"The church is a hospital for sinners, it's not a country club for saints." "I can't go to church because there's too many hypocrites down there, it'd be like saying I can't go to the gym because there are too many out of shape people down there." So true and so many great quotes in this short clip!
@joegame4576
@joegame4576 Ай бұрын
that first quote is problematic. it seems to suggest that ALL church members are sick patients and that every single one of them are in ICU. there are doctors and nurses in the hospital as well. when someone calls out a hypocrite at a church, they're usually calling out elders and deacons (doctors and nurses), not new members (patients). it's like a doctor who smokes telling patients to stop smoking because it's bad for them. would you be comfortable in a hospital where majority of doctors are chain smokers and gets drunk every night? you can't stay a patient forever. you need to become a hospital employee at some point and start working. would you be comfortable in a hospital with 1,000 patients but only 1 doctor and 2 nurses? a church being a hospital should not be used as an excuse to remain a patient forever.

When out of shape people go to gym they get better not worse. Also they don't just think they are getting better because there are actual ways to measure weight and body fat but there is no way to measure hypocrisy

The Church isn't a hospital. The Church is Gods called out ones. The Church is God's ekclessia. The Church is the body of Christ. The Church isn't a hospital nor is the Church a place for sinners. The Church are those who have been called out of the world to belong to Christ. That lie has been told long enough it sounds like some truth. A lie is a lie not mater how much it's parroted or how much acceptance it gains. It's a lie by nature. The Church doesn't cure anyone of sin.

Exactly! Christians are still human & susceptible to the same temptations as everyone & still sin. The difference is the holy spirit burns within us & we know it's wrong even if we do it anyway, and our guilt weighs much more heavily on our hearts, inspiring us to pray for the strength to break our cycle of habitual sin. We will still stumble. That's not hypocrisy for the sake of hypocrisy, it's just our humanity that sticks with us until our last breath. God Bless 🙏

One thing anyone can be grateful for and it's that we Christians could be worse than we are and do just as bad as any other human being has done on Earth. The world should be grateful we do have a Good Savior who teaches us compassion and righteousness. Condemning the Savior because of us is the lamest excuse anyone can use to avoid their own responsibility and procur their own eternal condemnation. We never point to ourselves as examples to follow but Jesus Christ as the Only Example that we are trying to follow.

