and fixes and I think with time it will be perfected much like GT7 and at that point it will just be user preference.

I like the difference that both titles bring. For those that think FM is hazy or doesn't look right, view some actual race footage of Watkins glen, I think Turn10 nailed the lighting for what they were going for, especially cockpit view in the rain. While GT 7 is a great looking game, it is, IMO over saturated and in this footage certainly looks more like a video game. All IMO, so all the GT/Sony freaks keep that in mind while you type or responses.

The problem is Forza looks like this 90% of the time. It's not realistic. The lighting is what ruins the image quality in FM. There are times when GT7 looks nearly photorealistic- it can trick people into believing it is real. Forza looks like a very pretty game.

Forza is not a great game, it's more like a great BETA... For now when GT7 career was already going bad, Forza's career is almost non existent, just some random races that always start with pointless practice and a few laps to move to the next, it's just as boring as like Project Cars 1 career. There's also currently no Drift, drag or anything different at all, not even race cars races which is a big WTF and it's still also missing a lot of tracks specially Nurburgring full track. AI is also completely broken at the moment and the worse I ever seen. The list of problems and bugs reported at the moment on Forza is a whole bible sadly. ps: But one thing it massively improved for sure is gameplay, now it's very close to GT and finally has a gameplay that I love but the rest just got massively worse even the visuals go from looking nice to looking pretty outdated and flat to the same plastic anime like feeling of the old Forza series, it's all over the place and it's also heavy on CPU and GPU for what it is.

The downgrade Forza got from the early trailers is insane. Looks pretty mid. GT is much sharper and with better lighting and color grading. The rain tracks look great in Forza but that's about it. Im hoping they patch Forza so it's not a blur fest. I mean Forza 7 is sharper than FM. Pretty disappointing.

I’ve been a long time Forza fan, and don’t get me wrong, this new Forza looks fantastic, but in my opinion GT7 just looks that much better. To my eyes, this may sound strange, but one of the best ways I can describe it is that it looks more tangible, like you can reach in and touch the cars and tracks. Polyphony has always been the cream of the crop for presentation as well. They each do certain things better than the other. I’m just glad we have both these games available to us.

I was thinking if there was a sound engine that was a blend of 30% FM (with far less reverb) and 70% GT7, it would probably sound pretty good for the average person. It also seems that nobody can get interior sound correct, strange when it should be the easiest camera mode to get captures of....I don't get it. GT7 is incredible. Unlike FM, it feels like a game made by adults for adults. It's not meant to be "beautiful" but rather to be PHOTOREALISTIC. Even with the potential to sell fewer copies, Kazunori continues to believe in his vision for GT. It hurts to think that our snowflake-generation is slowly about destroying all of this.

I couldn't have said it better. A game made by adults for adults. From gentlemen to gentlemen. From car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts. And you can notice all this not only in the gameplay and graphics, but in all the details: the overall presentation, the menus, all the information and history there is about the brands and cars, the music, the photography mode, the garage mode in VR, the competitions that pay tribute to the history of motorsports. Forza will never have any of that, no matter how much fake glitter they put on the paint of the cars. They don't have an actual race driver like Kazunori as the series' mastermind.

FM looks like raw d-log footage and GT7 after color correct bit heavy handed on contrast slider. FM replay audio is a bit off. Sounds like the microphone is still in the car instead of roadside.

I needed to set brightness very low and reduce HDR to 1010 on my Sony 77" OLED TV to make FM look somewhat good. Else it would look very washed out / grey everywhere instead black like in this video. Its still not great and Id like to make adjustmend to contrast and saturation but I cant do it on Xbox. Imo they did a very bad job calibrating the colors 😂

You should not ever need to make color changes on a sony tv, I have the Sony A80K 77 inch, and the tvs color across multiple content is excellent. The game just has a bad atmosphere.

FM looks more realistic to me overall. The Chase Camera is more dynamic and the sensation of speed is way better with the greater FOV. I do not know if this is changeable in both games, but thats a thing. Comparing Details on a compressed YT Video is not useful so what i mean is, that colors and how everything works together looks more realistic. GT7 looks great too, no question here. But it pops too much. It is just more of everything, wich can look great in Situations and also better than a realistic approach, but overall, i prefer the more calmed down Filter. And there it is. Both games lay on the ground compared to a properly modded Assetto Corsa. I can switch the look from FM like to GT7 like with a click of a button. If i downloaded the right ones before. But still. FM in general is a massive let down for me. I guess FM4 was the last great Forza Experience. FH is not really interesting since a long time. While good games, they are not my cup of tea. Thanks for the comparison. The ingame Replay looks so stiff and boring in GT7, i'm shocked. But the sound is totally off in the FM one. Hell. What is happening in these Sudios.

What we can discuss, is if the use of color are better on GT, which I can agree, the white filter in Forza make it look bland, but artistic choice is different than graphic fidelity, like 3d models, textures, details, etc, which Forza owns hard Gran Turismo (sometimes, the environment on GT7 looks like PS3 era...). About the sounds, you must be kidding, or you haven't saw comparisons enough, it's night and day how much better Forza is. Or simply put, you're a fanboy that don't have the technical capabilities to understand comparisons...

If you would have seen the gt7 film, you would know that they bring in each car to model them (they have several recorders that they put in the car, above, below, and on all sides of the car) they also stabilize the sounds just after, so we can say goodbye to motorsport 8 for car sounds. car interior modeling and also superior on gt7, no doubt

The car looks better on GT. The tracks look way better on Forza. I have a C8 in my real garage and GT got the “Carbon Flash” right. Forza seemed to use then same material from the Z51 front splitter in areas that are Carbon Flash , hence the dull black in areas that should be shiny. The sound is an interesting one; GT sounds better but an LT2 does not sound like that, so I give the nod to Forza (in that department).
