Thank you for putting Blessed Fr. Seraphim Rose's life in perspective. Sadly, so many people don't understand or value repentance and conversion, but would rather emphasize a "do what thou wilt" lifestyle as something to be proud of. He found his true identity in Christ. Thank God that Fr. Seraphim has shone the Light of God's grace for all to see. He will soon be known as Saint Seraphim (Rose).

This is wonderful! I’m trying to get involved in the effort to see the glorification of Fr S Rose. We have an 8000 square foot beeswax candle factory warehouse which has a conference room and large Orthodox library. Hopefully we can have events there to further the sharing of knowledge of this wonderful man! We’re in Jamestown California and our candle business is San Jose Candle Company.

Fr. Seraphim didn't have the canonical form of Orthodox baptism (triple immersion in the Orthodox Church), so this may present a problem for his canonization.

Very sad that she is so far from The Faith and Savior that Blessed Fr. Seraphim found. May Christ God, through the prayers of His servant Seraphim have mercy on her and save her. Father Seraphim found The Precious Pearl that nothing in this world of delusion can compare with. She should just not speak at all about those things she has no understanding of. Eugene Rose died and was raised to newness of life in Christ and became to literally thousands upon thousands an inspiration to embrace the unseen warfare against the passions and find healing in The Holy Orthodox Church. His life is an inspiration on par with that of St. Mary of Egypt and the book about his life by Abbot Damascene is the first and last word of all that needs to be said about this stuff. Thank you Lord Jesus for gifting us with the example of Righteous Seraphim and may we, by Thy grace, come in some small measure to the stature of this modern day Saint.

But isn’t it telling that even an orthodox saint’s own family follows this secular garbage? The West is lost bud, just accept it and start planning on where to move

Did Fr. Seraphim ever address his conversion from homosexuality directly? It would be a wonderful witness, especially since he was such a deep thinker.

No he didn't. He never mentioned it. Only few people knew. So once his niece came up with that story, it was shocking at first, but very inspirational if you think more deeply about it.

It is interesting how she could take to write such a biography and yet having come away from it with little or no understanding of Orthodoxy.

She seems nice but definitely has a bias. She also has no real understanding of The Church and its Spiritual teaching. Good for you Joseph, lovingly, disagreeing and thus bringing about a different picture of Saint- yes Saint Seraphim.

The starting point in this interview is that 1. Homosexuality is accepted by God 2. Fr Seraphim became a monastic to escape homosexuality 3. It would have been fine had he embraced homosexuality. This is insane and has zero concept of what is Orthodoxy and what is repentance. People want to try to utilise this history as some negative part of Eugene’s life, but from the Orthodox perspective Fr Seraphim’s example is to be applauded - he found the truth, repented and never looked back. His life is a testimony against the perversion of same sex attraction, not any endorsement of it. Saint Issac the Syrian writes that our life here is like a manuscript which can be edited and revised up to the point of death - and Fr Seraphim seems to have truly lived these words and made such revisions that he, in the words of Vladika Nektary, “was a righteous man, probably a saint.”

To think someone becomes a monastic to escape their sin or to hide from the world is retarded, people have no idea what monasticism is. You don't become an olympian athlete because you want to escape being fat.
