If anything your government is closer to National Socialism than communism. Now back to my original point. You have a country which has always been happy. Your people are very homogeneous and your country is small in size, so it is easy to see someone on the other side of the country as your neighbor because of this. America does not have a single ethnic group and our country is huge. Folks in Northern Maine cannot easily identify with folks in Southern California and vice versa. So when you say to either, we are going to tax you heavily so we can give to your neighbors 5000 km away, it is like, yeah I don't like that idea. Socialism works at the family level, large social programs work at the community level, but a country as large as the US would end up just like all the other large countries that try large social safety nets. Your people are happy so you can afford large safety nets. The second things become difficult and people get angry, sharing what is scare will sound like a terrible idea. Enjoy it though, I have a feeling everyone's happiness and willingness to share is about to collapse over the next decade.

Mike, I soon will be 81 years old, and I have seen a lot in my short lifetime, but the present time takes the cake. My wife and I have been married for 60 years, both college grads, with "NO" student loans, (we worked part time and lived on a lean budget. It took us a year longer to finish college, debt free! We drove a VW beetle for 15 years(over 300,000 miles), until we felt we could afford a nicer car. I do not like debt, and I have no regrets. Too many of this current generation try to keep up with the "Jones", with new home, new cars, etc. I think this is the way our government officials think, spend, spend and pay for it later, if then. Not sure someone 81 years old can comment on the cost of college, I'm 66 and I paid $53 a credit hour back in the 70s and paid cash. our experience does not compare to todays cost of college when the government no longer subsidizes the colleges like they did 50 years ago.

We are in a rural area in Arkansas. Build what you want, no regulations. Common sense is king and serves us well. No worries. Having a mill and way to dry lumber, you could cut and dry 90 percent of the lumber to build with. No government looking over your shoulder.

Hi Mike. Just a suggestion for burning, not that you need one from someone who built thousands of less fires than you have. Learned this when I was a young kid. Spray wood before you light it so diesel can soak in a bit. Works better.

Good Morning Mike, We live in south Alabama and it's the same way here. We can't even cut a tree on our property in the little city we live in without a stupid permit. I fight with them all the time. I feel like this is my dirt, my trees and if I want to cut one down that's my business. We are state licensed home builders that we have to have to build houses in our area but we can litterally go to the county above us or beside us and there's not one inspection that has to be done to build anything or live on your property the way you see fit. We're in the Black Hills. It's considered Semi Arid. to give you an idea, I got a new digital rain gauge in Early July. Our total rainfall since then is 1.41 inches. Consequently burning can only be done in the winter with a snow cover. I used to use a mixture of Diesel and gas to light my slash piles. Now I use my weed burner. It' far more effective.

She's got a master's in nursing and he's got a master's in geology but they're so broke! I had to put meat in their freezer because they can't afford meat now! Think about this...the government was handing them checks a couple of years ago and now they can't afford meat. Morning guys! David, despite 36.5 years in USDA-Ag Research Service, I never heard of Newton’s Fourth Law of Motion. That’s a great one! From down in the weeds where I was (a mixed metaphor, that), you could see every process ‘improvement’ forced the cost of doing that process higher. It is almost a tautology. Those forces are the same as why Mike is looking at 6 months and $15k to give his kid a couple of acres for a house. Taking a different metaphor and paraphrasing: the road to Venezuela is paved with good intentions. A side note. There's certainly an advantage to staying in the area you grew up. It's nice to have the network of connections, and the knowledge of the area. 73 Years in Pittsburgh and housing around here and prices amaze me. East Liberty slums turn into Hippy Haven and high prices. South side mill worker houses built on the hill side with dirt basements selling to Oakland collage folk for hundreds of thousands. Lawrenceville row houses for more than 200 thousand. Cranberry farmland and McMansions made of ticky-tacky for over a million. This is Pittsburgh, once an affordable city. The mill workers are gone and we have HiTech and medical jobs. Thank goodness for the hospitals (saved me from death once or twice) and Eva and Hanna from brain problems. Go on and rant, there is always time and space for discource. Thanks. @@peteatthefarm4459 / yes , quite a bit - flooding of basements and road closures , and to top it off a huge water main in the city next to the Jacques Cartier bridge broke yesterday causing a massive geyser and more flooding 🙄 they think the geyser went about 3 stories high ! CBC Montreal had a short video of it on the website - you might be able to still find it ? - pretty spectacular !

I think about this a lot and yesterday I bought diesel for $3.57 a gallon. To keep pace with inflation it should be over $7, so what's up with that?

We have sold our home property we have about a year to get ready to move out. I’ve been looking for houses. The price are unreasonable. My first house new was 21,000. We will have to spend 400,000 plus.

Mike I don’t know where he got a job at but we moved north of Mercer about 2 years ago and I drive to Pittsburgh everyday in 8 mins off 79 and make it to the veterans bridge in Pittsburgh in 55mins. We don’t regret it a bit. The house prices really drop north of 80. Yes it’s an hour drive to the burgh daily but worth it for what we were able to get and the people and Amish up here are just awesome! Way better life than we had down on Pittsburgh.

Our elected officials making laws and rules for the us, the average American which in reality they are "exempt" and never held responsible. This nation is a runaway train with no brakes and the rails are out a few miles ahead. Great seeing Hunter and his shirt would be a great start for our country. Mike, I have to admit that when you had dug all around the oak stump and it wasn't budging, that it might be time to build a fire on top of the stump and call it a day! A bonfire might just do in the stump and be another option for getting rid of the roots and stump down to dirt level.

Mike I grew up on my grandparents farm im 70 now but we had tractors and the 3 point hitch was our best friend my grandfather taught me a trick about the hitch that ive seen you do time after time I was sent to hook up the plow on our international i was kicking that hitch trying to get to get it on the plow and my grandpa came up and just watched me then said do it the easy way get that hand sledge hammer and pound it on when i grew up a little i switched to rubber mallet works great hope this helps keep up the good work!!

The last election made conservatives afraid to speak up as it's frightening to think you could lose a job or livelihood these days based on your political leaning. Keep up the good work!
