Just finished a woodsrunner and am having a great time with it. Trying to decide whether i move to a SMR or Fowler next. I can see myself setting under a tree in the woods during turkey seasoon with the fowler but I love the idea of taking an SMR squirrel hunting. You make great guns and stand behind your work. Can't go wrong with Kibler Longrifles.

A 16-gauge fowler so what could be better than that in flintlocks? Nothing! I am stoked for this because fowlers are my favorite. I have been waiting for this and now it's going to happen. The Shaw influences on this gun should really make quite a hit. A Kibler fowler yeah, I am down for that!

So happy for the progress update, and good luck on your upcoming test runs! I really enjoyed getting to see a few of the originals Jim's been using as inspiration -- thank you for showing these to us. In an earlier video, he had also mentioned the fowling gun by Richard Wilson, shown in the book "Of Sorts for Provincials" and I paused the video a few times to compare the computer model and the photos in the book. The new fowler will have absolutely beautiful lines! It'll be my fourth Kibler kit.

Very interesting, love the Shaw fowler as the period has that nice early English influence. Has an interesting wood transition from around the tang to the relief of the barrel ring which results in a slight radius down towards the barrel breach. In an alternate reality it would be super fun to see what Jim would make if he collaborated with Ron Scott with all his available knowledge and patterns of European fine fowlers!

Quite the dichotomy going on, the most advanced manufacturing making "ancient" firearms. I had a fight on a forum once about me using modern process on a kit and destroying it's heritage. I fought back with, it's a Traditions kit and is in no way historically accurate, and if the technology to do what I was doing existed back then, they would have done it.

A big Thanks for doing that for us. But what about also soldering on a small silver front sight too? Did you mention the lock that will be used? Somehow I missed that if you did. I assume you will use the Colonial Lock. What about a cross pin to hold the butt plate tang ?

I got the email announcing the soon production of these and was wondering why walnut stock wood is encouraged. For historical accuracy? Easier machining/carving? The forest is depleted of maple? I’d really have to see one all done up in walnut to decide, because that maple one looks so good. Also, I’m used to the aqua fortis finishing method and am not familiar with what it would take to make walnut look good. Pore filling? Dyes? I know you guys have put a lot of long hours into this rifle, and it does not disappoint.
