Fotheringhay Church - The Jewel of Northamptonshire - Best aerial content of this structure.

Highly recommend where possible to view on a 4K TV and even better listen with headphones 🎧 to totally immerse yourself.
My longest video to date, at just 6 minutes long, my P4P struggled in the wind to capture some of the best aerial footage ever recorded of this amazing structure so far.
One of the finest and most historically important churches in Northamptonshire, St Mary the Virgin and All Saints has seen more than its fair share of historical drama over the centuries. The church, with its distinctive octagonal lantern tower, stands between the River Nene and the Willow Brook, and looks out across idyllic countryside. It was not so idyllic in 1587, when Mary, Queen of Scots, was executed at nearby Fotheringhay Castle. The castle is now little more than a high earthen mound, possibly a result of slighting by order of Mary's son James when he took the throne as James I of England. However, if Mary were here today she would probably recognise the parish church, which has changed little externally since her death.

Due to the shape of the Lantern tower the wind whipped around and the turbulence came in a pincer movement trying to push the drone from one side to the other, but I have to hand it to DJI the Phantom 4 Pro doesn't give in easily. Awesome video Kim, the strong background music added to the majesty of the church. I much preferred the color/light balance with the ND8 filter, as you put it, it added to the Gothic scenery. Here in Australia we don't have structures of such age & historical significance, therefore I have to rely on my county's natural attractions, fortunately it has many.

Beautiful. At about 1:28 the image is quite dark and the singer is singing 'Shine your light on me' just as the church comes into the sunlight - magical! These old places really are magnificent, it's a huge shame that history records the architect or some lord or other who paid for it, instead of the amazing, skilled people who got their hands dirty creating it. Thank you John for your great and observant comments. I chose the song as the words went beautifully with the orbit and the sun shining down. Yes that sunlight shining on the church did come just right for the song. I have deliberately not shown any photo's of inside the church as this is a mark of respect to the church trust and you need to visit this wonderful structure and look inside. You will be blown away with its history and contents. As you saw in the video, on one of the bells inside the lantern tower has the inscription by the actual maker. Which is probably the only name found. On the outside of the church walls, there small graffiti carvings which were done 100's of years ago. It gets the imagination going of who once stood there and cut those letters into the stone. Anyway John I am rambling lol.
