I'd like to make a shout-out to you guys and all who do the units: If you get luggage that you don't want please think about donating it to a local foster care in your area. Over 90% of the kids use garbage bags for their belongings, as they don't have anything better to put their belongings in. Just food for thought! Thanks for letting me share that.

Oh my goodness, this was a great video. That big trunk looks beautiful. When you opened it up and just wadded up those soldier pants that were pressed and put away with care in that drawer. I just cringed. I love the diaries and wish I could just read them. What a find. this was fun to watch. ..............lean on God..................

That made me so sad. My father in law just passed and he was a purple heart recipient from wwii. His medals were lost years ago, and I know his sons would love to have been able to find them. I bet this man has a family that would love to get those diaries and stuff back also.

I feel the same way about the diaries and memorabilia. Ill try to.find the family this belongs to!

A lot of times the family could care less, a friend returned a purple heart to family. They turned around and sold it again. I wish more families would value items like this and try to keep them. You all sound like me with my families items.

WW II ended in 09/1945. The ribbons in the plastic case are from the Korea era, the red on the Service cap is for artillery and also the uniform brass which was 18kt plated gold at one time. The"Diary" needs to be sent to Ft.Sill, OK museum, home of the artillery.

Red and gold patches are 25th Division (Army). Red piping on cap means Field Artillery. Blue and white ribbons are from Korean War. Round collar discs with crossed cannons are field artillery branch of service insignia.

The uniform in the drawer along with the patches and collar brass are from the Korean war era up to Vietnam. Those year books look interesting. They can be very valuable depending on what's in them.

The cap is Boy Scouts hat, the red patch is 25th Infantry Division, “Tropic Lightning” out of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The diaries should be either given to or loaned to the World War 2 national museum, they are always trying to find 1st hand accounts, especially if you have the soldiers pictures

This video, although I absolutely loved seeing the items be discovered, made me sad. I have a soft spot for Veterans (My Dad served in USMC during Vietnam). My heart breaks for the family who will never have the opportunity to read the memoirs of their family member. Those items are so personal and carry so much meaning.....it’s hard to think of the family that will never know that part of their history.

Hertzberg's was a jeweler in San Antonio. Here is an ad that refers to "Hertzberg's Treasure Trove" in the June 19, 1955 issue of the San Antonio Express & News: www.newspapers.com/image/6803245 Perhaps this was a trade or advertising token brought home by someone who visited San Antonio or was in Air Force basic training there.