When using the scripture of Jesus speaking to the Pharisees, Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees in regard to the hypocrisy of their religiosity. Believers and followers are to be in relationship with Jesus, not wear it on their sleeves for show. If a Christian has never apologized to you for a misdeed against you, are they true followers of Jesus? We are striving to be like Jesus when in this world. Once Jesus returns, then we will be like Him. It seems some commentators are missing the point of the statement we are hypocrites. We live in a fallen world and should strive for perfection daily but understand we will never achieve it until Jesus returns. This is where grace steps in. Ask for forgiveness and turn from what we are asking forgiveness for. But…1 Corinthians 10:13. As long as we live in this world, there will always be temptations to overcome. The microscope is always on a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speak to each other and about each other like they are separate people. There are passages where God speaks in the first person in the Old Testament, and Jesus will quote these in the first person about himself. He will claim things that are titles of God alone about himself and tells us he can not only hear our prayers but has the ability to answer them too. Psalm 95:7 - for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice, Isaiah 43:13 - Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” Deuteronomy 32:29 - “See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand. Two of these are God speaking in the first person, one about God. John 10:27-30 Jesus speaking, - 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” It continues to 33 with the Jewish audience picking up stones to kill Jesus, he asks for what good works do you stone me, and they say not for good works, but you being a man make yourself out to be God. John 14:13-14 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. John 5:19-23 Jesus said that he does everything exactly as he see the Father does and does everything the Father does and that Jesus will be judge and the Father will judge no one. He also says to honor him, the Son, just as you honor the Father. John 1:1,14 Jesus is the Word who was there in the beginning with God, and who was God, who took on flesh and dwelt among us. John 8, Jesus says that he saw Abraham and Abraham didn't try to kill him like the Jews were and Abraham was glad to see him. John 8:58, Jesus said that before Abraham was, I AM, which is what God told Moses his name was. Genesis 15:1-5 Jesus is the Word who came to Abram in a vision and gave him the promise of Issac, then verse 5 says the Word of the Lord (who is Jesus) lead Abram outside and gave him the promise of innumerable descendants, as many as the stars. Gensis 18 says the LORD appeared to Abraham as a man and spoke to him face to face and that Abraham made food for him and the two with him. The LORD sends the two with him to Sodom and Ghomorrah while he remains with Abraham while Abraham pleads for the city. Three appearing as men were there , yet only two went into the city and one stayed speaking with Abraham. Genesis 19:24 "Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the LORD out of the heavens." When LORD is all caps it's using God's holy name in Hebrew, and Abraham was just pleading face to face with God to not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Gen 19:24 says Yahweh rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah from Yahweh out of heaven. Jesus is the Yahweh who spoke to Abraham face to face and called sulfur and brimstone out of heaven from Yahweh the Father. Jesus said, "Destroy this temple (meaning his body) and in three days, I will raise it up!" He did not say his Father would raise him, although the Father (Galations 1:1) and the Holy Spirit (Romans 6:10-11) are each explicitly given credit for raising Jesus. Isaiah 43:11, God said there is no savior besides him. Titus 3:6 Jesus is called our Savior. John 6:46, Jesus says no one has seen the Father, yet Abraham spoke face to face with God in Genesis 18:19, Moses spoke face to face with God in Exodus 33:11 and Moses and the elders of Israel went up Mount Sinai and saw the God of Israel seated on a throne and ate with him in Exodus 24:9-11. Jacob wrestled with God in Genesis 32:22-32. Mark 1:1-4, the very first verses of the very first chapter of what is cited as the very first Gospel calls Jesus God. It references Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 3:1 where Yahweh says he will send his messenger who will be like a voice in the wilderness to make the way before he himself comes to his temple. Mark says John is that voice in the wilderness, making the way for Jesus. John 1:23 , Matthew 3:3, and Luke 3:4 also say the exact same things. So all four Gospels call Jesus Yahweh in the first few chapters in the exact same way quoting the exact same Old Testament scriptures to do so. In Mark 10:18, Jesus said,"Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." Meaning: "You call me good when only God is good, do you understand what you are calling me?" To further the point, Christ then lists the 6 commandments that relate to how people deal with each other and asks the man if he's followed those. The man says yes. Then, instead of listing the 4 commandments on how to relate to God and asking if he's followed those, Jesus tells the man, "Follow me," because following and worshiping Christ is following and worshiping God. In Mark Jesus heals the paralytic man, but first, he tells him your sins are forgiven. The Pharisees around thought in their hearts this was blasphemy, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus instantly know what they were thinking and called them out on it, and said to prove to you I can forgive sins, get up and walk and the paralytic could walk. Jesus proved he is God for only God can forgive sins, only God knows the hearts of m en (Jeremiah 11:20 and 17:10). Jesus did both of those in Mark's Gospel, which is often considered the oldest of the four. Read Hebrews 1:8-12. Old Testament scriptures are quoted that are talki ng about God creating the universe, and Hebrews 1:8-12 quotes them and attributes the Father calling Jesus God, the Lord who created the everything, who is eternal. Hebrews 1:8-9 is directly qupting Psalm 45:6. Hebrews 1:10-12 Is directly quoting Psalm 102:25-27, where the Psalm is talking about Yahweh (God) and Hebrews is talking about Jesus, the Son. Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory. 2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Matthew 1:23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" (which means “God with us" ) Titus 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Isaiah 44:6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besid es Me there is no God." Revelation 1:17-18 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Isaiah 48:16 “Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord God and His Spirit Have sent Me.” (God is speaking, saying he was there from the beginning, and that the Lord God and His Spirit sent him. The Trinity in the Old Testament.) Zechariah 12:10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. Jesus is God with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is what scripture taught from the beginning because it is from the sc ripture that the idea of the tri-unity between the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit as being God teaches. Not something come up with later. A human being is what I am. trenititybrehm is who I am. God is what the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are. Three sepreate people, who are the one God. The only reason the Trinity exists is because scripture teaches that the Father is God, Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God

