+oakenshanks Frank was very classically trained and had a host of European composers from over the past 100 years that he studied ,absorbed from and emulated. He was indeed a genius. One might think he was acting when he got the directors baton out and waved it around, but he actually knew how to use it properly- how to lead an orchestra. And Frank actually wrote orchestra compositions quite well.
@Patrick963229 жыл бұрын
+Lia Lovely Frank started to write contemporary classical music at the age of 14, and said that he didn't write a rock 'n' roll song until he reached his early 20's !
@zolarczakl38807 жыл бұрын
Frank took about 2 semesters at a music school, got the gist of it and went on his own with his ideas of music composition; so basically self-taught. He once described his early composing style as "getting as far out as possible with the slide rule" then said, "who cares about that stuff?" and got more involved with writing "rock 'n roll" songs. Obviously, he never abandoned his slide rule, owing to the impossible time signatures in many of his tunes.
@landocal0017 жыл бұрын
Read his biography, no mention of classical training. He does mention many classical influences.

5:40 I love zappa man! Haven't seen this done in a concert since 1972 with the dead but this time. This time it was like hoorah man! Zappa does a gesture to replicate the Eskimo, and asks the crowd to join. The crowd does the gesture, except for a few people. So Zappa stops the music and asks "why aren't you two pouncing are you guys ripped?" And the camera goes to the crowd with all their hands up with the most doobies you could ever see!, when I watched this and saw all the smoke in the crowd I laughed the hardest I've ever laughed in a while! And I wanted to share the full Zappa experience with everyone man!
