Know the good thing about the past two games they had a very good backstory and history behind them like Fossil Fighters had the back story that the tech to revive came from an alien race that supposedly created humanity but later turned out didn't, but Champions had a less of a backstory but still pretty good game it was the first one I had beat because I got stuck in the room in digadiga temple where you have to dig between the unbreakable bones got stuck on it for 3 or 4 years

dinorocker Nothing tops Carchar. He went from an Egyptian looking Vivosaur with large rounded jaws and pretty colorful. Yellow, Orange, Red, Blue and green, as well as not being that big. He was classified as a medium category. That's just Carchar in the past game. This game's version is yellow with boring orange stripes and for some reason classified as a T I T A N I C. HOW THE FUCK!? Consistency, what is that?

Ok, I absolutely love this series, and it’s probably the most iconic game of my childhood. Originally I hated Frontier, but playing it from a fresh point of view, it’s really not that bad. It has its own charm to it, even if it’s not the same as the rest of the series. I personally really like the bigger cast of characters, and it adds a lot more color and life to the game, even if you are being pulled around though the game a bit too much by it. (And if they DIDN’T spoil all the villains with the prologue, the story could have been pretty interesting.) And apparently it does have a very extensive post-game compared to the first two, which is a plus. Though the past two games far surpass it... but I wouldn’t give up hope for the series. The original two games were, in fact, VERY different from Pokémon in terms of mechanics, and much more strategic than Frontier.

I hate this game. I played Fossil Fighters about a year ago and found myself utterly speechless. It was such an underrated gem! What a game! It's combat was complex, yet utterly simple! The story is fantastic, and the wealth of Vivosaurs and strategy make it just great. Champions was even better! They introduced an awesome new Super Evolution system, colored fossils and cleaned up so many things! Plus a continuation from the first game is always a great thing! I loved seeing the formerly silly BB Bandits become something much more fierce... Getting the new Vivosaurs and just generally having an amazing time. Dynal and Duna as DLC really topped it off. But then Chun Soft had to happen. I already disapprove of this company more recently. They just don't understand the 3DS. Like seriously what happened to them? They made arguably one of the best Pokemon games of all time, Explorers of Sky, which is actually a masterpiece, and then they started bringing the mystery dungeon series so low with Gates to Infinity being meh, and Super Mystery Dungeon being plain disgusting. What happened in the 3DS era? I wouldn't mind driving, I mean yeah it's dumb and it controls about as well as wet sand but I could deal with it because in someways it makes more sense than shoving the giant fossils down our pants. But they had to bastardise EVERYTHING about the battle system. Like what garbage is this? Elemental Chart? Rewritten. Strategic Battles with AZ SZ and EZ? Nope. Have some dumbass friends as stereotypical and bad as the opening theme. Shove some drugs into your Vivosaurs while you're at it. A stupid Stance System that makes no sense and is a pain in the ass because it's basically a dynamic type chart, which sucks. Then there's difficulty curves that are just utterly retarded, battles that are just unfair and a whole boatload of feeling underpowered constantly is what you'll be dealing with. The story is ass, completely ignoring the past entries and outright retconning certain events. The characters I have absolutely no feeling for, apart from LEAVE ME ALONE. Just... I don't understand why Red, Nintendo or Chun Soft thought this was good. Like apart from the visuals, everything in this game is just inferior to the DS titles. It controls horribly, plays horrifically, makes you constantly frustrated and then isn't even a good story. Bring Fossil Fighters back. I want to see it back, but just not like THIS. Gimme some good old Dynal too.

Honestly, frontier gets alot of gate, and it does do quite a good amount of things wrong. But, as a die hard fan of the previous games Frontier really isn't that bad. Its at least somewhat enjoyable. I liked the story, and the soundtrack, its pretty good! The characters are stereotyoes, but most do have some good development and dialogue! The gameplay and mechanics are lackluster at best, fuck paleo pals. Driving around was really fun, but the fighting was just awful. There are very few good games that take your main guy away right at the end. Really only Monster hunter stories. I do love the look of the game, bar some of the vivosaurs designs. Its a solid 7/10 Would i reccomend it to an average person? Yeah Would i reccoment it to a fan of the original two? Not really. I try not comparing frontier to the original 2 becuase they are superior im story and gameplay

