Foxwell scanner Activation and Software install Set up

NEVER FORMAT the original SD card. It has hidden files that may not copy on your clone card and you must use it to update the scanner. DO NOT discard the original card before you TEST your clone card can do updates. In fact, keep the original one for spare - I did tape mine directly on the back of the scanner. If you only have 1 car brand, a 8GB will be plenty enough. These are not worth it. These have only one car brand ($60-$80 for any extra car brand). The NT680 Lite has all the car brands free and already included for about the same price. Check out KZbin videos with the model you want to buy to get an idea. The only advantage of the NT530 is it can reset the transmission adaptations on some cars - on Volvo it only reset them, but didn't start the relearn sequence. There is also the NT630 but it can't read engine or transmission modules. Be sure to keep the ORIGINAL SD CARD safely (may tape it somewhere on the scanner) - when you update the scanner or add another car brand, you will need to use the original card (then copy it again on the better quality one) You can CONTACT Foxwell by email [e-mail] or [e-mail] I got answers in 2-3 working days. It seems the NT530 can retract the electronic park brake EPB which must be done when replacing the rear brake pads - you can still do this without a scanner but it's more trouble (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmHKlIJro7SLbdU). This is good news because other scanner don't activate the EPB for brake pads replacement - I will update a video on this To UPDATE the files on your scanner. Be sure to have the original SD card in the scanner. Connect the scanner to USB and click on the scanner Update button. On the Activate tab, the FoxAssist should automatically display the scanner model and serial number. Click on the Updates tab on FoxAssist then click on the blue Update button to update your existing files - it will take about 10 minutes. You will get a pop up message saying to exit the FoxAssist - do not touch this message until all but the first file show green. At this point your scanner car files are updated. You can then click Yes on the pop up window, which will then turn off and update the FoxAssist software itself (you can say 'yes' to remove the old version from your computer). To ADD EXTRA CAR BRANDS to your scanner. OPTION 1 You can only pay with PayPal (doesn't appear to accept credit cards). Go to this page (no need to log in), select the Language and the Version (the car brand), add to cart then proceed to check out. BE SURE to send them a NOTE with the Serial S/N number that is on the back of your code reader, otherwise it will not work. It can take several days to receive the files. The reason is modern cars only have an oil pressure switch sender (on/off) which doesn't read continuous data like on older cars before 1990's which were equipped with a proper analog oil pressure gauge.

Wow, I learned a lot about my Foxwell from your video. I bought a Foxwell NT630 Plus and thought I can download any or all vehicle manufacturers on the download. Your saying I can only download one vehicle and have to pay $60-$80 extra for other car manufacturers? I don't understand why Foxwell doesn't list the Activate button first before the Download button on their software update screen. You must first activate as shown in your video, then download only your single vehicle. Thanks for stating not to have your car in the 'On' position when plugging or unplugging your Foxwell scanner. I agree with you, I would have bought the NT680 Lite so I can have access to all car brands.

If my micro sd chip gets damage, can i buy a new one and just download the files on a new 8gb sd card by updating it in the fox assist app?

You simply copy and paste all files on the new card BUT for updates you must use the original card - I think there are hidden files on the original card needed for updates. If you are good with computers, may try reveal these hidden files and copy them as well on the new card, then try checking for updates with the new card see if it works. I always recommend preserving the original card - I keep it on my scanner secured with a scotch tape on it

What size card did everyone buy to replace the Chinese card? I'm also guessing if we clone the card from the diskpart command line or a cloning software like macrium reflect then we can probably discard the original card.

I had no problems with the scanner or with the SD card, but I only did use it maybe 10-15 times. I did also do a software update (free) and also added a second car brand to it (extra $60). You can see the videos in the Foxwell playlist on my channel. Also, look in the first pinned comment here above, if you don't need very specific functions such as transmission re-adaptation, you may want to choose a scanner model that has all car brands.

When I purchased mine online directly from the Foxwell site, it came with the first car already installed. But I've heard about other people who purchased their scanner from 3rd party distributors which sent the scanner empty and had to upload the first car themselves - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKOUm6x8nNarhs0

@@Peppermint1 I bought it direct from foxwell.. reason I bought it is to bleed the ABS system on my 2000 bmw z3 and to troubleshoot ABS/DSC ISSUES.. My pre pump was seized and I replaced it. so im hoping the scanner will work on the 2000 bmw z3. I already bought the round adapter plug for the underhood ABS /DSC diagnostic port.

Yes. You must have the *original* memory card inside the scanner. Will not work with a copy of the card
