I worked construction as an electrician for over 15 years and I never seen anyone cut the bottom plate for the door openings before they stood up the wall. Putting that temporary strap in to keep that wall straight was a great idea instead of cutting the bottom plate later. Thanks for letting us watch you and Rebecca put those walls up. Great video.

Looking good, guys! I know what you mean about vacation being work. My sister and I do projects on the farm for our vacations and wear our tails out, but it’s so gratifying to get them done. So yeah, it’s worth it. I agree with someone else here about renting a scissor lift for that ceiling. That much ladder work is risky, and more so when fatigue kicks in.

Evan put a couple of box fans at the bottom of the rafters to bring that heat out of the rafters to the floor you’ll enjoy the added heat at body level as time goes on you maybe adding more attractive fans later on but these will do as you build. I’ve done this to shops that had high ceilings that I worked in in my life time just turn them on low to start

I don’t know what you’re planning for a ceiling material but whatever it is consider renting or buying a Sheetrock lift. Worth its weight in gold.
@g.r.48532 жыл бұрын
I hope you can find a big industrial sheet rock lift to rent for that ceiling. Where I am, I think I got them (many yrs ago) from Taylor, and they were big electro-hydraulic with wheelbarrow sized tires. I forget how high they went, 20-25 feet it seems, took half a day to assemble and tear down. Today they are probably battery powered hovercraft type. I also think they would handle 20 foot sheets, but I've been retired over a decade now so remember little about them and they may not even exist anymore.

I used to tell my husband , it is 12 and 3/4's and 1 bit. I couldn't do that math either Rebekah. I love watching this build. It is going to be a spectacular place when it is finished. I am really looking forward to the butchering kitchen. Do you have room for a walk in refrigerator? You might want to see "Sow the Land" video. He has done a walk in for Justin Rhodes and a portable one he made recently for himself from an old U haul trailer. He used it when he butcher his last two pigs. Very handy indeed. I really think the portable one is the best. Looking forward to the completion of this shop build though, y'all have done a wonderful job so far. Have a Blesse day.