Long comment. I own all three games and played all of them thoroughly. I have over 200 hours in the first game, and almost 300 in the second. I have every single vivosaur possible in both games, and I leveled each and every last one to the max, which includes all of the evolutions of champions (except all coloured variants, literally impossible to get all of them) in addition to the regular vivosaurs. I only did all the sidequests in frontier. SO, I am completely justified when I say this, Frontier attempts to fix something which is not broken, but it can still be enjoyed. My three biggest problems with this game are 1. roaming vivosaurs, 2. battling system, 3. elements strength/weaknesses changed. The game could have been way better if it was a true sequel of champions. I would have been much happier if they only improved stuff like balancing of vivosaurs, making the story a little more mature, and more vivosaurs and elements. I really wanted to see if they would have added more elemental types, such as lightning, ice, metal, and asteroid types( cuz its literal prehistory). Asteroid types would be strong against ice, Ice strong against lightning, lightning strong against metal, and metal strong against ash. As for those elements interacting with the original four, it would be a "somewhat" weakness and strength, but not on the level of neutral. I expected something like this but was disappointed. I'm more so now because Nintendo might not come out with a new one, or they might mess up the fourth game.

On first playthrough, I thought frontier was decent. But eventually, I realized why it wasn't good, and it's a shame. Fossil Fighters is my favorite franchise of all time, and Champions is a game I hold dear to my heart. Seeing the game die like this for years with no announcement of any upcoming game, it's just heartbreaking. They need to return to the roots of the series, with proper typing, classic vivo designs, champions battle system (I personally felt that the system was refined), no bone buggies, and just going back to basics is what the franchise needs. They tried to reinvent the wheel, but turned it into a damn oval that's not as effective as the original. I do agree that frontier wasn't all that good, but it had potential. Too bad the game fell flat in executiom

The only thing I liked about frontier was the fact that it had good graphics and how you could boost stats during battle if a 4th game comes out I hope it has those two things and other things like super evolvers, and legendary vivosaurs like Igno or frigisaur. Most of the issues of the game are connected to the cars. The opening music at least works in a way as it has the feeling the prior games gave, the feeling of adventure and exploration, this is done with the rhythm, drums, and piano, helping it feel energetic. However the cars are the reason for over 70 percent of the game’s issues. And here’s the thing, the cars could have worked, by making the game have a drivable area similar to Ty the Tasmanian tiger 2, a wide open set of roads to drive on with a number of check points to get out the car. How can this work then, make the car tow a mobile lab, but have the fossils only be able to get you Dinos when you get to a hub area. This fixes over half of the problems. Get rid of the wild dinos, have them be remotely controlled or put into a frenzy, this allows for better story. Having the open world helps you give plenty to explore. This is the third or fourth time I've commented this review i wrote. OH GOD, I could go on and on about how much Frontier sucks, so I'll just paste something I said in another Fossil Fighters video: Frontier was a huge let-down from the first two. Not only were the aquatics gone, but the ice age ones too. The new vivosaurs were mainly alternates to pre-existing ones, or ones that sucked. Only exceptions for the new ones are Lythro and Spino ST. One of my least favourite things was that they changed the battle system. The originals battle system was good, champions was great. Paleo Pals were terrible, there was only a good few of them, so you're going to have either Pals that had ok vivosaurs, or the select few that had useful vivosaurs. My biggest problem was the final boss, I have several reasons why it was bad: 1. It had 800 hp, and Paleo Pals are mostly garbage. 2. IT HAS PARTING BLOW. Parting Blow makes it harder to kill the boss because it has many deadly attacks, and with the parting blow boost it becomes a bitch to kill. 3. It looks like a very ugly version of cthulu, and looks nothing like an actual dinosaur. I know Dynal, Duna, and Raptin are aliens, but at least their battle forms looked like dinosaurs. My biggest problem was the vehicles. Why? THERE IS ONLY SIX. Not counting the two AR vehicles, there is only six. Customization? The only real customization is that you can give it different colours. There was changeable wheels, but they were more so upgrades than customizations. The maps weren't as cool because they were gigantic, and that the driving mechanics were meh. There was only a few good maps, but out of the 11 different maps I only liked 3 of them. The only positives were that they were varied, but mainly unoriginal. The story was meh. Even the original had a better story. I have a few positives though: 1. The redesigns looked ok, but the originals were better. 2. The models looked nice. 3. There was no weight limit. 4. Rare fossils were finally useful. One more thing, most vivosaurs weren't even in the game from the first two. There is only around 70 vivosaurs, making the roster small. Those are my thoughts on Fossil Fighters: Frontier. I tried to like it, i really tried. It is one of my most disappointing games ever. I give it a 5.5/10. See what I mean about going on and on about it? I think my rating has changed to a 4.5/10

