Why undermine a beautiful, slow love story with a sense of dissatisfaction in Francesca with the kiss? In the novels she loves John. Why not let her have her full love story here and then introduce her new love interest? Why ruin this one just to validate the next?

Nah Francesca does have a season. Spoilers ahead, John dies and she end up with a guy called Micheal Stirling, John’s cousin. This happens in the books but in Netflix they gender swapped Micheal into Mikella which makes Francesca gay/bi.
