I saw that recently and wondered how much of her nasal voice is put on and what she really sounds like when she isn't trying to affect any "sound." It's like Jim Nabors... was that Andy Griffith Show voice really his natural voice? We know what his singing voice is like - a nice baritone - does there have to be such a vast difference between the two? Tom Baker - Americans' favorite Doctor Who - is well-known for his beautiful voice and impeccable RP "posh" dialect. But he's from Liverpool! I bet he trained himself into that voice.

She has a NY Brooklyn Queens long island accent. It vary's a bit from each location and the neighborhood you grew up in, but essentially that is a NY Voice. Italian, Black, Jew, white, Irish, etc all have tweaked accents that surround that tenor. Only people from Manhattan typically had voices without heavy accents. Oddly enough People from upstate NY had accents more like Texans!! nothing at all like those from the metropolitan area. Then again NY's metro area is the heart of immigrant migration. And as each peoples clustered into their own groups and neighborhoods so did their dialect's accents and styles intermingle with one another. Only those who didn't speak any English truly held onto their homeland accents, but their children and descendants picked up the new accents and slang, because it reinforced your origins. Birds of feather flock together, and speak the common tongue. and oh.. BTW.. you should never EVER remove your native tongue and accent for the sake of others. Be yourself!! if they dont like it, the who the hell do they think they are!? Im not talking about profanity. yes that you can loose. Im talking about your legend, where your from.

Voices definitely can run in families. I was watching a British TV show, Midsomer Murders, and something about one actress playing a minor role made me think I'd seen her before, but couldn't recall the name. Then a name popped into my head: Annette Crosbie. But this actress didn't look anything like her. I watched the show credits carefully to find out the actress's name. It was Selina Griffiths, but I'd never heard that name before. So I looked her up on Wiki and discovered there that she was Annette Crosbie's daughter.

I loved a lot of her earlier "walk on' roles like in Saturday Night Fever, Thank God its Friday, Spinal Tap is another one that comes to mind. Really loved her on "The Nanny", and if I am not mistaken she made an appearance on Cheers at one point. Always fun to see her on screen:-)

I think her voice is unique and beautiful!! I have grown up listening to this iconic voice and I just love it ❤❤ Also people should learn to start embracing unique and different traits about other's! It's our differences that makes us special and interesting! We can't all be the same 😶😶😶

My Mother's side of the family were all in Queens N.Y. and spoke like that. I inherited the voice. It has given me many interesting moments in my life. God bless Fran.

It's the same laugh, same voice and the same warm, loving character from The Nanny that I'm not embarrassed to say, my most fave show of all time, right next to The Golden Girls and GLEE.

Golden Girls? Is Sophia your all time fave?
@richardjbsimon3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesgurksnis4392 I can't say Sophia is, because all four of them complete the entire dynamic of the show. Although I do admire her wisdom that still holds up until this day.

the nanny and friends are two of the best comedy tv series of the 90’s! and maybe ever... the type where you can just play it in the background while doing house chores and end up laughing just by listening...

Absolutely top-notch comedic instincts and delivery. I just watched an episode tonight, better than most shows 35 years later.

I have had a collegue who had the same voice... Customers were fond of her while talking while checking them out at the register. The line of customers waiting for check out was only growing when she was on the counter to help them for check out. Because of her yepping with and to the customers while checking out, but they loved her. They didn't knew her, but they didn't bother to wait once they knew why. They thought it was refreshing and more often they stood in line 3 times, or more, longer in line then usual and then was necessary, but her talking cheered them up in such a perculair way. I never knew why and I never made the link, until now, and that's while I have watched the show as a child and have been watching the reruns, alsof this evening right before I saw this video
