Yes people it's not that they sound specifically like another band but the sound and styles they are using is what's appealing to me, the tongue and cheek lyrics and the effects, the little idiosyncrasies of the 60s scattered all over foxygens music, how they can literally make their albums sound like musics pastime is what makes them an interesting group

I agree, if nothing else, they are a novelty act. Definitely 'everything but the kitchen sink' retro approach.

so happy i found these guys. As many others have mentioned, tons of influences. The obvious is the 66-67 Stones and whoever else was playing that style back then be it The Animals or The Zombies. And there's a baroque sound that feels like Doors. Some have said that one part is Talking Heads; Id disagree and say its Violent Femmes since they have stated lo-fi indie influences like Daniel Johnston and early Flaming Lips. Its fun to try to catch what sounds are which. I don't think its a knock on them. They aren't oblivious to their own sound sounding like older bands. BJM was/is the same way but did the opposite of hiding it.

I can kind of see a bit of a VU influence, with the experimental song structures, and the sort of low-fi kind of recording, with a lot of reverb and stuff. Really that's when the comparison stops for me, I see much more a resemblance to The Doors, and other sort of baroque pop acts. His voice definitely resembles Mick Jagger's though. As for The Strokes, the only resemblance to me is the vocalists' similar delivery to Lou Reed, otherwise their music is The Stooges and Television for me.