How do Christians maintain Jesus is the Jewish messiah or he’s sinless when the messianic prophecy in Ezekiel shows the messiah performing a sin-offering sacrifice for his own sins? Either Jesus is not the Jewish messiah, or the Old Testament prophets received conflicting messianic prophecies perhaps from different spirits, or if Jesus is the Jewish messiah he’s not God because God doesn’t need to perform a sin offering for the forgiveness of His own sins. This is just one of the many reasons why so many Jews reject Christ.

I can't even explain how foolish and cringe it is when someone actually "doesn't believe in God". I mean, how can be anyone that blind? It's extremely pathetic when we need to prove anything, and the worst part is that it's completely pointless because they won't accept anything as proof. Jesus never said "Go and prove that I exist." When a fake Christian faces God at the end, (s)he won't be able to say that "I believed in you, so I go to heaven" because God would say that, "Did you believe in me? That's the most basic thing in the world. But did you repent and had faith in my Son?" And some people don't even reach that point where they could say that they believed in God, at least. This generation is utterly depraved and blind.

But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” (Luke 16:31) It used to frustrate me endlessly trying to convince them when they demand evidence, but seeing as how they're shutting their eyes and shutting their ears, screaming at the top of their lungs like naughty children, it becomes laughable, and then eventually (due to the Holy Spirit at work), just sad beyond reasonable measure. Whenever they demand evidence, it's often to shut it down in an attempt to disprove God's existence to avoid accountability. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” (John 3:18-21) It's knowing that fact I've learned not to give what is sacred unto dogs, nor cast pearls before swine, lest they'd trample them underfoot and tear and tear me to pieces, as according to Matthew 7:6.

Whoa. Wait a minute. Frank most likely thinks he is better than any non believer in a special way, and here is how. When people tell other people that they are better than them, but the others find out that this is not true, a special kind of hypocrisy is involved. Look at how the bible implicitly or explicitly informs believers how to think about themselves relative to non believers:- Believers are - In the light, the salt of the earth, the holders of pearls, the holders of the truth, children of God, wise, joyous, healed, saved, etc. They need to separate themselves from non believers. Non believers are - In darkness, swine, the holders of lies, children of Satan, fools, miserable, sick, doomed, etc. They need to be saved in order to be more like believers. So naturally, when we see that believers are no different to non believers, we point the finger and cry "foul". How can non believers accuse believers of hypocrisy? Simple. We all share a common definition of what hypocrisy is and so non believers judge believers according to that shared standard. Frank's God may or may not exist. Nevertheless we all agree to the definition of hypocrisy.
@Joninhoo
@Joninhoo 3 ай бұрын
The question is not if we agree or not on the definition of hypocrisy, the question is why is it bad if there is no God? From which standard do you judge that hypocrisy is wrong ? If it is actually wrong there must be a standard which says it's wrong, we believe it to be God.

@@Joninhoo //... we believe it to be God.// I understand that. However, I gave you the standard by which I/we judge - it's shared agreement on what I specific word means and how it relates to human behaviour. Once people agree to the use of a word, then we have a standard. "God" as a standard has always been very problematical across history and it remains so today. Here's a classic example. Is chattel slavery absolutely and objectively wrong? It depends on what period and what culture you live in, when it comes to God setting the standard. Sometimes it's ordained by God, and sometimes it's not. And who do you always hear making the proclamation as to how God sees it? Fallible human beings. So fallible humans still have to agree about their varying opinions regarding what they opine is the word of God. Finally, if God's word (the bible) is the standard, then as a believer, are you necessarily better than me, a non believer?
