After a journey of over 70 hours, the four tigers arrived at our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary and our team was relieved to see how well they have managed this long trip. ✈️
Take a look at the special first moments of the big cats stepping onto the grass in South Africa and watch them bravely explore their new home. We are so proud of Messi, Sandro, Mafalda, and Gustavo - words can’t describe the emotions we all feel after this successful rescue mission! 💚

I have no word to express my appreciation for transporting 4 TIGERS from Argentina to S. Africa. This is so wonderful and I hope the tigers will adapt in this new environment which is so much better. Yes, this is true. But they do not belong to Argentina. Some crazy people took these tigers, probably for a circus, and abandoned them in a train, in the middle of nowhere, in Argentina. What to do in this case. Probably in Asia they would kill them to prepare some medicine from their bones, skins and other organs as it is the situation in many cases. The tigers do not deserve such a fate. It was a great luck to be transported in S. Africa in this sanctuary. We have to be grateful to 4 Paws for this.@@unwoke1652

Lion's Rock South Africa has many non native species that do not belong in Africa period, but they do belong in suitable captive situations were they can feel far more free and truly be the wild animals they are.

It is somewhat odd indeed, however I am certain that if there was such a sanctuary in their land of origin, they would have been brought there. The environmental and climate conditions in South Africa, though not the same, are similar enough with the ones in their land of origin. Since they have probably never known the circumstances there, I suppose this is the next best, right?🐅🥹

Dear AboveItAll, based on the current regulations in Argentina, all big cats should live in natural reserves but there is currently no existing facility that can fulfil these legal requirements. Furthermore, tigers are not native species in South America either. FOUR PAWS can provide the closest to the tigers´ species-appropriate environment at Lionsrock. The FOUR PAWS sanctuary already provides home for other rescued tigers. Thank you for your interest! Best, the FOUR PAWS team

it's just amazing how long these tigers survived in a cage.. I was very happy to donate, but I am even more happy to see the task that has been accepted and accomplished here. I wept. Forever grateful for this rescue. I am so glad they arrived safely and they already have amazing enclosures! Their first steps were so emotional. Poor things.
