You were burning the clutch the whole time , it never fully engaged, you got some problems in there and need a 60 tooth sprocket.

I have had fenders on my bike and my wife's bike for about five years now!!! The trick is using zip ties!! No shit!! Use thick ones and put two on each side of the fender right were it meets your forks!! Drill a couple of holes on each side of your fenders to feed your zip ties through!! You should have 4 holes all together on your front fender, one on each side of your forks. Same with the back fender!! Zip ties take the vibration a whole lot better!!! I have been in accidents on it twice they still never broke.I've tried everything to stop that cheap metal from breaking, nothing worked except zip ties, be sure to keep an eye out when you first do it to make sure you did it right!! My wife as had a 4 stroke for five years, I haven't had to do anything to it!! Nothing? It still does 39 miles an hour!! She rides it all the time!! I've only had to change the oil once.I bought it from bike berry. I was new to the game and thought I was doing something by buying it from bike berry for $800!!! Yeah I got ripped off!!! But the Mrs. love's it!! Good luck with it!!!👍💪🙏

I have the same engine still same original clutch try straight exhaust with 4g belt drive and switch to a different carb plus i have used a 50 tooth rear sprocket and was doing 43kmh tried 36 tooth and it would drag slow to start but it would do 53kmh when you got going also try adjusting the rakers to 4mm exhaust and 6mm intake port and see if that helps but there a fun build used to run 69cc 2 stroke with a few mods and it was a headache
@decaulelliott98678 ай бұрын
The problem is Bud there's a little like bushing that is behind your transmission and that thing needs to be greased up because it's not letting the clutch engage fully
@MFROYAL-pc1vr8 ай бұрын
The 4G belt drive puts those transmissions to shame, far superior and there is none of that messing, it just keeps going and going.

At 0:49 you see how freaking heavy those springs are/ its a wonder that clutch even opens up to work at all. All your doing is eating up disc pads with those heavy duty clutches. Heavy duty is ok but that clutch has to match the RPMs of the motor and that damn idle needs turned down to the proper RPM first. Its a nice bike just try a different setup on the clutch system.

Idle it down and stretch the springs on the new clutch. I have one just like it, had same problems.

Great video, nice work, please consider a 2 stroke build with a regular clutch system for your next build. You will not be disappointed. 4 stroke builds are great for flat landers but for any hills .....nope. Safe travels

Thank you. I sold my last two stroke and the clutch only had minimal wear after two years. Once I had it tuned I never had an issue with it. I’m sure at some point I’ll build another two stroke.

Yes, that is what I would recomend (53cc with belt drive and KTM50 clutch). Have over 2,000 miles on mine and it still runs (other than having to find a way to weld the muffler on).

Don’t worry, the camera is mounted to my chest but with my head I look behind me. I usually ride in the correct lane when there’s no cars, but if there is I normally switch to the oncoming lane so that I can see them and stay in the shoulder.

Use the 3 claw clutches that comes with the 53cc 4stroke model kits (major difference in power and longevity). Also lube the area where the clutch and shaft meet, being careful not to put too much grease (and repeat every 40-60miles). The chain drive torque converters are trash compared to the 7g T belt torque converters (which fit directly onto the motor you have). Thank me later (or not).

I live in the mountains of Tennessee and weigh 250 lbs. Small engines, large people and steep hills means you need multiple engine driven gears. That's why I have a shifter bike. Oh, by the way I use a 4 stroke 33cc engine both the engine and the clutch is 14 years old. I'm also known as Sidewinder Jerry on the motorized bicycle forums.

Very interesting. I didn’t want to put a lot of money into the bike because I had an 80cc 2 stroke kit that did fine around here and cost even less. I ended up selling both bikes and will probably build another 2 stroke one in the future.

That is an interesting build i love it! The clutches on those things are pretty bad… also for strokes are not great at off Roading they don’t have a lot of power they have a lot of low in torque tho! I would suggest getting a two-stroke…. They are better for off Roading! I wish you the best of luck
@CR03_Outdoor_Adventures Жыл бұрын
I used to have an 80cc 2 stroke and I would agree. I may end up building another one at some point. I’m thinking the BT100 if I do.

I've had one of the 49cc engines on my bike since 2017 and I used to have them same problems with it but the first thing I figured out is that them clutches are junk without modifying them so they grab quicker better with the plain 3 tab clutch and the second is the them exhausts are very restricting these aren't like the 2 strokes where you need the pressure so I removed the endcap from the exhaust and that helped alot with acceleration and rpm increase and the last thing it the gearing I stayed with all the stock 11 tooth sprocket on the on the trans and 44 tooth sprocket on the rear tire and I can hit 36 mph and I'm not light weight I'm 6' And 280 pounds
Depends what you have for ccs in that motor get a torque converter 30 series you'll be able to go up a hill no problemo
@DeweyMayojr Жыл бұрын

Stretch the crap out of those clutch springs or get some much lighter ones, definitely lower the idol, and maybe a 50 or more tooth for the rear sprocket and I think that will about solve the issues other than lack of power.. but the clutch springs and idol should be #1 priority and would make a world of difference
@bassw17589 ай бұрын
You should pick up a belt transmission, they make a big difference, and they are geared a lot lower. A 36t is about the same as a 48t.
@samsungdevice81638 ай бұрын
Use a KTM50 clutch or buy a 53cc 4 stroke engine kit with belt drive (they come with that clutch). I ride about 10 miles (each way) to work with no chain on the pedals and I climb large hills with no problem (other than going no more than 15 to 18 mph up them; otherwise does 25 to 28mph steady). Use high octane fuel and full synthetic motor oil, And try to delete the chain tensioner (they always give problems eventually). Oh, and I run it on a single speed road bike with 26"x2" tires and mags with a 44 tooth CDH sprocket that screw directly into the CDH mags (world of a difference).