I totally agree that they messed up the battle formula. They also reduced the number of vivosaurs back to 100. The worst part is that it isn`t even 100 dinosaur species, but rather 90 dinosaurs while 5 have subspecies. Wrong. In fossil fighters champion, you could battle against rivals and friends any time you want. Frontier is different. The first two had island owners or high level fighters you can go against. In Frontier, Stryker would have been a great opponent, but no he is just there. Lastly, stupid A.I. However, There were some great things about the game, such as the bone buggies and wild Dinosaurs which was the most brilliant thing ever. The graphics were decent, and the the storyline was short, but good. The characters were enjoyable, and the idea of real life settings (continents) was great. Fossil Restoration and upgrades of the Fossilary was beautiful. This is arguably A Great game as well as a Bad game. In the future, They could add all the dinosaurs and creature and bring back the old formula. The game doesn`t even have bad glitches so it`s ok in my book.

here is how to improve it, keep the cars, but be able to leave cars, so you can find fossils on the ground, and or more tucked away fossils. while the car is good for moving around, and finding larger fossils, or fossils higher up. the down side is that the car is less accurate, but has a bigger time limit. While doing stuff on the ground is more accurate as you have a more precise tool kit, but you have less time to do so. battles are still done through wild fights, but you can be challenged to fight as well. Oh yeah and HAVE THE ORIGINAL NUMBER OF MONSTERS.

Dude, I HATED the fact the 'free roam' vivosaurs. Especially because the battling was so tedious. If you're going to have unskippable cutscenes in your battle, make them optional without any threat of interrupting. I've lost so many fossils because I thought I was in the clear from a vivosaur's path only to find out JUST before I was able to finish digging that NOPE! Here comes a mother-trucker to heck up your day!

Do you think a monster hunter world version would be good I mean a large area to explore and good graphics (even though I prefer the old graphics) maybe vivasaur incounters could vary, such as a velociraptor like creature ambushing you whilst exploring and I liked the first games fossil collection system where you went around digging and then left to a cleaning facility. That would be a interesting game to me.

As a previous fan to the series, I thoroughly enjoyed Frontier. This review feels all over the place and I cant help feeling that the only thing that stopped you from really enjoying this game is the fact that it 'wasn't like the original(s)' Give it another try, pick it up three years later and see if your opinion is the same. Dont look at it as 'the third black sheep of the series' but enjoy it as it's own title. To me, the combat was fun--the AI team members seemed to know exactly what I was thinking and truly worked as a team. The driving felt tight, satisfying, and enjoyable. The fossil excavation was a gigantic step up from the small square fossil boxes you excavated before (and the bone buggy upgrades really gave me a sense of progression when it came to excavating larger fossils that I previously hadn't been able to clear in time). And while I agree the story was...lack luster and clearly intended for a younger audience, there was so much left in the game that the real story felt 'optional' Also, would it not make sense to stick to the safety of a car that's a LOT more squish proof than you are? It makes too much sense that after the bone buggy gets destroyed you cant fight. Giant dinosaurs. Fighting each other. And here you are, a five foot tall stress ball just looking to get stepped on. The buggies arent magical pokeballs either, its explained early that dinos are still stored in discs (just like the previous games, which you didnt seem to have a problem with before despite that literally being a 'pokeball') and are just launched out of the buggy to fight. 'same layouts with different skins' but I dont see what you mean. In previous games the 'main hub' always looked the same, and the outside digging area was where all the love was poured into. This game is no different? The hubs look all the same but the areas you can drive around in are HUUUGE and with so many secret paths, nooks, and short cuts that they're a joy to explore. Each area has a much different feel than the last and on first visits I easily spent hours digging all the new fossils I could fine and noting places that I couldn't yet reach so I could return when my bone buggy was more powerful. The Pailio Pal system, though I agree should have been optional, I dont mind. The characters are pretty flat, yes, but the AI underneath is pretty solid. The battle system as a whole is a big 'teamwork' system that's easy to pick up but still holds plenty for people who want to master it. The idea of stances ads a level of planning ahead that I didnt feel in previous games. You had to know the turn order and make sure to place opponents in situations that your party members could punish. The shots also ad a layer of pIaning--do I heal now, boost my attack now or defend? Using my items in this attack might make it so I cant finish off that vivasaur in the next round, or defending against this attack might end up killing my vivasaur when I needed more support. Shots are limited and you need to know when to use them. The battle system from the previous two installments was tight, and I liked it--but I also like this system for completely different reasons. At the end of the day you need to understand that Fossil Fighters was a niche market to begin with, meaning this game had a lot less funding and support than triple A titles and did a really good job all things considering. Like I said, give it another try without getting too worked up because it's 'not like the other games', see it for what it is and come back.

