Fotheringhay Castle filmed in 4K UHD vision - Highly advise the use
of headphones and totally immerse yourself.
Fotheringhay Castle was built next to the the River Nene in Northamptonshire. Now just a mound of earth. It is impossible to comprehend the history this once majestic building had witnessed.
This video barely covers a fraction of all the moments which occurred on this historic site.
The video was an awesome experience in making and how much history connected this building and its occupants that changed the course of history for ever.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian
Samsung Galaxy Note 8

I watched this a couple of times last week on my 4K TV - but I don't know how leave comments on there. This is such a professional video, I love the history you provided, what a shame that's all that's left of the place. You used Pachelbel, one of my favourite pieces of music, and being played on the pipes added the Scots connection, I found myself with a lump in my throat thinking of that poor woman dragged in there to have her life stolen away. The picture of the thistle at the end is just masterful, I wish I had that kind of artistic imagination.. The landowners could easily use this to advertise Fotheringhay and the surrounding area, just beautiful.

John Twist Thank you so much for your kind thoughtful comments. So glad you liked the video. I myself felt quite emotional as one gets tangled into the history of this poor lady and the outcome of her sentence. The music was indeed to reflect a Scotish momentum and yes I know King Richard III was born there, but that is another story.. thank you again and glad you found this interesting.😀👍👍👍

Hi Kim, i used to have a cruiser on the nene for many years, and moored up at fotheringhay many times.I have saved your video, because it brings back memories of the places i visited while on the nene. But alas i am now 76 years old, house bound but your video bought back fond memories.

Hi Tony, firstly, my apoliges for not replying earlier. Thank you so much for your kind and interesting comments of your days on the River Nene. I found this location through my brother and was quite suprised how close it was to my location. I found it so beautiful and relaxing and I can relate as to why you had some wonderful days there on your cruiser. I love discovering history not just in the local area but further afield. I am glad my video has brought you some pleasant memories of this delightful setting. I also did a video of Fotheringhay church which was a delight to film. I now do more ground footage as well as aerial video. I am a commercial UAV pilot and all my flights are conducted using the CAA regulations for commercial surveillance. Thank you for watching and sending my best wishes. Stay safe. 😉👍👍👍👍👍

HB Maverick Yes it is a shame, The castle became deserted many years later and villagers took the stone to build homes in the local village some of the stones became part of an Inn at a place called Oundle only a few miles away. This Inn is still used to this day. Glad you liked the video and thank you for your kind comments. 😀👍

Thank you so much Steve, I enjoyed making this video and doing the research on this historic place. It is hard to believe that this simple mound held so many historic events. So sad the building went in to disrepair. The stone from the castle was taken and used to build the local Inn and pub in Oundle just down the road many hundreds of years ago.

JP in Fuerteventura Thank you so much for your nice comments . Yes I found your cottage that you lived in. Beautiful village. Because the castle has gone with only a grass mound not that many people know about this very important place. I felt that if I could just bring this place into the public eye and people would see how important Fotheringhay castle played in the history of our monarchy. 😀👍👍👍

Many of the houses in the village are supposed to have used bits of the castle in their construction. It is claimed that the Talbot Hotel in Oundle has a staircase from the castle, with the inevitable claim that the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots has been seen on it. It was a lovely village to live in. There were just 80 people and it was the only place in my life where I actually felt part of the community.

It's very rare I watch a drone video from start to finish. ( not even my own ) I lose interest half way through. Yours was the exception! I liked the historical information, story telling at the start of the video. Your aerial footage was excellent and very well edited. At the end you mixed in some still shots from ground level. All together it made for a very enjoyable watch. I've subscribed because I want to hopefully learn from your skills to make my own flying and video production better.

Outer Spaces Thank you so much for your kind comments. It means so much to me that people are enjoying my video's. The editor I used was Power Director 16. I meant to put this in my description but forgot. Will amend this shortly.😎👍

I just got lost in time watching this to think that somewhere in all that grassy mound and suroundings Mary knelt down to be beheaded it really makes you think what is life about

Thank you so much for your kind and interesting comments. It does indeed make one think deeply what must have gone through her mind on that awful day. In those days they did have a deep belief of God and heaven and probably just felt a very small comfort that they would go to heaven once the axe fell. Take care and stay safe and thanks again for visiting my channel.😉👍👍👍👍👍👍

Nicely done… But geez, not much left of the place. But obviously the centuries have taken their toll.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I enjoyed filming this location and the research on this historic locations past. Hard to believe I was actually standing very near Mary's place of execution. The Castle later in years went into dis-repair and the stone was taken and used to build the Oundle Pub and Lodge not far from Fotheringhay. I guess even back then they had recycling lol.
