That was so amazing. I definitely want to try his food. My life goal is to eat in a Michelin-starred restaurant. I read about a guy who won 500 or some dollars at a Vegas casino. He decided he wanted to spend the whole thing on one meal at an adjacent restaurant owned by Chef Gordon Ramsay (I believe it was Michelin-starred from what he said). People asked him if he regretted spending it all one occasion and he said no, it was the greatest meal I ever had in my life. And he said the joy and nutrition of that one meal still strengthened him with happiness and strength a couple of years after the amazing tastes of that one meal. Every positive in our lives can be transferred spiritually to other successes in our lives. If I'm ever able to try this chef's food, I'll remember it forever. Thank you Shizuka and crew!

What an amazing story! It is worth trying for sure!

Michelin only rated Las Vegas in 2008 and 2009 and none of the Gordon Ramsay restaurants had one, though he has starred restaurants elsewhere - I've eaten at his 3* restaurant in London and that was certainly memorable, so I'm sure his LV restaurant would have been too. Depending on where you are, your life goal is definitely achievable - going for a set lunch is a nice, attainable way to ease yourself in. Those can be had for as little as £30 in the UK (less than $40) and is helpful to decide if that style is for you before committing to full on tasting menus like the one in the video. Coverage outside of a few key NE cities (think NYC, Chicago, DC) and California is sparse, but Florida was added a couple of years ago and Colorado and Atlanta were added this year. Europe has lots if you're there, plus key Asian cities. I have a "short"list of 7 I want to try in Tokyo but there are a total of 183 in Greater Tokyo!
@rocketreindeer11 ай бұрын
@@mosmarb The last I heard, I believe Tokyo had the highest percentage of restaurants with Michelin stars in the world. New York was also high on the list, but it was #3 or #5. I guess I should google it instead of doing random guesses. I live in British Columbia and we had zero Michelin stars until 2022 in Vancouver. So I would love to check them out.
@mosmarb11 ай бұрын
@@rocketreindeer yep, Vancouver in BC and also Toronto - you couldn't get much further apart! I went to Montréal a few years ago, before Michelin arrived in Canada, and was trying to guess which of the restaurants I ate at would be worthy of a star. Michelin do a free app, makes searching for restaurants a lot easier. Lots of Asian influence in those Vancouver stars, unsurprisingly, but I particularly like the look of Published on Main too, which lets you buy by the dish. Definitely think you should go for one of them, I find it a really enjoyable hobby; over 50 starred places under my belt now, though I'm lucky to have a lot of choice fairly close.

I really enjoy gingko nuts, it was one of my favourite kushiage in my favourite restaurant in Berlin. Béarnaise is basically a Hollandaise with tarragon. On my first visit to Tokyo Michelin wasn't present yet, but I ate at a restaurant that later gained a star. Didn't make any on my second trip but I have a shortlist of 7 places now (limited by being a vegetarian) that I'd like to try. Hommage looked really good, great food coming out of such a small kitchen there!
