Love the videos, brother. So helpful. hey man quick question, if you don’t mind: I’m trying to replace the starter clutch (one way clutch) on my 2006 Honda rancher TRX350TE. Is it necessary to pull the swing arm to do this procedure? Or is there actually room to work by just removing the air filter box, recoil starter, and electric starter? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stagger from SLMC🔥

Hello. Can you help me please. I have (2) 300 TRX's 1988 & 1997. 1) For some reason the '97 "locks" up when shifting from 1st to 2nd, but it goes alright in 1st, then struggles to get R or N. Why? When I bought this bike it did have 2nd gear problems, I used to skip 2nd and go into 3rd no problem? 2) I stripped the '88 one to repair and do a transplant but I found 2 tiny ball bearing balls in the bottom of the engine case. The '88 bike was purchased for the use of parts, but now it seems I have 2 bikes for parts. 3) Can you offer advice or refer me to somewhere where I can read up on both bikes please.

I have the same 4wheeler and if it is slipping then that is what is wrong with it then the clutch. So I should do what you did in this video and it should be ok.

Yes if it's slipping while it's rolling at speed in gear then more than likely is this centrifugal clutch.

Will it hurt to ride it with a bad one way bearing. Everything shifts fine but when I turn off the 4wheeler I can still hear it or something spinning
@FourwheelerDoctor2 жыл бұрын
It will not hurt but your engine braking will get to where it just quits working and it will continue to keep spinning when it is switched off. I have had folks ride them for year with no ill affects.

Does the secondary clutch ever need replacement or is it typically only the primary? Thinking about doing this to mine.
@FourwheelerDoctor2 жыл бұрын
It's usually always the primary clutch that wears on these machines. Since the secondary plus is only engaged for a split second during changing gears it vary seldom wears out

@FourwheelerDoctor Жыл бұрын
The easiest way to get it back in is to slide the kick starter back on the shaft. Make sure the washer is still on the end of the shaft closest to engine. Hook the hook on the spring on the cast piece in the crankcase and rotate the shaft clockwise until the lever is below the stopper in the case. This is tough to explain. I am pretty sure I showed this process on my 300 engine assembly video. I will see if I can tag you in it.

How do you know if you need a new centrifugal clutch or a shift clutch basket?
@FourwheelerDoctor2 жыл бұрын
A very seldom replace shift clutches or shift clutch baskets. The way the clutches work on these bikes you can't ride the clutch so they very seldom wear out. However the centrifugal clutch will wear out and I still very seldom replace the basket unless it has grooves in it from metal to metal contact
@morrisoncleg69262 жыл бұрын
@@FourwheelerDoctor my dumb butt pulled a very very heavy trailer about a mile in way to high of a gear, now the thing shifts gears but barely has any power to the wheels. If I lift the wheels off of the ground they will spin while in gear. You think cf clutch still? I'm new to clutches and already have it ripped apart fumbling my way through it haha
@FourwheelerDoctor2 жыл бұрын

How does the reverse shaft spring go, ?
@FourwheelerDoctor2 жыл бұрын
It's hard to explain in words but the end of the spring with the multiple bends in it presses against the notch on the end of the reverse arm that rides on the shift drum. The straight part of the spring presses on the bottom of the crankcase. The spring will have tension on it when installed I'm just going on memory on this. So if this doesn't make sense just let me know.
