I’ve worked in a prison. Women fall for it. All. The. Time. There’s inmates with 3-5 different women writing to them, thinking they’re exclusively dating. The women send them money and try to work on their legal cases. It’s CRAZY what these diagnosed psychopaths get away with manipulating women… Oh and inmates aren’t given internet or cellphones, but they’re smuggled in by dirty staff and visitors all the time.

So she prob was very overweight, had to lose 50 to even be a candidate for IVF. She seems to accept this is the best she can do, she never mentioned a successful long term relationship, just being a martyr and dutiful daughter basically. She may not have great prospects in the real world so this could feel “safer”. Especially if she’s trauma bonded or codependent to this guy thru everything she’s dealing with. He’s a project, she’s in position of savior and martyr again, and he needs her - also she may think he can’t really cheat or leave her while in prison. Also these guys can be master manipulators, love bombers, future fakers so there’s that. Could be love or it could be him using her for commissary, companionship and financing this expensive appeal 😒 It’s SUPER sad but I love how John addressed it, knowing that sometimes we have to just let folks make their mistakes

Why do women make such a big deal about wanting to have children, not everyone should or can't, but can't accept that dreams are unrealistic. Instead of taking responsibility for bad decisions, they justify them. Be happy for yourself and live your life and quit having an unrealistic life that everyone has. When she says she wanted to have a wedding so her mom can see her in a wedding dress. Her whole existence was based on an overpriced dress that would be worn one time.

This is so incredibly true. I had a boyfriend who was an addict,(though at the time i was also.i just didnt lie to others or do anything to anyone else in order to get my fix) Anyways i worked across the street at a dairy farm, milking cows. While working one night, he came running over, no shoes on, out of breath, saying someone had broken in and had a board for a weapon. I was so freaked out, I ultimately end f up knocking on the boss's door , talking to his wife, using her phone to call 911. I was not there. I was at work. when they pulled in they asked if they could take a look around the perimiter. I said yes. So didn't they end up going inside, seeing paraphernalia and charging me with that. I never gave permission to go inside but I see now life doesn't work like that. I was very frightened after that. I lived alone, you know? Anyways all this to say, i ended up having serious doubts and questions as to whether it even happened. I have come to terms with the fact that it was all more than likely an elaborate lie, that he created and I don't know entirely what his pay off was, I know he asked his dad for help with money to get locks. I'm sure he got far more money than I knew. It was extremely upsetting to think the person I loved would not online deceive me, but take away my sense of safety and security in my own home. So... I feel that quote.

First I can empathize as a childless, never married 38 year old woman. I know what it feels like to do "everything right", stay slim, volunteer, be involved in church etc....and still not meet anyone who is compatible at church, at work, on dating apps etc... HOWEVER, I realized around 32/33 that my life is NOW. And I'd rather be single, ambitious, joyfully serve God and others, and live a fun life than lower my standards to hades just to have someone. Being a wife and mother is not where my value lies. Being a child of God and walking with integrity is all I ever need. Singleness can be lonely at times, but I am beyond thankful that God has given me grace when I had desperate moments to not choose a toxic or deadend relationship. He's given me a great family and friends, whom I have more time to pour into because I'm single. I hope this lady shakes herself and wakes up, because life is not a game where if we accumulate enough points we are rewarded with whatever we want. Life itself is the reward.

Megan, please sweetheart RUN from this guy. You are worth so much more than waiting for a guy to get out of prison who is just using you. You could find an amazing man, and start a family if you just grieve and leave this convicted felon. He’s not worth your time and he’s certainly never going to be allowed near a kid that you so badly want. You have no clue (nor do I) if he was wrongly convicted. He can tell you his cute little sob story but the reality is cops don’t just put guys in prison without evidence especially with something that serious, it’s also a red flag that this lawyer you hired who specializes is wrongful conviction cases couldn’t help you. Your life is just worth so much more than waiting around for this guy to get out of prison when chances are it will be a long time and won’t be the fantasy you dream of if he does. Dr. John, me and many others are rooting for you. You have so much more potential than you think! ❤️

I feel for her. I was the same way, expected to meet Mr Right in my 20s and have a kid or two. By 30 I’d had some failed relationships and was so tired of dating and the whole thing. I didn’t want to be single forever and that sadness is SO hard. And it can make you do stupid things. Like trying to tell yourself that a convicted child abuser is really a nice guy and would be a great father. 😮 So as lonely as it was, I just kept living my life. Then at 33, I very randomly met Mr. Right. Got engaged 4 months after we met, and got married 10 months later. Both our families were shocked as to how similar we are. I’m 51 now, marriage got rough sometimes but we still love each other. I wasn’t able to have kids and that about crushed me. I even told my husband he should leave me and get with someone who could have his kid. He knew I was insane at the time and assured me that was never gonna happen. So yeah, life didn’t turn out like I thought, but it’s still pretty dang good. Hang in there.

