As a Brit I admire many things about America and its people but I find it sad that so many of its veterans, like our own, struggle for so many years after they leave the service. It is about time that the Western democracies took better care of their people, and particularly those who have served. Shelter, food and healthcare are needed by everyone yet so many struggle on without those essentials, or at least with the minimum amounts of them. I applaud the Fox5 team for helping out those who require extra support, even if they are too proud to admit it. People do care but are often too busy making ends meet themselves that they have little time for others.

@@sramoore0075187 no disrespect man, i just dont really feel like commenting about the fact that vets are treated so fucking bad that they end up commiting suicide by cops and half the cops are so fucked because of shit like this half them are vets tryna be cops to prevent that same sort of shit. my dad was a multiple division vet. my grandad was army. i definitely don't disrespect my elders or my vets. but at the end of the day, this shit is truely wack, and that is all bad. like you said though, if you can thank them, and if you can do more do more. the people i like the most , my idols are more like the dustin poriers and the rought but charitable cut. i dont like to say as much as some but i can. thanks man if you served have a good one and hope your veterans day was good too.

It is so unfair. For a country that spends so much money on their military they spend so little on the humans serving their country. Shameful.

I can’t believe it….this humble man was willing to give his blessing to someone else even though he himself was in dire need and disabled. This kind lady and the station she represents were gracious enough and insisted he take his blessings and this he did! Well done!!! Bravo!

We owe everything to our veterans. Always the first to give and the last to take. It breaks my heart that some veterans are homeless and struggling. The last man was just precious. Imagine how beautiful the world would be if everyone was just so kind and loving

Not a big fan of reporters who shove microphones in people’s faces but this one was a sweetheart. She gave him a couple of little hugs & squeezes and you could see her kindness & genuine concern for his wellbeing. That world of close human contact between strangers seems so far away today unfortunately, where masks and vax segregation is creating an even bigger gulf.

I did that once and the way people reacted, you would have thought I brought back life! The women started crying and thanking me, other customers were telling me what a nice thing that was. I have to admit, it did feel good. I just keep remembering the time I got laid off, and my employment ran out. The phone company was turning off my phone. Then everything just changed. The owner of the complex I lived in stopped charging me rent, people just started bringing me food, a friend paid all of my bills. So my one act of kindness doesn't compare to the love and kindness these people showed. Everybody needs help every now and then. We live on this planet together so let's act like it!

As I was standing behind the buffet replacing items I noticed a man in uniform with one arm and another veteran helping him put food on his plate. That image will stay with me until the day I die. I can’t even with this story… omg. This is so lovely. I remember when I was doing “well”, I had the notion to give the cashier at Walmart a gift card that I was going to use for her to spend on Christmas (I had a feeling she needed it somehow). People actually really can’t believe it. They say, “Why?… I don’t understand.” I’m now not in as well of a position but still give what I can. We all need love and unconditional help sometimes.