My friend and I "lovingly" refer to Fossil Fighters Frontier as *The Conglomeration of F's* for a reason. Couldn't even get more than a few hours in before I gave up. The first two were great, but I think the 3rd one really tried to push the typical popular kid game troupe the likes of Yokai-Watch, Pokemon, etc. with the annoying friend group and the penultimate, op partner Vivosaur 🙄 that and changes to the digging/cleaning and battling system really ruined it for me. Caused me so much frustration--I ended up losing so many fights because I was forced to rely on my friends because they kept taking the points before I could use them.

I know this is a year old, but I want to post my opinion anyway. This is merely my opinion and the reasons as to why I didn't enjoy the game. It had some good points, but overall I thought the game wasn't that good. Know that I am not a hater, just a veteran player of this series. One of the reasons are the designs of the vivosaurs. While I do appreciate the more realistic design of the vivosaurs, some of them I feel didn't need to be changed. Like Charchar, Gorgo, and a few others. The main reason is because I didn't enjoy the aspect of finding the fossils or the new way of going about digsites. I enjoyed using the sonar and finding random fossils. It was a lot of fun because I never knew what I would get and running around the digsite was fun, I could collect a little bit of gold due to the destroyable objects. The second game included something entirely different, such as super revival and giant fossils, and I loved that. I also didn't enjoy the story that much, there wasn't many cutscenes nor as many characters I could get to love. (The first game had very loveable characters while I enjoyed the cutscenes the second game had to offer,) While the aspect of fighting Wild vivosaurs was fun, I found it easily boring and the battle system wasn't fun at all. Going in an order of the speed of an individual vivosaur instead of all together wasn't exactly that fun for me as most of the vivosaurs I loved to use were slow as can be, making me get screwed over by the final boss. I also found it tedious that whenever you found certain fossils, that you had to make it to the fossil first before the vivosaur got to it. It always got ruined for me even when I had a fully upgraded buggy. Again, the game can be fun for a while and is a good game for beginners if they want something realistic like and fairly easy if played correctly. I may sound a bit bias and I acknowledge this, but this is because I have played the previous games before this one. I personally believe this series is underrated and if they decide to make a fourth game, that they bring back a few old aspects of previous games. (Like the second game did with the Dinaurians.) Again, this is MY opinion and you do not have to agree with me. It is okay to like Frontier and it is okay to not like Frontier. It isn't a game for me, but it is good that if it is a game for you. More power to you and more money going into making a possible fourth game.

I played the first and second games. I loved the first, and the second game was just an overall improvement compared to the first. These games were made for children, but I could still go back and play them now, at 21 years old, and love both of them. I do agree that the third game was meh over all. Personally I felt like the third game was a let down in comparison to the past games. Though I did enjoy it in spite of its let downs. It just wasn't as good as the previous two titles.

this game even as an adult i played several saves and always restart it for fresh battle first music are original enough and actually fit well for this universe bonebuggies are cool, without them this game wouldn't get bigger maps, controls are simple as you playing mario kart and i remember that i had more fun driving all around the map and taunt some Vivosaurs than actual digging and they even have customisation, all bonebuggies are uniques maps are very big and diversified i wished they added more map in the next game on switch perhaps storyline and character developement is actually good and intresting. and i know how bad time travels are a pain in the canon lore but it was a bet that worked. Characters are all types from the lone wolf to a kind helpful who has different types of shots that change depending in thier personnality and keypoint to tactics, some moment can be really sad and heartwarming. dificulty is well hard but it's essential and it force to make new approch and adapt to the current situation or digging more fossil to reinforced our dinosaure. Graphics is decent for the 3ds the only flaws i could found is that this game is unpopular and multiplayer is only on local, and that would had a lot of potential, i still think that the game was rushed to be sold quickly while others main exclusive games on 3ds are in developpement. I don't know how it was the 2 previous games but it's because of Frontier that i actually like dinosaure like i play a pokemon game