I understand why he didn’t address it. She’s already been through a lot in his put all her eggs in this basket for this relationship to work out. She chose this relationship out of desperation, and she’s not open to changing her mind because accepting that reality will be devastating for her. He was wise to not judge her choices openly (though he did comment on it), but encourage her that she has to accept what comes with her choices, which is true, whether she was making an amazing decision, or a poor decision, such as this one. Now she won’t see this advice as an argument, and as she follows it, she will naturally have to ask herself honestly, if she is OK with this, and she will convince herself instead of John trying to argue with her.

Anyways the guy was released and they break up. He went on to be one of those “repent for your sins the end is near” wackos holding a sign. Then contacted her years later to repent for his sins and tell her that he actually was guilty of child molestation. My observation lately is that while we do not properly prepare our young people for married life, we also do not prepare them for the possibility of the single life. While I'd love for all my children to grow up and have families, I've also started trying to teach them how to be single. Recently we read about George Washington Carver and were just blown away by his single life and all that he accomplished and the godly man that he was. Can't recommend his biography enough. I'd much rather see my children single adults than in terrible relationships.

She looked very surprised that I mentioned her online bf was most likely fake

You're 38. It's not too late, actually it's never too late. This guy does not sound like the one to waste time on. Move on.

Dr. John handled this call well. She's got some very serious self esteem issues that have led her down a path of fighting for a man in prison (whether he is guilty or not is not the point) for 6 years to turn up empty handed. She can still fight for him and if he is truly innocent, I hope she keeps fighting for him. But she doesn't have to put her life on hold for that either. That was a choice she made thinking she'll end up with a fairytale and that didn't work out. Look, life is all about choices. If I could go back 6 years and start trying to have a baby I would, but those were choices I (and my husband) made when we did. She needs to work on giving Megan room to heal, grieve, grow, and love herself first. She owes that to herself.

The part that really gets me about this caller is that she tells gerself that she has "done everything right" she will never stop feeling like the world hasnt served her adequately until she accepts that she has made her choices, maybe because thats what she BELIEVED was the right thing to do, but its likely a justification as to why we do things rather than the reason itself.

Grieving choices traps us in the past. But taking ownership sets us free. I CHOSE to marry my spouse. I CHOSE to stay with him. I CHOSE to stand up for what I believe is right. I CHOSE my consequences, my life. And I can choose the direction I decide to head in now. Choosing and accepting the losses and gains is calming, and makes life ok.

"Own your choices." So simple yet so important! This lady clearly is in a lot of denial and John very patiently showed her the next baby step that she'll be mentally able to take.

I don't think I'll ever call John because he gives too much homework. Writing letters to your childhood self, your current self, your future self, your deceased parents, your abuser, your unborn children. Carrying around cinder blocks in a backpack... it's exhausting!

As a person who was sa as a kid - do you know how brave that kid was to come forward to report the abuse - and then for the police to find enough evidence to convict the perpetrator? This woman is disgusting to try and find excuses for something he probably did do.

So the most important thing to her is having kids... She's 38... Even if we all pretend this guy is actually innocent, she will never be able to adopt with a convicted child molester in her life. Best chances are to go find an actually good guy, get married, and have a baby in the next few years or adopt! I promise there's better guys out there than Mr. Perfect you found online who was actually in prison the whole time he was talking to you, and is convicted of child molestation, but convinced you he is innocent. Like I said, even IF he is innocent, you deserve a better life than that.

For the money she spent on lawyers she could have hired a surrogate

Why would you take that chance, an innocent child.
@kendrascorner
@kendrascorner 5 ай бұрын
@@ineedhoez It doesn't sound like a surrogate would be necessary. She did get pregnant once through artificial insemination, and she could do it again. Although there are huge ethical issues with that. If she really wants to care for a child as a single woman, adoption would be a good option. But not if she's with a child molester.
@kendrascorner
@kendrascorner 5 ай бұрын
@@jemmajames6719 I didn't say she should take that chance. I'm saying he is probably guilty. Even if he technically didn't do anything, if the courts found him guilty, they will not let him adopt (which is a GOOD decision on the part of the court).
@ineedhoez
@ineedhoez 5 ай бұрын
@@kendrascorner there aren't any ethical issues with it. As long as you build securely attached children you're fine. Build a community and Network and caretakers for your children so your child is securely attached in your job is done. Cuz let's be real, there are tons of two-parent homes where children still grow up with all type of attachment trauma.

She’s loopy. But it’s not her fault completely. The issue is.. life isn’t fair darling. She’s Been sold an age old fairy tale in a modern world that doesn’t always correlate with that Disney / 50s family worldview. But it’s an all to familiar tale these days.. particularly when it comes to artificial insemination.
