Some doors have been closed for decades. Not only did the clock stop ticking, but also time collectively has frozen inside.
Today we take you into the lives of the members of the "Vieren" family and their house they abandoned in 2009. It's the textbook example of many abandoned properties in France next to a busy road, where the French state is doing nothing about. The original residents once passed away, and as inheritance taxes are high, nobody ever claimed the property.
Enjoy another tour, as we open a new gate back in time, and are astonished by the things we discover.

@@deborahklaisle6175 I think so - imagine none of them wanting any of their parents or grandparents stuff - just something to tie them to their heritage. Just seems sad that all goes to rack & ruin, with no chance to be reused or even recycled... And being in their place - better to leave it all to the Good Will or Salvos... :(

It's nice to see this type of home, one that people in the middle class would live in. It's sad there was so much mold in all the rooms. But, it was truly natural decay. Thanks, guys.. And Remon, it was good to see you again.

This is a very interesting place just a shame it is decaying. The things left by the front door are sewing patterns and the machine was in the cabinet, you didn't raise it up. Appreciate your being so respectful to all the places you go. Hope you washed your hands with all that mold. Love to you both and thank you for this video.

Showered, washed all your clothes. That is truly a disservice to the French people that inheritance tax is so high they can't pay. That couple worked all their lives paying taxes. Shouldn't have inheritance tax unless it's a HUGE estate. Those children in the least should have been able to collect their parents personal possessions. All that just going to rot. Doesn't make sense at all. That car was cool. Looked kind of like an elongated VW. (Bug, except that German made). Forgive.

@@billrobbins5874 2CVs had roll-back fabric roofs so they were all kinda convertibles; they also tended to deteriorate & tear. The rectangular headlights prob date that one to '76 - '85, don't think many models had them. Could've been stripped intended for restoration or used for parts. Briefly had a '82 2CV in the early 90s (production ended '90 iirc). They never felt the safest of vehicles to be rocking round in and were distinctly underpowered (compared to other vehicles) - I remember crawling up hills in 2nd gear being overtaken by pedal cyclists... There's a hilarious car chase in the Bond film 'For Your Eyes Only' starring a bright yellow 2CV, hurtling through rural Spain - supposedly (it was filmed on Corfu). Worth watching just for laughs, tho obvs they used several beefed-up & variously adapted cars for filming.

What a fantastic way to start my day! A charming house with a crafty person who apparently liked sewing as was evident by the pile of magazines that were actually sewing patterns. There were some, imo, very odd homemade lamp shades. I'm just curious as to where they would sit back and relax in their spare time because no living room was to be seen; it appeared just to have 2 dining areas. Also...what a strange collection of items in the bedroom. All in all, it was a cozy home being taken over beautifully by Mother Nature.

The people who lived here went to live with their grown children or in a nursing home. The house has sentimental value and was just left like that because some people have a hard time dealing with houses after parents die. The ones that aren't hungry for money that is. You have property searches now days with addresses but I guess it leaves it to the imagination of the viewers.

Hi Guy's that was a great find and a real time capsule, well done. I follow you and other explorers who like you, photograph everything of interest and that's good as I expect that house will probably be demolished and a new one built resulting in every trace of that ladies home being lost for ever. What are your long term plans for all your videos ? Do you plan to create a searchable database of the type of buildings you find and explore as I would imagine your collection of videos will keep increasing in size and eventually get to the point where it will get difficult to find certain recordings. Finally I say a huge thank to you and the other TRUE explorers, who give no clues as to where the places they find are as we all have seen so many places totally trashed with everything smashed and walls covered in graffiti resulting in what were once beautiful homes and buildings that were once very interesting being totally destroyed, especially once the copper thieves get in and begin tearing floors up to get at the copper pipes and copper wiring inside the electricity cables.

Amazing place, and it's tragic how high inheritance taxes lead to these kinds of residences just being abandoned and unclaimed when the owners pass away or can't take care of them anymore. :(

I like the normal houses and the mansions/castles. Primarily love the historical aspects of the homes, seeing antiques and vintage interior design. Love the fabrics and wall coverings. The French used beautiful wallpaper! Thank you for bringing these wonders before our eyes!! Amazing!!

The lovely sewing machine table has a top that lifts open and the machine would fold down inside of the table. Love the simple life of this family. Such a shame that so many beautiful pieces are just going to decay away. The bed linens are lovely. I use vintage hemp and linen as well as vintage books in my hobby. These items are very desirable by myself and others.

@@muffassa6739 yes it seems that a lot of paranormal investigations that take place the houses etc all seem to be very dark especially their décor & furniture which add to a lot of the darkness

It’s such a shame government / tax policy makes it impossible / prohibitively costly for families to inherit these old properties .

Hi my dear friend Maureno, What an incredibly well preserved time capsule! - That is again a real Urbex gem, you found in France. Of course it is always sad to see the apparent traces of decay and the mold in many parts of the rooms, but that reminds us also how transitory our lives as human beings and our once beloved belongings are. That makes me right now quite sad! - So lovely to see also once more Remon in the video! - The furniture in the living rooms actually is very beautiful and is showing a certain elegance. Once more a truly excellent video from my favourite team Explomo! - Stay safe, peace and much love from Switzerland. Lots of blessings, dear bro, and kindest regards to you and Remon.

Inheritance Tax - by keep the taxes high the heirs cannot afford the property, then given enough time the property belongs to the French government. The time frame can be so long the property falls into disrepair only to be demolished when it becomes hazardous.

It breaks my heart that France charges such a high inheritance tax😞 I always wondered why beautiful properties are abandoned 😞If their descendants can’t afford the inheritance tax, then there is sooo very much that goes to waste!!! If France would lower their inheritance tax, they wouldn’t have sooo very many abandoned properties & they could move them much faster!!! The wooden furniture would have been lovely to pass on to family members! The country of France should allow the descendants to take pictures & artifacts that can’t be replaced & that mean something to the family & then charge for the house & big property. That way sooo many valuable items & keepsakes wouldn’t go to waste! Thank you Remon & Maureno for wearing masks! Please get gloves sooo that you don’t accidentally get mold on your faces!!!😩 The basement was a dungeon, but thank you brave Maureno for going into the basement to film😫 Thank you both for a wonderful video of this lovely, pristine old property & for educating us on the cultural beliefs of the country! I love you both💕

Adding to your vocabulary: A "bed pan" is for sick people, who can't get out of bed. The caregiver slides the bed pan underneath the sick person. What you found is a "chamber pot". A slang term for chamber pot is "thunder mug". Also, the sewing machine probably wasn't missing, just lowered into the cabinet. Awesome job, guys!
