I just realized that the rest of the colors they mentioned are actually shades. Gray is a mixture of black and white. Pink is a shade of red. And most of the other colors they mentioned are either mixtures of different colors of colors or shades of black and white

Something I read a long time ago: colors are added to a culture's "rainbow" as the society develops... Which is why the Odyssey describes the water as "red" (they didn't have a word for "blue"; only "light", "dark" and "red"). There are actually more colors that we don't consider part of our rainbow in English. Also, bright pink was the first pigment discovered in the ancient Sahara. So I guess it's all relative? Edit: I found an article about the color theory I mentioned. According to Deutscher, Black and white come first, then red, then yellow and/or green and finally blue. And then, other colors.
