They seem good, could look at them myself. As far as modules go, I still use the EV100 with an external module feeding into the AV in. A bit of a frankengoggle but a cheap goggle with brilliant reception. I do think however all goggles should come in a version without reception so an external can be mounted/used because once you’ve invested into a good module then you really only have a few goggles to pick from & they are stupid expensive. Imagine the price of these without the internal, I could afford that.

Great video, Stew! Awesome review! I love how your mates do all of us a favor by agreeing to be recorded giving their very first candid impressions. Knowing that I’m seeing real pilots giving a candid opinion about a product adds tremendous credibility to your reviews. It’s a real service to all of us. Love the goggles. Very impressive performance and impressively accurate saturation, not to mention the range. I’m flying HDOs and although I really don’t need another goggle, I might consider upgrading my wife’s goggles from her current box POS, especially at this price. For me, I’d buy the X version. Adding head tracking capability as well as a forward facing camera is a great value for 40 bucks. I can think of situations where I’d use the camera, and I have dreams of a long range wing.... Thanks so much for the video. Cheers!

I did actually use it when watching the wing over the water, Cal was using my sun glasses so i switched to the front cam on ym goggles and watched it that way. do you use rapid fire?
@JohnFSmitheugene5 жыл бұрын
Yup, I use RapidFire on my HDOs. Judging from your dvr footage, though, the view using the native receivers in the goggles yields a gorgeous image. Which brings to mind another question; is the dvr footage as good as it looks in the video? It’s certainly as clean as I’ve ever seen. That would be a huge boon by itself, if the dvr is as good as it looks like it is. How would you compare it to RapidFire reception?

The o2x's. I drove over my fatshark and did a little damage to the faceplate and shell. Removed all the innards from my battered case put them in the new shell and bunged on the new faceplate and there as good as new. These skyzones look pretty cool though so why not get a pair specially at that price. Bargain.

It seems like the price difference between the 02X and 02C is much less now (more like $16 USD difference). I'm not sure if the 02C got more expensive or the 02X got cheaper, but it makes the decision to opt for the 02X easier. I probably won't ever use the front facing camera or head tracking, but the $16 seems worth it just in case...

I had a pair of Skyzone goggles about 4 years ago. I bought them because they had the HDMI in and the built in camera. The one thing I didn't like was the fact that they don't make +2 to +6 diopter lens for us far sighted people. Just -2 to -6. I had to buy a cheap pair of reading glasses and, with the help of a grinding tool, make my own lenses. For this reason I am using a 20" monitor to fly my Phantom 4 pro plus.The little screen on the remote is too small. I really loved flying with goggles. When they get smart enough to make the plus diopter lenses, I will buy a pair.

I thought a lot how to start this post and think best will be to start from saying thanks to Joshua Bardwell and Gal Kremer. Guys, both you are great and I really appreciate your objective relationship to FPV community. You could easily ignore my notes about test results and that could become a coffin for OwlRX. But you spend extra time to look into, make extra tests and recheck results and adding notes to videos or unlisting them. I highly appreciate your help and want to thank you again for your help, understanding and objective vision. Lets start from one of OwlRX secrets and operation logic. Unlike RF it don't makes sync pulse recovery inside, but it allows and helps goggles to make that instead (yes, fatshark goggles have quite solid functionality for that. Also as test results showed Skyzones do that well too) - that allowed me to make receiver with good multipath reflections handling in minimal development period and avoid hardware compatibility issues as RF got with some cameras. That is not the only OwlRX secret, but it is one of required things to make it work good. What that means ? That means if there are no fatshark/skyzone analog processing part used - we loose part of signal processing chain and performance goes down. So if you use some dockstation with HDMI and put HDMI to goggles - that won't work well. Or if you use dock station with some monitor/dvr. But if you use simple dock station and connect it to composite video input of goggles - then all is fine and great as if module is installed directly in goggles (how it was designed initially to be used). Well, one more thing, in Eachine EV200D goggles mostly performance will be bad too (thanks to Stevan D'Agostino for making lot of tries and tests). As I see that goggles have poor or no sync recovery logic in signal processing, so I don't recommend OwlRX for that goggles. From owlrc

This works well because humans aren't as sensitive to red and blue, and it all looks normal to us. LCD's are RGBRGB, so a given an LCD and an OLED, the LCD will usually appear to have a higher resolution.

I bought a skyzone v2 about a year ago for $400 after Le drib recommended them and I’m not sure it was the best decision I’ve made. I’ve gone out to fly sometimes and they won’t even turn on.

It has taken Skyzone awhile to get it right but it looks like they now have a goggle that's gonna put them back on the podium. Better late than never I suppose! I might have to give these a try next... I do want to venture into long range though so may have to get something that accepts the rapid fire. We will see! Nice review Stu!

Everyone has a different shaped face... I tried the Aomway v1's and they were a terrible fit for my forehead. Fatshark Dom v3's fit fine, HDO's pretty good but sit on my nose so they hurt after a while. But I'll fix that with some extra padding in that area (eventually). Cheers

That's funny I just noticed you have a ocean City New Jersey shirt..I live an HR from there in PA hahahah.. anyway I was gonna purchase skyzone 030 ones but no one has them in stock so I got the 020x ones did I make a good decision I'm thinking are they good goggles as far as distance flying and picture quality? Thank you

Are the 02x still a relevant goggle? Should I buy OLED instead?
@NamsoftWeb5 жыл бұрын
Hi Stew, they are on sale at the moment for $279.99 but it says that the price will increase on july 21 to 409 for the 02c version , Do you think it is still good value at the higher price

Are the included cables RCA to the Micro HDMI? I just ordered mine (upgrade from Quanum box goggles lol) and want to run video in from Liftoff Sim.

I am just getting into FPV. I bought the TineyHawk RTF kit and have spent about 40 hours on Velocidrone. I am feeling lots of confidence on the Simulator. However when flying my TineyHawk with the box goggles things go different. I have a hard time seeing the ground and horizon unless going fast. Will these Goggles Allow me to connect them to my computer and let me use them in the Simulator? Right now I need the same confidence wearing goggles as I do when flying the simulator and the Box Goggles will not allow me to connect to the simulator.

Echo5fpv , me too, but apparently you can do a mod to fit a fan using a fat shark face plate. Can’t remember the person who showed it, but I’m sure you could find it.

Hello. I own an old pair of Sky02 3D googles. Just regular SKY02 with no S in it and i think they are pretty old as i purchased them 2 years ago used. Will skyzone 02X be significant better? I have never tryed any other googles so im not sure if i would see any difference? I think the screen looks a bit small on my SKY02

Ciao Stu!! What a great review as usual!! I am new into the Fpv and I have seen all your videos, I was about to buy the EV800D to be able in the future to have a spare google or a portable monitor for guests, but seeing this video I am a bit confuse now.. They look great, what would be your advice? Should I start with those ones to then upgrade to a more solid one? Regards from Uk :)
