Recessions are part of the economic cycle, all you can do is make sure you're prepared and plan accordingly. I graduated into a recession (2009). My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today I'm a VP at a global company, own 3 rental properties, invest in stocks and biz, built my own business, and have my net worth increase by $500k in the last 4 years.

Let's face it... buying more stocks & index funds during stock market corrections and bear markets is scary. Which makes it really hard to do for most people like me. I have 260k I want to transfer into an s&p but its hard to bite the bullet and do it.

Tired of the "recession is coming!" threat. Recessive periods come along with equivalent market opportunities if you are well informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass wealth in the midst of economic turmoil and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Invariably, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich

Risk mitigation is indeed something to consider well before setting out on inveestments. Most often than not, CFAs take care of this perfectly. People downplay the role of CFAs until being burnt by their own instincts. I was in a similar situation a few years ago; Took my chances but stocks went crashing. Realizing I wasn't good at timing the market, I started working with an Adviser, which helped me build a $1.6m portfolio.

With the Fed cutting interest rates by 50 bps, what do you think will happen to the stock market? My portfolio has performed exceptionally well this year, but I am concerned about the possibility of a market crash and losing my gains though but, it's all on a brighter and splurging side for Gold, should I look that way?
@rogerwheelers4322
@rogerwheelers4322 Ай бұрын
Gold is often seen as a safe-haven asset that can protect against inflation and economic uncertainty. But like any investment, it carries risks. To determine if gold is the right investment option for you, an investment advisor can help you weigh the potential benefits and risks of investing in gold. They can also help you create a well-diversified portfolio that includes gold as part of a broader investment strategy. An investment advisor can help you decide how much of your portfolio should be allocated to gold and select other investments that can complement your gold holdings.

Investing in gold is a reliable choice, and I plan to keep buying more to make up for my losses. While silver is also a good investment, my collectibles are not as similar. It's important to have clear investment goals and educate yourself on the type of investment that interests you. I work with a financial consultant regulated by the SEC, and started small, but eventually accumulated over $800,000.

The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

It isn't that the richest people in the world are taking so much of the taxes of the workers in America. It is the spending that is out of control by the government who collects those taxes. Actually, it is the working people who vote for the big spenders.
@Mrskateboardboy
@Mrskateboardboy Ай бұрын
The working people want to believe in a money tree. Intelligent people know that governments are just like households. You CAN'T spend more than you earn for long. You can delay the reckoning with credit cards, bank loans, and the like, but it is YOUR DEBT and it has to be paid sometime. Trump was on the right track. He lowered taxes so that people kept more of what they earned and had more fun spending it than letting the government spend it for them. When taxes are lower, the government usually takes in more revenues and people are happier spending their earnings on what they like, rather than letting the government fleece them and then spend it for them. Democrats are corrupted. Trump was right all along.

@@888strummer 1) Trump had to deal with debt he inherited and had to spend cash to goose the economy,, and 2) Tax income tends to increase when earners are taxed less and have more to spend, and Trump's ideas took more than 4 years to works. Trump will spend just as much and then even more than last time he was in office. Unfortunately we have candidates who refuse to tighten the hatches and really fix our debt crisis. Trump will do more than Kamala while stilling driving up our debt but that’s what America wants since he’ll most likely be voted into office.

As a normal everyday consumer, I don't spend any surplus cash if I don't have to. Don't know about everyone else, but I only get what I need, what I want I save up for. The FED lowered its inflation objective to less than 2% in 2012. They changed the target to a long-term average of 2% inflation. Because long-term interest rates are set at inflation plus a profit margin, the implication is lower interest rates. I consider the current rising interest rate to be a very serious issue it will cause more investors to withdraw from the market. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

If anything, it'll get worse. Very soon, affordable housing will no longer be affordable. So anything anyone wants to do, I will advise they do it now because the prices today will look like dips tomorrow. Until the Fed clamps down even further, I think we're going to see hysteria due to rampant inflation. You can't halfway rip the band-aid off.

The new mortgage rates are crazy, add to that the recession and the fact that mortgage rules are getting more difficult, and home prices will need to fall by a minimum of 40% (more like 50%) before the market normalizes. For now, get your money (as much as you can) out of the housing market and get into the financial markets or gold. If you are at a cross roads or need honest advice on the best moves to take now, it is best to seek an independent advisor who knows about the financial markets.

People like to be taxed less and spend their earnings on what they want rather than let the government take a hefty slice and spend it as the government sees fit. They are more motivated to work and spend, and the government usually takes in more in taxes when this is the case. Trump knew this. It is called supply-side economics: tax less and let the earners spend it on what is important to them.
