I married a psychopath. is it so wrong to expect my ex to be a father to his children. but why get married if you are not expecting to stay married. Words cannot express how your words have inspired me. Thank you. Much love Kimberly

dear Kimberly I have spent 48 years hating my ex husband. then last 2 years hating his 3rd wife as apparently she was there since my 45 yr old son was 3.. and she told him that. it is difficult to let go of anger I was 15 when we met he was 20. he was mine and father to my kids. you don't know how bad it feels to see him with someone else. so I need to find Ajahns speach on letting go of anger. There have been more angers where I wanted people dead. I have lived my life in anger and now want to let it go.x

Thats where we got it wrong my friend just because we were born in sri lankan to parents who believed in some aspects of buddhism we dont become buddhists
@NoobTube41484 жыл бұрын
Brahm is doing a great deed by bringing Theravada Buddhism to the modern World. In Sri Lanka and I guess Thailand too, culture is intertwined with Buddhism because both countries have had it for so long. I find that western students of the Thai forest traditions who have gone onto be Ajahn’s are great teachers for this reason. They teach in a different way. But also their forest tradition keeps it very fundamental. Which I think is also good. Because that’s what the Buddha meant for lay people.
@newfilmtrailer77334 жыл бұрын
Because you dont know about Sri Lanka and dont have a value.That is the real thing,because you are following the western science keeping on your ghead and worshipingto it.That is the problem. Another thing is,you want to listen the buddism in English not in sinhala. Because you dont have a value for sinhala.That is only..
@NoobTube41484 жыл бұрын
new film trailer you sound harsh. But what you say is partly true. But what should someone do if they don’t understand Sinhala very well and are horrible at learning new languages and this is no fault of their own, did you decide what kind of situation to be born in? Anyway, the deeper I go into Buddhism I find that learning Pali is the way to do it and knowing Sinhalese helps a lot. Also a key difference in Thai forest tradition I like is that they don’t stress too much on abidhamma which Buddha taught to his mother and other heavenly beings. It can get very complex. I find staying away from that for lay people and learning more about paticcasammupada is more helpful for lay people.

Me too! I’ve rewatched this video a couple of times now and I still remember the first time I heard these ideas. I was working in a ghetto corner store, stocking beer in the back room, and thinking about how irritated I was by all the customers, and listening to this talk. And it dawned on me, everyone’s doing their best in life, skillfully or not, just let them be, you won’t be doing this job forever so why not just let go and be happy, geez. And that stuck with me. Oddly enough I had a lot fewer conflicts with rude customers after that too. Probably because my attitude really did changed and they stopped sensing my ill will and reacting to it in kind.

Since then, I've experienced that letting go leads to much more happiness and I am gradually learning to be content with the way things are. Thank you, Ajahn Brahm, for sharing your personal understanding of the Buddha's Dharma. I watch your talks on a daily basis and have done so for a couple years now. You are the closest thing I've had to a teacher outside of my own personal experiences and I just can't thank you enough for shining light on so many different subjects. I look forward to the day that I have the opportunity to thank you in person. Until then, may you continue to know the peace and compassion that make you so wise . You are loved at the fullest. Thank You

In our modern life, we can be monk or nun’s life without shaving your hair or wear special robes as long as we live a mindfully simple life. This invaluable and powerful teaching is easy to achieving if we are put our mind into it. Thanks🙏

My favorite part: "Don't let knowledge stand in the way of truth" !! And elucidation with that restaurant menu example was perfect !! :) :)

One of the smartest things I ever learned to do is to interrupt my own trail of thought. Whenever I get pessimistic, complain, judge, take something for granted, feel impatient or ripped off etc.. It's just a case of acknowledging it when you can, and over time, you notice it more and more. Once you notice you can remind yourself of why it's no good, and then you can get back to being in an awesome mindset. It's like a 3 second meditational reset button. It's up there with taking responsibility for situations, keeping productive and exploring and experiencing life with others in a social network/community, and having something worthy of dying for.

I like how he addresses letting go of happy moments as well as bad ones. We hear "let go of the past" all the time but usually only think of letting go of bad memories. Letting go of good memories can be just as important because otherwise we will never be able to live fully in the present.

I've been watching videos on the four noble truths the noble eightfold path over the last couple of weeks and am letting go of past, future and concerns more and more... Evening meditations are helping with the letting go... This is the best teaching I've seen and resonated with me on so many levels... Will be watching this again I'm sure along with more from this amazing man... Thank you for sharing your wisdom 😊

Back few years ago, when my life was not as complicated as it is now. I couldn’t really relate to what Ajahn Brahm was explaining as I never had any burden to carry and not many things to let go. However, since entering the social society and work life, things have become rather messy and stressful and this video really helps me to clear my mind a little and allows me to see what I can throw away to ease my life. Such enlightening words for the wise teacher. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu~~~ 🙏