I'm pretty sure that there is a 3 disc centrifugal clutch that grabs harder and won't slip as much. 4 Stroke Bicycle Clutch Kit, 50cc dirt bike ... - Amazon dot cam, It has 3 clutch friction discs I was thiinking about a 4-stroke build but I might go friction drive with a square tube bolted to the seat post and motor bolted too the square tube with like a 5 horse power Harbour Freight engine because I live in a hilly area too. a bit top heavy but direct drive / no clutch and you can use engine brake, to save on brakes
@samjam950410 ай бұрын
When you have a decently big sprocket on a centrifugal clutch it has a lot of stress on it so it burns up quicker
@theLyzhendricks Жыл бұрын
I love both my 2 strokes they rip and good tourq up hills
@wmnapier5 ай бұрын
You have more speed than you think if that clutch was not continously splipping. Get the correct clutch and bigger sprocket on the rear. You probably have the bell part where the clutch pads ride burnt down as well. With the proper clutch you should just touch the gas and it will take off from a dead stop.
@bensnider15817 ай бұрын
You need a larger rear sprocket for hills. 🖖🏻
@daytonherrington6857 Жыл бұрын
Your burning clutches because its never fully engaging its constantly dragging. Ive never had the chain transmission but it sounds like you need a 56t rear sprocket to even use the engine in its operating range, also turn your idle down it sounds like its idling at 2k and these can safely idle below 1k rpm, turn the idle control screw on the carb slowly to the left until it dies, then turn it 1/4 turn to the right, that should get you at least a happier transmission!
@CR03_Outdoor_Adventures Жыл бұрын
Right thanks for pointing that out. I tuned the idle shortly afterwards. I guess I was so focused on the clutch and the pedaling gears that I completely forgot about it lol. It’s running better now but I’m still going to do more to it. Surprisingly, the clutch I smoked in the video seems to be hanging on. It lasted longer than the one that came with it. I might get a different rear sprocket like you said if it continues to eat clutches. I don’t want to make it much slower though. It’s a perfect speed on flat for what it is.
@WATCHTHIS-zt8nz9 ай бұрын
It's idling way to high and should scuff up your clutch pads so they grab better plus need to check you springs on the clitches maybe to strong of springs it just touch and it will break clutches apart on you even take the clutch bull and it's the smoother

Ok hold up! There is something wrong. I think you are getting the wrong clutch for your transmission. There are two styles. Your idle is way high. Turn it down until it seems like it's going to die then turn up just enough that it runs. Your clutch is not engaging. It's to strong. It should be fully engaged buy 1000 rpms. These little motors work good. Go uphill no problem. Fix the clutch problem.

remove the scilencer for the 2 stroke it gives it some back pressure but for the 4 stroke all its doing is restricting the devil out of it
@samsungdevice81635 ай бұрын
yes, 4 strokes rely more on compression than 2 strokes (whereas two strokes use the air/gas/oil ratio more effectively). A 4 stroke will provide more torque on the low end, and a two stroke will provide more speed on the high end. The issues with 4 strokes is the lack of quality parts (in the cheaper bike kits), but have more potential in life expectancy than a two stroke (when everything is adjusted and switched out- that should be adjusted and switched out).

Ur idle is super high mabby its burrning up the clutch at idle
@wmnapier5 ай бұрын
That clutch is not the correct clutch for that 4 stroke. Your idle is way to high to start with, sounds like its at half throttle all the time. That clutch has got to go...... the springs are to strong for the 4 stroke RPMs that clutch is not even expanding to catch the surface on the bell part of the clutch. If that clutch was fully engaging you would be flying on the level straight aways. A bigger sprocket and a good clutch that expands easier at low RPMs would be a really great performance improovement.

@CR03_Outdoor_Adventures4 ай бұрын
That’s just how we’ve been riding bicycles around here since we were little kids. I wouldn’t ride like that on a street legal bike that can actually keep up with traffic. You can’t tell because the camera is mounted to my chest, but I constantly am looking around for cars before switching lanes. I like to ride on the shoulder into oncoming traffic on a bicycle so that I can see the cars and get off the road if I need to make room. Too many cyclists get hit from behind on the shoulder. There’s no need to worry about stop signs, red lights, or wrong way signs on a bicycle in my town. The local police have seen me plenty of times with motorized bikes and are cool with it.

@CR03_Outdoor_Adventures3 ай бұрын
Not sure what you’re talking about there. That bike was only 49cc and wasn’t very fast at all. It’s not a motorcycle so I treat it like a regular bicycle. Despite the camera angle, I constantly look all around me and I look both ways before switching lanes. Riding into head on traffic is a lot safer when your bike can’t hit half of the speed that some people drive. Maybe it’s different in dense urban areas where people go 25mph, but haven’t you seen all of the people on the news who got hit from behind while in the shoulder? If they could’ve seen the driver who wasn’t paying attention they might have had a chance to go off the road.
