As a former cps worker in a different state, that one line reason is a bunch of crock. There is significantly more info behind the closure along with reason, visits, meetings etc that are included. If she knows she didn't close the case she needs to sue and all that info will come out. They can't hide it unless they plan to hide every single case they've ever had.

She isn’t standing up for herself. She was the supervisor. The buck stops with her. Good firing. We need people in that job who take that responsibility seriously. She is most likely lying, she has to realize things like this are documented. That single line came from a case file management system. We use something similar at our department. The reason they only got a single line is because when it comes up on the screen there are multiple other cases associated with that investigator. It has named of people under investigation, victim names and possibly still open investigations. They legally can’t share that info so those lines were removed. If what she is claiming is the truth she would have already lawyered up.
@shabbykat2736 ай бұрын
When she sue them they’ll need to come up with something more substantial than one line on a sheet of paper. All databases have a reporting option that can pull up the record and what information is needed. There was no real effort put forth to provide confirmation of who closed the file.

I believe her. If the closing is such a secure process, where are the signed documents indicating she closed it? If the agency presents a chain of documents leading to the closure of the case with explanation for closing, as they should, they’d have some form to present to you. I think someone doesn’t want to admit they screwed up. The real problem is there is no secure process. There is no good transactional documentation obvious here. I’ve seen it before. It still astounds me how inefficiently and illogically most agencies and businesses are run. I’ve never gotten a job at a place that didn’t need massive rehauling of systems and processes. Sometimes they allowed me to do that; sometimes they didn’t want it. Some people prefer obscurity to hide their incompetencies.

So does DCFS work differently in different states? Like if there wasn’t a removal of the child then a DCFS caseworker can just close a case? When my husband and I fostered last year a judge was the only person who could officially close the case. Everyone had to kind of be supportive of closing the case, like the CPS workers, lawyers, and child advocates, but the judge ultimately was the one who closed it.
