People keep talking about the Packers not having the players due to injuries, that's part of the problem. For years we are getting so many injuries accumulating over the season to the point that when the playoffs come around there is no one left and we lose. This is not unlucky or a coincidence when it happens every year, its because the whole conditioning and training methods are wrong. McCarthy as the head coach is responsible for this as its part of the culture and not only was this a big issue, there has been no discipline, synergy or momentum with our players this whole season. We need a big overhaul of training, players, methods and a new voice in the locker room. McCarthy has my respect and I wish him well for the future but it was time for a change.

@@ct7237 Obviously you struggle to comprehend complex issues, if you surmised that from that entire paragraph your standard of education is mediocre. Having most of your good players injured greatly reduces your chances of winning - that's common sense. Packers consistently have almost an entire secondary injures as well as playing 2nd backup linemen. It's impossible to win with this regardless of who the HC or QB is. This has been the case since we got smoked against Atlanta 3 years ago, playing nobodies on defense because everyone is injured and people are surprised when we lose.

Wherever Rogers was given free range to call the offense it's a hurry up style and we score, otherwise it's predictable and well scouted. The YEARS of terrible draft picks, signing of players that are on the down swing of their careers so they are cheap, has finally caught up to the them. The last player we actually signed that was still good was Reggie White. All that money they gave Rodgers is why there is no talent around him or on the defense. Rodgers cannot have it both ways, money and a great supporting cast. That’s why Brady has the rings while Rodgers has the stats, he plays under market value to allow the patriots to acquire good talent.

Are you dumb? The Packers never made any moves in free agency even before Rodgers got his money. So what, he's supposed to save money for the team that'll never be used? Also the Patriots have proven themselves to be effective with their budget and going into free agency, unlike the Packers who do jackshit

Hi Curtis, McCarthy didn’t take Green Bay to “a couple of Super Bowls.” He took us to one. Correction: Aaron Rodgers and arguably the best defense the Packers have even had took us there in 2010. McCarthy had access to two HOF quarterbacks his entire career in GB and he went 1-3 in NFC Championship games. Rodgers has slowly regressed under his leadership. Also, McCarthy was calling West Coast Offense WR routes that are ten+ years old. For those of us who have watched this team every week for the past 13 years are excited to see him move on. Our only worry is that we have flushed Rodgers prime years down the toilet that was the McCarthy Era.

Not to mention how every season all the starters fall to injury, i think there’s something there that needs to change and it’s not the player it never was in my opinion. Think about it how many players have been changed and it’s still the same, I think it’s the coach that’s a problem and well all we can do now is wait and see.

Stale playbook, stupid play calls, poor game management, horrible player conditioning, bad game adjustments (or adjustments made much too late in the game) and conservative game plans are what doomed McCarthy. The most potent the offense has been in the last four years has been in two-minute drills, no-huddle and broken play ad-libs by Rodgers. These guys obviously haven’t been paying ANY attention to how this team has actually been performing, and it’s evident when they initially said McCarthy took them to a couple Super Bowls and no one corrected this lie.

Especially that 2014 NFC title game the Packers defense was actually playing lights out they were up 16-0 and should've been up more but thanks to the great Aaron Rodgers and his numerous amount of overthrows to receivers that should've been first downs or even touchdowns it kept Seattle in that game.

No one in the league has had more yards dropped by their receivers than the Packers. Rodgers is merely having a down year, Rodgers needs to be amazing all the time for the Packers to be able to win, that's a roster issue and a Head Coach issue.

McCarthy couldn't win with Favre and only got the record and Super Bowl he has because of Rodgers. His offense is 10 years old and has not evolved.

Hey, Howie! Just because John Dorsey (Cleveland Browns GM) has a “buddy boy!” in Mike McCarthy does not necessarily imply that McCarthy is interested in coaching the still-immature Shake ‘n’ Bake/Happyfeet (Baker) Mayfield, especially after such a long tenure with an elite-from-the-get-go QB such as Aaron Rodgers. If I am Mike McCarthy, I take a one year sabbatical, spend time with family, reenergize my mental focus, and then make a pitch to whichever NFL team will be fortunate enough to draft ‘Bama QB Tua Tagovailoa. Else, I try to pair myself with a team that is just at the brink of breaking through to a Super Bowl berth such as Jacksonville (is Eli Manning headed there this off season?) or Atlanta (no disrespect Dan Quinn, and despite all, Matt Ryan is still a Top 10 QB).

Barely any talent around Rodgers and until they address the talent issue I don't care who the coach is.. Just feels like they felt like they can win with Rodgers and a bunch of scrubs because Rodgers is a great Qb.. They have to sign big name free agents on both sides of the ball next year if they wanna compete with the top teams in the NFC.. Rodgers is great but every great QB needs good talent to succeed in today's NFL..

Mike McCarthy would NOT have gotten the Cowboys up for the challenge of handling the Saints. Jason Garrett gets a ton of blame for everything that goes wrong and zero credit for getting the best out of the talent that he has. That's fare weather Cowboys fans for you. Short sightedness and no vision. Yeah a REAL fan said it.

If they are smart they will go after kliff Kingsbury for OC and/or head coach. I could see them trying to get eric bieniemy as head coach, and would be happy to see the chiefs grab kingsbury as OC. McCarthy will end up with john Dorsey coaching the browns

Well Rodgers sure made out in all of this. McCarthy is gone. McCarthy may not have been cutting it as a coach in Green Bay but please don't scream Rodgers has no talent around him. Rodgers gladly accepted a huge payday, which may make it hard to sign any potential difference making talent.

†RVSTY TEVSPOON† you’re misremembering it. Jerry Jones said “You stand or you don’t play for me! You’re paid performers.” He did a really smart thing. They kneeled before the anthem to show respect to bringing awareness etc And THEN THEY STOOD FOR THE ANTHEM. Cowboys win the argument. If only the nation could do the same.

People need to remember a good portion of rodgers success is related to McCarthy and and having a good receiving Corp and supporting cast around him for for years. He had the luxury of being Brett Favres backup and good coaching early in his career. How successful would brady have been without Bill belicheck all these years. No telling. McCarthy has made mistakes but time for a change. Hope new coach can put rodgers and his Prima Donna attitude in a double check.

Packers did McCarthy a favor by firing him now. He will have more time to get a new coaching job and why have McCarthy tortured for the last 4 games. The Packers can also start the process earlier of finding a coach.

This firing was long overdue. When u have a elite quarterback and barely make the playoffs in recent memory then u deserve to be let go. There's no way the Packers should under achieve. The defense never been great and Rodgers can only do so much. Someone has to go.
